Rethinking Thin

I have been reading a book called Rethinking Thin. This is really a good read about the struggles that people have with keeping the weight off after losing and why this might be the case. It’s a bit depressing, I have to say. The success rate is so small. I do think the conclusions drawn from the study could be further researched and would be quite interesting.

Quiet workout day today. Just a 3.5 mile walk, done in two chunks. Also did some outside work. Such a beautiful day!

Hectic Day

Busy day getting ready for a conference this weekend. Actually I won’t be going, John is, but I had to pack all of the stuff to sell. Took days to do that, but got it done and the car all packed.
When he gets back on Sunday, I have to go to Vermont for another conference! Will be interesting trying to fit my exercise in, but I will do it!

It should be a slam dunk into the 150s this week. Watch I just jinxed myself LOL!

Did my bowflex upper body workout today, and then Hard Core Fusion by the Firm. I can’t believe that I am sort of looking forward to my C25K tomorrow. I must really be going crazy.

I forgot to post about a mini victory for me yesterday. I was at the tax assessor’s office, trying to work on what appears to be an unequal assessment on my flip house. The other homes in the neighborhood are assessed at between $80 and $100 per square foot – mine is assessed at $145 per square foot. Unbelievable. Anyway the assessor basically ignored our paperwork, comps and appraisals and said she would call me back in 2 weeks. I was so frustrated when I got home – I went straight to the dark chocolate chips. Grabbed the bag and then stopped myself. I said “I am *not* going to let that woman make me eat!!”. And I put them away. I’m still pretty irritated with her, though LOL!

Nice day today

Took another long bike ride today. I was planning on a lighter day today, but ended up doing the 13 mile bike ride. There was a head wind on the way home, so I got a bit more tired than I thought I would.

I am trying to make my own yogurt today. I will post tomorrow about the success (or lack thereof).

Great day for a bike ride

78 degrees and sunny in mid April! Excellent day. You can see the route below that we took today along the bike trail.
The bike trail comes pretty close to a coffee shop, so we stopped there and then went back home. Almost 13 miles, and I felt pretty good!

Beautiful day!

There are those times when the weather forecaster could not be more wrong! We were supposed to have a dreary, rainy day in the upper 50s. Well, it turned out sunny, gorgeous and about 64 degrees!
Went out for a long walk, and then took the bikes out again. DH rode a different bike, so he was much faster and the workout was better because of it. The walk went by a bakery, and we stopped in. I decided to get a scone, they looked very tasty (and it was!!). Have to guestimate the calories for that.

Tomorrow I am going to the Y with my sister, so today ended up being my higher calorie day, since we went out for bagels today instead.

Hope it’s a good day tomorrow! Slow and steady wins the race. If I can clock in at 160 point something – then it will be 10 pounds in 8 weeks. That’s a pretty good loss rate for me. I know it wouldn’t make many other people happy, but I’ll take it!

I must be crazy

Today I decided to do the Couch to 5K program. I tried this before about 20+ pounds ago and didn’t like it. Not quite sure why I feel the need to try again. I have been wanting to try some HIIT, and maybe this seems a good way to go about.
However – the first go around was way easier than I remember! I must be in better shape or something. The 60 second jogs were no problem, and I recovered very quickly. After 2 more times, then the 90 second jogs. That will be the real test. I never made it past the 2nd week the last time.

Could I really make it to goal?? Is it possible??

Weigh in day!

I lost 0.8 pounds this week! I am still losing even though I have started serious strength training. That is great!

I am now going to do Nutrisystem foods 3 days per week (instead of every other day). Those days will be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
My calorie goal per day is 1350, with 2 days at 1500 (Wed and Sun). I really don’t want to drop my calories any more until I hit a plateau.

Today I went over by 35 calories, but I ended up with extra exercise.

Kind of curious as to what tomorrow will bring on the scale. Guess I have to wait!
I think I discouraged some people lately. For whatever reason, about 6 people have asked either what is my secret or how long it has taken to lose 87 pounds. When I say 4 years of hard work, I don’t think that was the answer expected LOL! Oh well. I am very thankful to be where I am today.

Here is a funny NSV. DH and I were out walking today. A car drove by and a guy leaned out the window and yelled “You guys are too old to be walking”. Keep in mind that we are both 39 LOL! I about died laughing.

I thought this was an NSV because I was fully expecting to hear “you are too *fat* to be walking”
