Windy!

Thanks for the thoughts and well wishes.  (I still have not heard anything yet, so hopefully Monday?) I wasn’t sure I wanted to say anything on the blog because it may be no big deal, but I also didn’t want to just post la-la-la like I wasn’t having anxiety about something.

The waiting bothers me because I am one of those people that just likes to have a plan.  Then I can do something about it,whatever it is.  Control freak, much? LOL!

I had a good workout at the gym today.

Exercise Set/rep/weight Muscle worked
Split Squats 3 sets of 10 with 55# bar Lower Body
Seated Lat Row 3 sets of 12 at 40# Back
Good Mornings 3 sets of 12 with 45# bar Hammmies and low back
Trunk Twist 3 sets of 30 Core
Incline Dumbbell Chest Press 3 sets of 12 with 20# DBs (40# total) Hammies and low back
YTWL 3 sets of 4 each letter with 5# DBs (10# total) Shoulders

This routine tired me out, though.  My lifting has been feeling harder lately, even though I lightened up the weights.  I am now doing 2 days a week of lifting.

I then did 2 miles on the treadmill.  I am not using my bike trainer as much and doing more walking to stay used to walking since we will be doing a lot at Disney!  About 2 weeks away now.  Yay, yay, yay!!

I was ready for breakfast when I got home.  Banana custard oats topped with PB and some homemade peach jam I made over the summer.

The weighing out of 16 grams of peanut butter always reminds me of how much bigger my eyes are than real portions.  16 grams is 1 tablespoon of PB and about 100 calories.  Breakfast is also paired with my Broncos cup for good luck this weekend!

Lunchtime brought eggs!  Cheese omelet to be exact.

One of those days I am glad to work at home.  The temps dropped and the wind has just been terrible!  50 mile per hour gusts.  Yuck.   I was glad to have my latte today.

I took this picture with my left hand as Pixie is laying across my right arm here.  It’s sort of like being locked to the keyboard with that arm.  😀  She is good warm comfort, though.  Not to mention I have a Broncos snuggie that I wear.  And I am not joking!

Dinner tonight was a quick cooking of chicken in taco seasoning topped with sour cream.

I am in that rut with that flavor combo right now.  But it works!

Staying in tonight.  It would be nice to go out on a Friday night, but in this cold and wind, staying bundled up and snuggled up inside sounds so much more appealing!  I have some cereal as my snack.

Okay, 2 of these, but better eating day today for sure.

Question:  Anything fun planned for the weekend?

Grain-free challenge done!

Well, we made it through Irene.  Lots of rain. Lots and lots of rain! Plus wind  There  is flooding in our area and poor Vermont is just heartbreaking.  The water levels will continue to rise for the next day or so.  Cleanup starts today.  Power outages in the area, but luckily our power stayed on. Not sure how we managed that.  My sister was without power for most of yesterday.  My garden bed came through pretty well.  Just the asters have problems and those were the ones I thought would get bent like this because they were at the leading edge of the wind.

Also one coneflower went over.

So thankful that is all the damage we had.

I also made it through my 21 days grain-free challenge!  It went by fast.  I will talk more in detail in a couple days when I do my monthly wrap up.  Now, I am not going to dive into a grain silo or anything.  I am introducing 1 serving of grain back a day and actually will continue with some grain-free days.  My grain to come back to?

Pumpkin oats!  Helen was right.

It was a very chilly morning at 53 degrees, so I put oats on the menu.  These were quite good!  It was definitely weird eating oats after 3 weeks without.

I was surprised to be able to log into work this morning.  The company I work for is in Lake George, and they had flooding yesterday.  My beloved lake! Hopefully that is better now.

Moving on to lunch…Lunch included some tuna.  I bought a couple cans not knowing if we were going to have power or not, so may as well eat them up.

Pixie did fine during Irene. She didn’t like when the wind was really blowing hard in gusts and that got her antsy, but slept through a lot of it.  It’s cold today so she is heat seeking again.  I got up for lunch and came back to find her stealing my seat.

She’s so funny – I just use 2 hands to scoop her out of the seat in this position and move her to the couch.  She doesn’t care and falls right back asleep.

My favorite time of day!

I should paint my nails.  I think I am the only woman in blogland that doesn’t paint her nails.

Finished up work really early today – yay!  So, I joined John for a walk to the post office.  We had a lot of boxes going out.  It is about 3/4 of a mile to the post office from our house.  While there, we checked out the river downtown.

It’s very high.  I wonder if it was over the bank yesterday?

We came back to make dinner.  I had roasted up a chicken yesterday so that we could snack on it all week.  Hope you like chicken, because you will be seeing it this week!

I also raided John’s chocolate stash for dessert:

It’s annoying that each little miniature has 42 calories.  I could scarf 10 with no problem (and have).

On tonight’s agenda?  Getting some frozen stuff.  We did not buy any in case we lost power, so I am almost out of broccoli (noooooooo!!!!), and I need my Wyman’s blueberries.

Might be sneaking in a decaf coffee, too

Storm tracker

Thanks for all the thoughts on my little bike tumble.  Truth be told, I have had much worse.  About 20 years ago, I had a head-on collision with another biker.  I was covered in bruises from that one!  My chest is quite sore today with a bit of a bump.  I actually noticed it most with my C25K training today because it hurt with each step.

After doing the run, I came in for breakfast.

What is that, you ask?  It is waffle integrity fail.  I cooked the coconut flour waffles too long and that makes them stick to the waffle iron and crumble.  Taste = good, appearance = bad.

Another mess?  My lunch!

This was Fage 2% with strawberries, flax, and honey.

I have to say that I am starting to become a little alarmed about Irene.  I don’t like the look of the models.

We have so many trees in the area that just aren’t going to be up to a huge storm.  They don’t bend in high winds, they break.  We figure we will be losing power.

John calmed me down with a latte.  I took a picture sitting down and he is as tall as Paul Bunyan!

Guess that would make me Babe…

We both had long work days today, so we decided to go out for dinner.  Stopped at O’Tooles.

It was quite busy there and a little later than we normally eat.  They now have a dedicated gluten-free menu and a separate fryer.  Isn’t that nice?  Of course, gluten-free doesn’t mean grain-free, so I still had to pick around the menu.  I decided on a baker with chili.

I ate about 3/4 of this potato and I am full now! They have such a huge menu there and you can watch any sporting event on TV.  I like eating here and we probably should do it more often.

After eating, we stopped for a few staples for losing power and such.

Lots of toilet paper, non perishables and nuts!  We also filled up the gas tank.  Yes, early – but we don’t drive very much and figured we would avoid any crowds as the weekend draws closer.

Project Runway *and* football tonight!

Question:  Do you like the bigger pictures or no?
