4 score and 8 miles of biking (AKA 88 miles)

Dang what a day.  This was a long tough ride!

The plan was for 80ish miles today.  We got up early and had a nice breakfast.  I decided to have some banana custard oats to fuel up.

Topped with Teddie peanut butter and strawberry jam.  I also had 1.5 cups of almond milk.  Approximately 500 calories before we left the house.

Packed up our bike bags to head out.  I brought along a granola bar, a pear, coconut water, dried pineapple, and one of my favorite ride snacks:

Dates!

We checked weather.com and the hourly forecast had 10% chance of rain.  It was a gorgeous morning when we set out.  At 10 miles, we stopped so I could take some pictures.

This was a side route we take, but normally going the other way, so this was fun to ride it in this direction.  I also had one of the above dates at this point. John had to fiddle with his tire as he either ran over a rock or stick and it made a bulge in his wheel.

We were making pretty good time.  We continued on for another 9 miles and stopped at mile 19 for a potty stop and a snack:

Anyone in NY will recognize Stewarts!  This is the convenience store you want to stop in if you have to use the restroom.  Always clean.  See what a gorgeous sky there was this morning? Too bad it didn’t last.  We passed through Saratoga and on to Ballston Spa, where John asked for a stop for a map check, which always makes me nervous.  He is the map planner for our rides.

We were trying to wind our way to the Zimm Smith mid county trail.  We hit at at about mile 30 and then stopped shortly thereafter for a snack.

Can I say that I adored this path?

We were on it for around 7 miles and it was awesome!

I was starting to get hungry at this point. We knew it was going to be around 40 miles to get to Clifton Park and all the food choices.  It ended up being 42 miles and I was about bonking at this point.  I should have stopped at mile 40 and had a date, because the last 2 miles was an upward climb! Of course with it being the holiday, some places were closed.  And the one pasta place we wanted to go to was gone.  So we went to Mocha Lisa’s, which is a place I haven’t been to in a while!

John happy with 42 miles:

I was feeling pretty good.

Mocha Lisa’s is a neat coffee shop with a lunch menu.

Lunch was a chicken and pesto panini with roasted red peppers and provolone.

Excellent!  I tried not to wolf it down.  After this, I had some more dried pineapple.  We filled up our water bottles and continued on.  We were going to loop up a different way, but we enjoyed that bike path so much that we backtracked to go back on it.  At mile 57, it was time for some coconut water.

We had stuck these in the freezer overnight and this was slushy cold and delicious!  I think coconut water might be an acquired taste for some – but I lurve it!

I saw these really cool wild lilies along this path.  Actually, there were tons of wildflowers and it was so pretty.

Of course, it cannot be an official ride without one of these 🙄  :

Ugh!  Actually, to be fair, this flat was a leaking patch.  I am not sure why John didn’t change out this tube with a new one before such a long ride.  You aren’t really supposed to ride on patched tires – they are just supposed to get you home.  Anyway, he put in a new tube and we headed out.

I started to have some chain problems around 60 miles.  Every 12 pedal revolutions and my chain would go ‘clunk’.  It was like a link was sticking or something.  We lubed up the chain, but it was weird for the rest of the ride periodically.

Mile 66 and we made it back to Saratoga.  Both cupcake places were closed for the holiday, but Saratoga Coffee Traders was open!

Giant iced coffee and a 7-layer bar.  I made sure to eat and drink this slowly so my stomach wouldn’t cramp up.

We also played a little coffee trivia game:

Yum!

Food tastes so good when you are working hard.  This was at about 4 hours of ride time by this point (not including breaks and lunch).

Sky was looking a little ominous as we left.

As we headed out, John got another flat.  Can you believe it?  We pumped up the tire and got to the nearest gas station.  We checked where the leak was in the new tube and I examined the tire and found this embedded in it:

It was like some tiny metal pin or something.  Good thing we found that because he had to use *my* spare tube and it would have gone flat as well.  So, we got that all fixed and continued on.

At mile 70, it started to rain.

Apparently 10% chance of rain really means 100% chance of rain.

Thanks weather.com…

After the rain lessened, we started going again and then it really started pouring!  This was at about 6 p.m., too.  We waited for about half an hour, but we knew that we had about 18 miles to go and were going to cut it a little close to get home in daylight.  We just sucked it up and kept riding.  We rode about 10 miles in rain.  Not fun.  My toes were squishing in water as I pedaled! I have to say, though, that I was feeling pretty good. My legs were strong and not really too tired at all.

At mile76, we stopped for a quick snack.  I probably wouldn’t have needed something if we didn’t have that half hour rain delay.

We stopped 1/3 of a mile from home to pick up some ice cream and then rode the last bit home.

Ride stats:

Miles:  88.7

Ride time (excluding stops and breaks) 6 hours 40 minutes

Average speed 13.2 mph

Calories burned: 2745

If we hadn’t had a rain delay, we could have just done 100 miles, and we had thought about it earlier until we had the tire issues and the rain.  If only there was an hour of daylight left to finish it out.  John may not do 100 miles with me, but I am ready to finish that task and get back to normal riding.

Pixie was happy to see us and check out my shake.

After the best shower EVER!!, we are now watching more biking:

Time to eat some leftover pizza and a few more carbs tonight.

Hope you all had a happy 4th!

Solo ride and duo ride for 63 miles!

Saturday is long ride day.  I puttered around waiting to eat for a while.  Saturday mornings are so nice and quiet!  When I got around to breakfast, I filled up with some banana custard oats.

John decided he didn’t want a really long ride today as he was feeling tired, so I decided to take a solo ride before we went out together.

I wound around town and the paths.  My legs felt so awesome!  I took a complete rest day on Friday and it really did make a big difference.  I went around the Feeder Canal.

Didn’t want to lean too far here!

Just to show all isn’t beauteous path that I ride – I do go in traffic.  Main road.

Not much traffic on a Saturday morning, though.  This has a nice wide shoulder.  Not all of the roads do.

Then I was back on some of the path.

I really like this section.

It is one of my favorites.

The canal is really high right now, too.

I pulled back into home at mile 15.6. I was cruising along, too!  I did an average of 13.5 miles per hour, which with all the stops and stuff I was pretty happy with.  John decided he was ready to go, but then we thought we would wait until after lunch.  I didn’t want to eat lunch out and then have a cupcake.

So we dined on leftover calzone John brought back from his poker game last night.  Hello carbs!!!

Nom, nom!

John and I then headed out for our longer ride.  No pictures of the first 22 miles because we didn’t stop at all!  We really cranked out that ride.  I swear I should always do a 15 mile warm up ride before a longer one. My legs felt awesome!  We arrived in Saratoga at mile 22/37 ready for a carb hit.

Check out this amazing mansion:

Could you imagine living here??

We averaged 14.1 miles per hour on the way to Saratoga! I was psyched at that speed – even with the headwind on the way there.

Of course, you know what is coming!

S’mores cupcake!

I wanted to see how close I could get to the cupcake with my lens.

Pretty close.  My finger bumped the frosting

We then walked around town a little bit.  There was a new soap store in town.

Very nice inside.  I wasn’t bowled over by anything, but I bought a bar to help out a fellow soaper!

Then it was time to head home.  I was still feeling really good.  Even the hills seemed easy.  We crested the last of the big hills and took a break.  This was mile 47 on the day.

Can you see the rolling hills?

That a bit of a tough section.

Then we rocked out the rest of the ride.  The Saratoga portion, which is about 44 miles, we did 14.3 miles per hour average.  Fastest trip yet! After eating some fruit and a little cereal, we did go out to the cafe for a snack at night.  I had a plan that if I did a long ride, I could have this.

John and I shared (although I ate more of it).  Chocolate so dark light cannot escape its surface.

Nice evening of relaxing and resting up the legs.

Honestly, I could have better food choices on these long ride days.  Oh well.  I really enjoyed it!

I couldn’t bear to walk to the cafe after 60 miles, so we actually biked there and back!  Just for a couple extra miles.

Daily total:

63.5 miles

Ride time: 4 hours 39 minutes (not including time off bike)

Average speed on the day 14.1 mph!  Yeah!

Top speed: 27.7 mph

Calories burned: 2034.

Feeling great.  We are going to do another 1 or 2 long rides and then do the 100 miler.

Happy Father’s Day to my dad and all the poppas out there!

40-miler by way of change in plans

Woke up to a nice morning for breakfast on the porch today!  I made some protein waffles and did a fun sandwich combo out of them.  I mashed a banana and put it in between the waffles and topped with the last of the chocolate homemade fluff.

Very, very good!

Then I got caught up on emails and blogs while waiting for John to get out of bed.  He was out playing poker again….

I needed a pre ride snack before hitting the road.

Gosh this bread is good.  The plan was to head south to Saratoga as we had cupcakes in mind.  Life had other plans, though 😀  About 6 miles in, John’s derailleur came off:

In doing so, it bent a link of his chain, so it made it difficult for him to pedal.  We decided to not keep going to Saratoga, but instead loop back around to Queensbury and Inside Edge bike shop.  I drooled over some new bikes while John had his chain fixed right then and there.  They only charged him $5.  That is good service.  We had done about 12 mile at that point, and decided not to turn around and go back to Saratoga, or it would have been way longer than we wanted to go today.  Instead, we bike a little bit more and popped into The Silo for lunch at mile 15:

This is a restaurant with a barn store attached to it:

They have a little bit of everything!  I saw a special on the menu board that said Maryland crab melt on a waffle brioche, so that immediately caught my eye.  I probably should have stuck with the breakfast all day thing.

Looked good when it came:

Unfortunately, it was made with fake krab!  I should have guessed by the price, I suppose.  It also had a ton of onions in it, so I had to pick out a bunch of onions and celery and peas (?).  I basically put the crab on the brioche and ate that.  I did eat most of the fries.  The watermelon slice was awesome though!  I have to say I was a little bummed at this meal, as we generally love the Silo.

After lunch, we decided to bike on to Lake George, as it was only 10 miles away.  It’s tourist season!  Lake George is a mix of natural beauty:

and the tacky:

Lots of candy and ice cream shops – here is some dip for candied apples!

We sat in the garden and had some coconut water and blueberries:

Also met the cutest little puppy.  Only 2 months old:

Then I chased this guy around for a while before I got a good shot:

Time to head home.  Since we didn’t get a cupcake, we decided to get yogurt instead.  I had rum cheesecake topped with coconut:

I asked John if he was enjoying his yogurt:

Do all almost 42 year old men act like this?  Maybe it is the result of living with me for so long….

Finally reached home:

41 miles.  Burned 1200 calories!  Woo Hoo!  I am kind of tired, I have to say.  It was a hot day for biking and hilly!  The shower felt amazing and perked me up quite a bit.

I wanted just a bowl of cereal for dinner, but we are out.  Need to go grocery shopping.  So, I made a bowl of cream of wheat topped with nut butter and some chips.  I let this cool way down before eating:

Love carbs after long rides.  I am thinking about doing a 60 mile charity ride in September, which would involve a fundraising drive.  I am not sure, but I might give it a go.  Guess this is turning out to be the summer of biking.  I have just rolled over 1000 miles on the bike since we got the bikes out in March!

70-mile ride and parades!

First off, thank you all so much for your comments on my 100-pound anniversary.  Nothing like tooting your own horn, right? 😀  Guess that is what a blog is all about.

So, yesterday was a really long bike ride and I needed to decompress last night, so I saved the recap until today.

We wanted a somewhat early start.  I fueled up with some custard steel cut oats cooked with a banana and topped with PB and J.

Plus half of a granola bar.  We filled up the bags with water, snacks, and sunscreen.  I got all decked out.  John said I looked like I was ready to ‘kick his pants.”  So, here is me trying to look all tough.

These are the sunglasses that I won over at Ginesa’s blog.  They are pretty nifty, I have to say.

We had a 70-mile route planned out.  It was bright and sunny.  I applied sunscreen 3 times during the ride today.  There was a headwind going south for about 12 miles or so, but we made good time.  Long empty road for a while:

Nice size bike lane, though.  Then we hit the first hill.  My goal today was really not to walk up any hills.  I could stop and rest, but no walking.  We crested the first big hill and saw an apple orchard:

They are open all year and serve cider donuts and coffee.  Must come back here for that!  This was around mile 14? Had a date to get a bit of sugar in the blood stream.  Love the dates.  We climbed some more hills, and then I needed a little more energy:

Have I mentioned how much I adore coconut water?

We got to Saratoga after 24 miles.  It was lunch time!  We tried a new place called Cupcake Lab.   They serve breakfast all day – you know I was all over that!  I had a breakfast burrito grilled on the press:

After we finished the entree, you know a cupcake was going to be had!

Springtime strawberry.  Strawberry cupcake with strawberry icing.  It was good and the perfect size, too.   As we left, there was a parade going on.  Not quite sure what it was for, but it was a big one.  Here are some bagpipers that went by in front of us:

We watched about 5 minutes of the parade and crossed the street when we could.  With tummies full, we continued on.

After we hit mile 45 and just getting into the hilly part of the Lake George section of the ride, I started to get some self doubt.  I had gone 60 miles before, but not with hills at the end.  I was totally dreading the hill we affectionately named “the b*itch” because it is a long slow climb and then a steep ending.  We stayed at the bottom of that section while I was feeling a little overwhelmed and scared about making it, sort of feeling a little tearful.  Silly, I know, but endurance events really bring out some strange emotional responses – who knew?  I knew that climb wouldn’t be fun at all, but I decided to give it a shot after waiting a bit.  Finally made it to Lake George at mile 55:

This is always such a pretty shot.  You come through the path and the trees to this.  There was also another parade going on here!  It was a firefighters parade and it was almost 4 hours long.  Can you believe that?  We came near the end.  We sat and had snacks in a flower garden:

I think John was choking on his coconut water here?  I had a pear.  I got my second wind at this point.  I seem to have some sort of sticking point around mile 40-45 in our rides, then I am okay.  I also knew there was a big ice cream filled carrot waiting for me in another 9 miles!

We knew there was only 15 miles to go at this point, so we pressed on.  I actually was feeling much better and climbed the 2-mile hill back the other way pretty steady.  That second wind is really an amazing thing when it happens.  We stopped at Cooper’s Cave at mile 64 for some ice cream.  The real deal.  I had to choose carefully, because we only get the real stuff infrequently.  I had some pumpkin pie ice cream topped with wet walnuts:

Dear lordy that was so good.  I think I reached nirvana when I took a bite.  After 64 sweaty, hot miles of biking, it was sublime.  Look at this face!

After that bit of blissdom, we pushed it out home.

Ride stats:

Mileage:  70 miles

Average speed:  12.7 mph

Top speed: 29.0  mph

Time: 5 hours 32 minutes (not including stops)

Calories burned: 2160 (even knocking of 10% for slowed metabolism, that is still 1800).

Assessment:  This was a tough ride.  It really makes me understand the enormity of 100 miles.  We need to tack on another 30 miles onto this ride.  It really is a test of endurance, both physically and mentally.  I’m still not sure exactly *why* I want to do 100 miles, I just do.

I really heart my biking buddy, too:

I don’t know if I could do it without him!

Metric Century Ride

Doesn’t metric century sound so much more than 60 miles?  Woke up to a gorgeous day today and a fabulous bowl of oats.

Pumpkin custard oats sweetened with molasses, fresh cranberries (okay, frozen), and topped with toasted pecans.

That and some coffee seemed like a good starter fuel for a long bike ride!

We packed up water and snacks and mapped out a route to take.  Should have taken a little more note of elevation.  We ended up going up to about 900 feet elevation.  We had done part of this route before last fall.  It’s pretty hilly on the way there.  And very pretty.  Top of one big hill.

Stopped in Greenwich, where there were some pretty flowers:

This was 16 miles into the ride. We had snacks.

Plus a few date balls. Then we headed up to Cambridge.   Which way would you take? Up or down?

We went right, which looked down, but was not!! This was really tough.  Serious upward climb of around 400 feet in the next 10 miles.  I didn’t have to walk up any of these hills, and I was really pleased at that, but it was early enough in the ride.  It was really, really hard though.  Then there was a huge and scary down hill, where I was over 30 mph.  So scary.  We got to Cambridge ready for some lunch!  This was about 25 miles in.  We stopped at this little hole in the wall, which was a little scary:

However, I was pleased to see that they serve breakfast all day (yay!) and was even more pleased to see my cheese omelet:

That was some serious wheat toast there, too – not junk! I ate every bite as I was hungry at this point.  It’s always amazing how sometimes the places that look the worst have the best food.  We then walked to a health food co-op so I could pick up some coconut water.  That was a neat store, too.  Wish it were closer to us!

We decided to loop around instead of doubling back, as we thought we could avoid that giant hill that we came down.  Hahaha!  This is the Adirondack area, after all.  It was looking good for quite a while, then about mile 35 or so, we hit the.worst.hill.ever.  Ever!!  It was very steep and probably around 3/4 of a mile up.  You know you are in trouble when you are less than halfway up and in the lowest gear you have 😀  So, I had to walk up some of that hill, as did John.  If you look hard, you can see the orange dot that is John near the top:

He made it further up the hill than I did.  After we got to the top, we then slugged some of the coconut water:

This stuff is like magic to me.  I don’t know why.  I have never had gatorade, so maybe that would give the same result, but I don’t want to switch!  I started to get my 2nd legs here and made it up all the rest of the hills back to Greenwich so that we could stop for another treat!

This was at 41 miles in:

This is their version of a single scoop 😯   I think this probably has to be 600 calories (and yes, I ate it all).   The flavor was ginger with some ginger bits in it.  So freaking good!  I don’t eat real ice cream all that often, but when I do – it needs to be the good stuff.  This was from the Ice Cream Man in Greenwich, featured on Food Network.

We were a little tired at this point.  This was a very ambitious route to take.  Way too hilly for the distance we were doing.  But, we pushed onwards towards home.  After all, it was only 19 more miles at this point :D.

It’s definitely a beautiful ride.  So green around here now.

Took another break at 49 miles to have some coconut water and a little sit:

She’s lookin’ a little droopy!

We then busted out the last bit.  John was really starting to flag.  It’s funny that I get a second wind, and he usually does not.  However, I drafted off of him for a lot of today, which I truly appreciate (Thanks, honey!).  The last hill to home, I walked up about 1/8 of mile and John went straight home, but the mileage was at 57 and change and I really wanted 60, so I biked just a little further before coming back home.

Farthest mileage ever!!

Stats:

60.5 miles (or 100 KM!!)

Average speed: 12.4 mph

Top speed:  35.4 mph (so freaking scary – and this is with brakes!!).

Calories burned:  1800 (says machine, probably closer to 1500.  Still a lot).

Assessment?  This was a tough ride. Really tough.  Some parts of it were just not fun, but overall it was a great day to ride and we feel pretty good about our accomplishments!  Only need to tack another 40 miles onto this ride to reach 100    I am crossing this route off the list, though.  Too hard!

Showered and ate some leftovers for dinner.  The lentil rice dish topped with some of that broccoli/quinoa from yesterday.

At first I wasn’t really that hungry because I drank so much water, but as I started eating, my body just woke up to hunger!

Tonight is some serious vegging, and a visit from the parentals, if we can stay awake LOL.  Plus probably some toast and nut butter.

I’m thinking tomorrow is a rest day…..

45-mile ride and carb loading!

Thank you all for the nice comments on my hair.  It’s going to take some getting used to again.  A year ago my hair was about this length.  It grew a lot!

I had a nice carby breakfast to get ready for the bike ride today.  Banana custard oats topped with some of that fresh made peanut butter and some jam.

Yum!  Plus a couple cups of cafe au lait.  I am going to do a nut butter primer this week some time.  Just gotta find the time to put it together.

I made up some protein snacks for the ride.  These are a mix of dates, cashews, unsweetened coconut, coconut oil and brown rice protein powder.  Formed into balls.

These are flipping good!  They are just begging to be dipped in chocolate, too.  I love these!  I’ll have to figure out an exact recipe for them and post.  They are calorie dense, but good for fueling.

We were debating on where to ride today.  This was going to be my first long ride (more than 20 miles) since I hurt my back.  It was pretty windy today, but we decided to head down to Saratoga.  I was a little bit nervous because of how hilly it is.  We took this same route a few days before I hurt my back  about 6 weeks ago.  I told John that I was worried I would be holding him back, and he said that we were a team.  I almost cried at that.  We did pretty well.  It was quite windy, and a headwind to boot.  Perfect temperature, though!

( I love John’s legs. 😳  )Snack time!

Those date balls.  So good.  The bike route going this way is part of the main road, so it is just a wide shoulder.  We got to Saratoga and stopped at the farmer’s market.  I wish the Glens Falls market was like this one.  It’s quite large and lots of fun stuff!

I would have gotten some greek yogurt if we weren’t riding!  These are alien and scary:

Celeriac.  I should try this sometime, but I don’t like celery that much, and that is what it is supposed to taste like.

We did buy some cheese, though.  Had samples of it.  This was sooooo good!

Spendy, so I only got a 1/4 pound.  I think eating it with some crusty bread will happen at some point this week.

We were pretty hungry for lunch at this point, so we stopped off to Uncommon Grounds to have one of their fabulous bagels!

Banana nut bagel with honey walnut cream cheese.  Now *this* is a bagel.  Worth every carby bite.  We then spent some time in town, and John got a new wheel put on his bike.  We ended up riding a few miles around there and stopped to get more carbs for the ride home.  This is a german chocolate cake cupcake:

We split this cupcake and lookie what was in the middle!

Scrumptious!  And very rich.  Good thing we split it.  Although truth be told, I definitely probably could have eaten the whole thing myself.

Then we headed home.  Still pretty windy.  I was doing quite well until we hit mile 35.  We had just made a turn and there was a steep hill.  I just knew I wasn’t going to make it to the top without walking some without all my former strength, and my speed dropped too much to make it all the way up.  This time I did cry.  I got to the top where John was waiting and I just was so frustrated about this stupid injury that I started to cry.  John said it’s okay because I am still recovering, but I just said, “but I don’t want to be anymore!”  Sometimes the emotional part of this injury really gets to me.  I know it will take time, but it just takes a toll on the psyche.

Anyway, we rested a little bit so I could compose myself and we continued on.  I knew that the hill to home would not be happening, so we took a different route around.  It added a few miles to the trip, but I was so pleased we took it.  It’s much flatter and this was where my clip shoes shined (shone?).  I felt so efficient and got my second wind.  Yay!  I could have kept going after we got  back.  I found my quads didn’t burn much, which I attribute to the clip shoes.  And I was wearing my new padded bike shorts.  My butt never hurt before riding, and it certainly didn’t hurt at all with the shorts.  Cool.

Arrived home:

Total distance:  45.6 miles (Longest ride of the year to date!!)

Average speed:  12.3 going, 13.2 coming home.  Pretty good with wind and hills.

Time:  3 hours 30 minutes

Top speed: 27.8 mph (Hills and kinda scary!)

Calories burned:  1380  (per odometer, I say 1200).

Assessment:  I feel really good.  My back is a squidge achy, as well as my knee, but it doesn’t feel injured, if that makes sense.  It only gets better from here.  Who needs running??

I was pretty hungry for dinner, and wanted a good protein hit.

3.5 oz of chicken with 1 oz of feta cheese and some toasted almonds.  Mixed with BBQ sauce.  The standard salad.  I wolfed this down and my body wanted a few more carbs, so I had a small dish of rice.

Now I am munching on an Attune bar.  I feel like a bottomless pit right now.  I’ll probably have some cereal later to make sure I have eaten enough today.

Hope you all had a super Saturday!

Question:  Do you shop at farmer’s markets?

6-miler and surprise beauty in fall

(I forgot to hit ‘publish’ last night 😳  )

Today was a run day.  Too cold to go in the upper 20s when I first got up, so I had breakfast first 🙂

cakes1117

I worked for a while until the temp hit 39 degrees and headed out.  Pre run fuel:

zone1117

The addiction is still alive and well 😳

It was sunny and beautiful (if cold!)  I did a 3.2 mile loop, came back to the house and drank from my water bottle (and shed my gloves), then did another 3.2 mile loop.  2nd loop was the hill run.  If I had though about it, I would have done the hill loop first…..

Here is my GoWear fit today:

gsf

Can you guess where the run is in the graph??

Had the most wonderful lunch today.  John cooked up some pie pumpkins yesterday, so we have fresh pumpkin!  I mixed some with greek yogurt, pumpkin pie spice, cranberry sauce and some Hemp Plus granola.

lunch1117

Tasty!

When I was outside today, I saw one of my roses actually had a bloom on it!

rose1117

Even with the frost and everything lately, and the beauty bloomed!  Very fragrant and I was so happy to see this.  I don’t know if the other 2 buds there will open or not, but it’s possible!

Decided on a burger for dinner.  I don’t bother with the lean ground beef anymore because it’s just too dry.  I don’t eat ground beef very often, so I like to get the good stuff.  The trade off is the tiny burger:

din1117

Where’s the beef???  Good, though.

Last stop on tonight’s agenda was Starbucks!  We went with my mom.  I would have loved a gingerbread latte, but decided on a decaf skim latte.  I actually got almost 8 hours of sleep last night!  I hope to repeat that tonight.

This last pic was taken with my mom’s Easy Share by Kodak.  She is actually trusting me with her new digital camera until mine comes back!  😀

Have a super night!

GoWear fit

I’ve been wearing the GoWear fit since Monday afternoon. I slept with it on as well. You just can’t wear it in the shower. So, I have had a continuous monitoring of my activities.
Here is Tuesday’s calorie burn:

You can see where I get up and do exercise first thing in the morning. Breakfast making also involves movement around with a lot of reaching. Interesting. Then there was work time at the computer, where I kind of hop up and down out of the chair periodically. The afternoon was much less active, although a blip around 1 pm or so when I went upstairs to do some strength training. You can also see a rise before I went to bed when I did 30 minutes of yoga.

What I do see is that I need to move more. A lot more. My hour of exercise a day just isn’t cutting it. I’m burning calories – but the winter time really does make me move a lot less. In the warm weather I am out jogging and biking and walking. Guess I will be joining the Y!! LOL.

And just for the cuteness factor, this is one of my precious kitties. This is the old lady of 18, she found a sunspot this morning to sleep in.
