Bagel Wednesday and tulip update

Rainy and dreary today, which meant no biking to bagels this morning. I frowned at this last remnant of snow on the north side of our garage.

Go away!

I did some treadmill walking before starting out.  The gym was totally empty when I first got there because the early young guys are on spring break and away.  That works for me!

Exercise Set/rep/weight Muscle worked
Close Grip Lat Pulldown 3 sets of 12 at 50# Back
Cable standing leg curl (link) 3 sets of 10 at 30# Hamstrings
Horizontal Wood Chop 3 sets of 12 (each side) at 20# Core
Pushups 3 sets 10 Chest
Seated Calf Raise 3 sets 12 at 140# Calves
Pliet Squat 3 sets of 10 with 35# DB Lower Body
Dumbbell Press 3 sets of 12 with 10# DBs (20# total) Shoulders
Lower Back Extension 3 sets of 12 at 80# Low Back

The guy that hogs the cable machine was not there, so I did a couple exercises on that and lingered.  Sweet! Then I went and got John and we headed to North Country Cafe for brekkie. I had a wheat bagel.

John had a cinnamon scone which was really good!

Note:  I had to take 3 pictures of John because he was goofing around. 🙄

It was thundering out by the time we left to go home.  Good thing we didn’t try biking (I had thought about it).

I am really tired of this cold spring.  I looked at my blog last year and had some tulip blooms already.  Not this year.  Our house is cooler as well (cause we’re cheap) so my seedlings are still small.  Good thing, I guess, as they couldn’t go outside anyway!

This weekend also looks to be cool and rainy, so I made an executive decision to take off Friday afternoon and go for a long bike ride as that is the only nice day coming up.  Then I will just work Saturday morning.  I will do whatever it takes to get my fanny on the bike!

Lunch:

More roasted sweet potatoes.  With tuna.  24 grams of protein, baby!  Then I read Kelly’s post about the worm she found in her fish.  I just don’t know if I can eat any more fish (except fish poppers).

John made up lattes today, per usual.  Going to need a new machine soon.  I takes as long to make the lattes as it does dinner now.

I also had a date with almond butter, not pictured, but very good.

Work was slower in the afternoon, so I got some guitar practice done.  I have been so consistent with that this whole year.  Think it was the promise to video myself that is doing that.  Plus now I can play and it sounds like something as I get better.

Dinner was quick and tasty.  I heated up chicken breast and topped with Laughing Cow and hot sauce.

The dish of blueberries is my easy blueberry sauce (done in the microwave tonight, guess that works!).  It made a tasty side dish.

After dinner, I checked out how the tulips are going:

Some sun would certainly help these move along. (I’m looking in your direction Mother Nature…)

Painting tonight and a snack to be had.  Think it will involve pumpkin!

The snow photo cracked me up. I would have frowned too. The tulips and daffys are just now blooming this week around here. The sun broke through late this afternoon and just now as I was driving home from the dojo I noticed a few porches that had folks sitting here with coats on – that’s how desperate we are for some sun lo1!

I did a little frown at the snow as I am from upsate New York and know about snow! But as I now live in Florida I have a different issue as it was 96 degrees out today with the AC one. Guess it can’t always be perfect

There’s barely anything coming up yet 🙁 I love the picture of John he looks like he’s up to no good 🙂 I really must start a bagel and waffle day soon!

The fish worm is totally gross. But really, its could happen in almost anything we eat. There used to always be worms in the corn we got as kids. Yuck. I hated shucking corn. Now I’m so happy with my insecticidal veggies LOL.

Those blueberries as a side dish look tasty. And I HAVE to try out the pumpkin dessert.

Its cold here today too. I”ve had a fire going all day.

Yep, I’m all for the goofy pictures!

Lori, thanks for the packing tip – I will surely incorporate that into my strategy. Luckily for me, the move is only about a mile away, so most stuff will not have to be actually packed, more moved “as is”.

I would get rid of the little piece of snow, it would make me depressed still seeing it 🙂

I would love to send some of the hot weather we’re having your way. Going to see what I can do about that.

Weather here in CA has been bad for us too….. but at least no snow like you guys got!

Yahoo for getting to use the cable machine! So this guy will not let people work in??? Sounds like me! 😉 Thank goodness hardly anyone is around when I am there so I can do a lot of the things I want to…

    Have a good one!

Well, he will let you work in, but he just camps out there and it is annoying to have to keep changing the set up in between sets. It’s just nicer when he isn’t there!

Can you clean a latte machine like my coffee pot?? I know when my coffee starts coming out slow its time to clean it with vinegar??

    1. Lori Post author

Yes, you can clean it with vinegar, which I need to do. However, I fear it is just plain old age setting in!

I’m insanely jealous of your bagel Wednesdays. Insanely. Or maybe I’m just insane. 😛

Hate to say this but there are parasites (worms and critters and critter bits) in a lot of our foods. We usually just don’t see them. There are rat bits and bug bits in our chocolates (a certain percentage allowed by the govmt.). Also, my grandmother taught me to soak blackberries and mulberries in water. As they sit in the water little tiny white worms will come out of them. We usually don’t soak them though, right? Wash them off and pop them in our mouths. But they’re out there. I’ve never tested strawberries. I know an orthodox Jewish lady who has to look at her romaine lettuce under a light because there are very tiny, tiny bugs that get on there that you can’t really see and their religion makes them remove all bugs (plus who wants to eat bugs?!). I wonder if they know about the worms in the berries. 🙂

Hope spring arrives soon. Your snow by the garage is so much smaller! Please send some rain here. Texas is in a drought. Burn bans and everything.

Don’t be jealous of the bagel, Kelly. Don’t forget I get raving cravings when I have it – which is the price I pay.

Yeah, bugs and stuff. I know there is a certain percentage of rodent droppings allowed in food as well. Sometimes it is best not to think about this stuff. But hey, bugs are protein!

I really wish I could go back in time and not read the comment about berries above. 🙁 I love berries and I don’t know if I’ll be able to eat them now. The fish didn’t upset me nearly so bad because the fact that it is cooked makes it a little less gross.

Anyhow I hope Spring heads your way soon! I was in TN for a few days it was so nice and warm. I wanted to stay there!

BTW I use the same secret omelette technique as you!

I cracked up at having to take lots of pictures of John because he was goofing around. You two seem so fun!!! My wish for you is warm spring weather. SOON!!!!! Have a good day Lori.
