Very sad news to hear about Prince’s passing today. His songs were part of my high school years. We had Purple Rain on LP. Gone too soon.
It’s been a strange year this 2016…
I hope that I have made some progress here with the pictures showing up in the RSS readers. I need to get that figured out. I know just enough web stuff to get me in trouble and not enough to get me out of it. I’m sure many of you are like me where you just want to read in your reader and not click on each site. That’s one reason why I really dislike truncated posts in my reader. If a blog starts doing truncated posts, I often will remove them from my reader, especially if it is one I just like to read and not comment on very often – so I don’t want to go to the site to read the rest. Anyway, sorry for that side rant.
The weather has been nice and sunny this week. Actually, we really could use some rain. The temps rose into the 70s today. I was out riding with a light jacket on when it was in the 60s and then had to ditch it about halfway through the ride. Good thing I was prepared in my bag:
My arms are not ready for prime time after a winter being covered up.
I’m making more effort on veggies again. Reading Helen’s blog got me wanting roasted veggie pasta! I had a bag of frozen stir fry veggies, basically colored pepper strips and onions. I roasted the whole bag up with salt and pepper and cobbled together an interesting dish. I cooked up some pasta and added crumbled vegetarian meat balls (these were left over in the fridge. Added some of the roasted veggies and this turned out pretty flavorful even without any pasta sauce.
Looks pretty, too. Now I have roasted veggies to put in an omelet tomorrow.
I mentioned this on FB earlier. We turned our heat off a couple days ago. Since our house is cement and brick, it holds an ambient temperature pretty well, so even though the nights are cold, the house only drops to about 64-65. Well, Ms. Pixie is not happy that the radiators are not coming on since that is her daily lounge spot. She is now lap cat again.
Sometimes she just wants to be held like this. I’m the only one she does this with, not sure why. She is cute, though.
Tomorrow I start my volunteer work with the Chapman Historical Museum. They only ask 3 hours a month, which is a lot easier than when I did the literacy tutoring, which was basically 8 hours a month.
It’s walkable to get there, about 1.25 miles, which is nice. Eventually I will trained to be guiding tours there, but for now it’s doing reception and learning the ropes. The museum is housed in a beautiful old home and is dedicated to local history.
Tomorrow I will have real blooms for What’s Blooming! So I really hope the pictures are fixed 😀 Cross your fingers.
