Thanks again for all the updates on the Healthy Heart Challenge! I will get them posted tomorrow. There are some great pictures!
There will be 3 winners! One person will get some home roasted coffee (you are so lucky! ), one person will get coconut flour and coconut butter, and a third person will get 2 bars of Lindt Intense Dark Chocolate – 2 different flavors. Stay tuned for that!
After a good night’s sleep, I was raring to go for breakfast. I made up the applesauce version of the 1-minute muffin in the waffle iron and topped with blueberries.
So good. I really like the 1-minute muffin done this way better texture wise than just in the microwave.
Yesterday I ate too much food. It was a lot of snacking. I felt hungry all day. I never really know if I consider it a binge or just overeating. Do you have a definition or distinction between the two? I guess it doesn’t really matter because the end result is the same no matter what you call it – to the tune of an extra 900 calories. That was an eye opener when I logged it all. But, just move on from that.
Anyway, today I wanted to up the protein and nix the wheat today. Lunch time included another pumpkin protein shake.
Plus mango. I spent a little extra money on the sliced mango at the store yesterday because it just sounded so good – and it was 😀
I had a nice busy day at work, which made time go by fast. John made up my latte today, which I had with a square of Lindt dark.
I finished up work in good time today and got in my guitar practicing before dinner (unusual for a Monday). I am working on a new piece and it is a little frustrating. Maybe this December I will post me playing that piece. Now there’s a goal!
More protein for dinner. Turkey burger with laughing cow. Plus brussels sauteed in coconut oil. I did snack on some potato chips while cooking dinner, but I logged them.
We have a nice quiet night planned. It’s always nice to start off the week with a quiet evening. So, after riding the trainer for a bit, I am going to get into flannel jammies with my book!
I ate my first brussel sprout yesterday! I was so proud of myself that I tried something new that I even wrote a post about it! And I LOVE them! I kept seeing them on your plate so I HAD to give them a whirl. I roasted them like I do my other veggies and I was shocked by how much they taste like cauliflower! What else should I try?
What is your blog Linda?
Roasting really can make a difference in liking veggies – or at least I found that! Have you tried parsnips yet?
I think tracking is such a great tool for finding out what you are really eating! I started tracking my food too … honestly, I enjoy it, and I like to see what I’m actually eating. I love your waffle – it looks like little hearts around the edge where the blueberries aren’t covering it!
I have tracked my food forever and it really helps keep me honest – even when I do overeat, at least I know I am doing it and by how much (most times).
That sounds like a very good day. I might have to dust off the waffle iron and try the one minute muffin in it.
Ughhh, I feel your snacking pain. I had a snow day today and instead of being productive I think I snacked most of the day. I need an Oversnackers Anonymous group. I tracked it and it was eye opening.
I’m reading this while sitting in flannel pjs in my recliner…also loving relaxing evenings.
What book are you reading?
🙂 Marion
Are you sure you want to know? It’s Virus Hunters of the CDC. Nonfiction. It’s my light bedtime reading 😀
how true monday totally sets the tone for the rest of the week. I’ve noticed that if I wake up late on Monday that pretty much continues thru the week, shrinking valuable morning time 🙂
Sounds like a FINE Monday to me Lori. I hang my head, I didn’t work out as planned on Heart Healthy Weekend. Well, I went for a two hour walk with a friend of mine, we were yacking and walking and it didn’t feel like a good sweaty workout, but I guess it was something. My Friday power yoga class was cancelled, and I didn’t get there on Saturday. Congrats to all your readers who rose to the challenge. Have a great week.
How fun to go tropical with your fruit! And as for snacky days, ugh, they happen, but tracking helps so much in seeing that you didn’t make a colossal mistake, just more of a blip.
Why are we more snacky some days? Great idea to track it and see how quickly it adds up.
Love your little waffle idea.I will have to try the brussels with the coconut oil – I sometimes forget that I have that in my cupboard.
I love mango but slicing the fruit right is still difficult for me. Buying it already sliced is a great idea.
I love quiet Monday nights, I hardly ever have appointments on Monday.
I would define a binge as eating that 900 calories in a very short amount of time, say 10-15 minutes. I think what you did was overeat. Hey, it happens. Even Mr. Helen who I consider to be a “normal” eater has days when he overeats. And as I watch him it seems he just naturally adjusts his calories downward the next day.
I can’t wait to see the Heart Healthy photo collage!
That is the thing about tracking Lori & most likely why many don’t do it – IT TELLS YOU THE TRUTH!!! 😉 I don’t know – binging to me is when I just star & keep going no matter how gross I feel. Over eating to me is when I know I have taken a bit to much of this or that but it is not a day long streak of UGH! 😉 Yup, we just move on & get back to it! 🙂
Well somedays you just need the extra snacking. It’s the cost of living and staying sane. 😉
Besides, you’re right back on track with a grain-free day and that’s the important thing; that those higher calorie days are not getting you off track long-term.
Did you guys get your coffee maker yet? If so, how’s it working?
Two things really stood out to me in this post: The brussels sprouts. Those are something I think I should like and have tried numerous times. Maybe cut like you did it will make the difference. That’s my next attempt. The other thing was “flannel jambes and a book.” Now that’s my idea of a good time! LOL
