Happy Monday!

A new week is here, and the end of March! The first quarter of 2008 is gone already. Jeez time goes by so fast!

I did a little small order with NS when they had their clearance sale. It came today, and there was my 80 pound bear! Yay! Very orange – blaze orange. The name on this one is ‘workout bear’. Look at those big arms!! Very appropriate for me, I think!

Today’s menu.

Happy Sunday!

Got back from my short trip. I did pretty well eating, other than a big scoop of ice cream on Saturday. I asked for a child’s size, which was one scoop. Well – that scoop was really big!
Tasted pretty good, though! Yum! I haven’t figured out Saturday’s calories yet. Being away from your own computer is hard when you are addicted to it!

Did Cardio overdrive tonight for exercise. I can’t believe how I am looking forward to my strength training workout tomorrow. I will be upping weights on a few of the exercises. Not sure how the weekend’s food will affect weight loss this week, but that’s okay.

Just a day

Just a normal day today. Nothing exciting happening. I did the Leslie Sansone 3 mile WATP dvd. I find have have to move more vigorously to get my heart rate up. I wonder if I will eventually not get much benefit out of these workouts?

Today’s menu – not in order of eating.

Weigh in day!

Today is weigh in day, and I lost 2 pounds! After losing 0.2 last week, this was a nice change LOL! I was concerned that the new lifting program would make me maintain again, but it didn’t. Hope it continues.
The good news is – according to my BMI I am no longer obese, just overweight!

Today’s food. Note that I ate out twice and still came in under calories (1500). This is called working my program! Not that I would do this very often LOL!

Motivation: Friend or Foe?

I think the value of motivation is over rated. Motivation is what drives everyone to try to lose weight. But – motivation is fleeting. It lasts until you hit your first speed bump, like a holiday, an office party or a crappy day. Everyone wants motivation, and yet we keep chasing after something that is impermanent.

So what keeps you going (or keeps me going)? It is dedication and the realization that there is no choice but to continue on my healthy path. If I don’t choose that, I go back to the old me. Not an option.

Monday, monday

Good eating day today. Easter was not a big holiday in our house, so no food atonement for me today LOL!

I did my full body workout with bowflex. I upped the weights on the biceps curls to 20 pounds. I think next week I will be up to 25 pounds. I figure this new weight training is going to make me maintain for a few weeks, and I really want to be okay with that. I hope I am LOL!
I also did Hard Core Fusion for the cardio workout.

Good saturday

Still doesn’t quite feel like Spring outside. Mid 30s and sunny, but windy and brisk. Took a short walk outside. I really want to get my bike out!!

Feeling a little sore from my bowflex, particularly in the tricep and hip area. I added a new hip abductor exercise and boy howdy, I feel it today!!

Happy Friday!

Yay – the weekend! We actually started it a bit early. Forwarded the business phone to the cell and went out to a coffee shop where I had a small skim latte.
We then hit the mall, and got a bunch of Zone bars on sale at Target. $1 a bar! That’s at least 20 cents cheaper than the grocery store.

After that it was dinner time, so we decided to stop at a pizza place. I have been craving a calzone for a while, and wanted to split one with DH, since they are big. So, we each got a side salad and split the calzone. Back in the old days, I would have eaten the whole calzone in one sitting. It was a nice meal, not too filling and seemed very decadent. I wouldn’t want to do this very often, as it was more rich than I am used to.

Did my second full body bowflex workout. Wednesday was the test day to see how tired I got during the reps, and I adjusted the weights upward this time to reach fatigue. I do 2 sets of 10 reps each, with a very slow count. My muscles were shaky for a while after doing that.

Then I got the Firm Boot Camp dvd from Netflix today. Did that as well, it didn’t seem as tough as the Hard Core Fusion, but I was doing more of the beginner moves. I will keep this one for a while.

Weigh in day!

Lost 0.2 pounds this week. No big deal, I didn’t eat poorly last week, so could be any number of things.

I slept very poorly last night, though – and today I feel like a bottomless pit. I don’t know why being tired makes me hungry, but it does. I have eaten about 2000 calories today, which is quite high for me. Could be worse – but I don’t like that empty feeling. The extra calories are coming from the foods I normally have in the house, at least it isn’t McDonald’s or anything. Still bothersome to have a binge, though.
I did do some extra exercise to help offset some of the food.

We were planning on going our to split a calzone tomorrow, but I might put the kibosh on that, since I did not eat well today.

Weigh in is tomorrow

I took a sneak peek at the scale today, and looks like there will be little to no loss tomorrow. But, again – no telling until the morning! It’s not about the scale anymore.

I really feel like I have a good handle on how to eat for life. This isn’t about point counting, or eating prepackaged food, or how much weight loss how fast. It is about feeding my body the fuel it needs to live a long and healthy life. Understanding the nutritional value of food and exercise, and know that as long as I am doing those things right, the scale number is secondary.
