5 Days of Clean Eating done!

I made it through my mini-challenge pretty much 100%. I did have a teaspoon of dark chocolate chips last night, but I don’t consider dark chocolate to be junk.
Any other challengers out there have success? I hope so! (Dave, I’m looking in your direction!)

So, the weekend is here, and I know I will be having a cupcake 🙂 . Going out with my sis for a 5K run together later this morning. It’s neat running with her, we both took up running in April and it is something to do together besides eat!! LOL.

I’ve really been thinking hard about my macros. I want to get to 40/30/30 (currently around 50/25/25), but I have found I just can’t do that with my current menus without either increasing the amount of food, or playing with the food itself. So, I have made a decision to go back to 2% milk. I need to get my fat content up for the macros to fall better, and I didn’t want to just add more fat by itself. 2% milk will keep the protein there, plus give me a bit more fat without a whole lot more calories than the 1% I was drinking. A few more fat grams per day will help. If that goes well, then I will probably move to 2% Fage yogurt instead of 0%. That is the only fat free dairy I currently use.
I made a decision not to increase the nuts I eat in a day, because nuts can be a big trigger food for me if I am not careful. I eat 1/3 of an ounce, and wanted to wait until maintenance to increase that food item.

It’s a little scary to be playing with this close to goal, but gradual changes won’t disturb anything.

Looking at a new September workout routine, I will post more on that this weekend.

Jogging, eating clean

Okay, 2 days done of clean eating, and today clean so far, **editing here to take out the soft serve. Didn’t end up going!**

Caught myself starting to do the little mousie nibbles today. Twice, and I stopped myself. That really became a habit!!

So, the rest day on cardio really did me good. I had nice fresh legs for this morning.

Eating clean. My promise.

I am going to eat the cleanest I possibly can this week. This blog is going to hold me accountable! I hereby promise that this week will be clean and focused!
The scale shows a gain from over the weekend, despite all the biking. I have decided that tomorrow I am going no cardio, since I have worked it hard for about a week straight now. Must take a rest day on my legs; it is so hard to do that!

Had a good jog today, although my legs were complaining pretty hard for the first 1/4 mile. That is what made me decide to give them a break tomorrow (wimps!!!).

Another foggy run and new PB!

You know how when you do something for a while, you see progress fast at first, then progress slows down? Then for whatever reason it picks back up again? That’s happening with my jogging.

I did a new personal best on Monday, and beat that today! 3 miles in 34:53! It was foggy and cool again this morning (although it will be 85 later!!), maybe that is what is making me faster.

Take that stupid cookies from yesterday!

Weigh in day!

Well, didn’t lose the requisite 0.6 this week, I lost 0.8 LOL! Almost a pound! Yipee!
Now I have officially less than 10 pounds to goal. Guess this is the hardest 10, but we shall see.

Did a new personal best jogging this morning. Funny how I said the other day that I ran faster later in the day. Cold here in the northeast – it was in the low 50s while jogging! Don’t know if that helped or not. So I finished at 35:25, or about 11:44 per mile. I hope to consistently do this through to the next race in Sept.

Feeling good!

A good eating day today. Got up this morning and did a 3 mile jog. I can’t seem to jog as fast in the morning as in the afternoon or evening. Today was 36:30. Maybe I am just tired or stiff in the morning, even though it doesn’t feel that way.

I have to say the the jog bra I got last week (Bestform) is super! The tag said with extra ‘Bounce Control’ LOL. I love it!! I think I am going to go buy a spare so that I don’t have to keep washing this one. I’m a super sweater. Guess that was TMI from the beginning of this paragraph…..

Will end the day at 50/25/25, with my last planned snack of soy crisps. Going to eat those during Monday Night Football!! Yippee! It always feels good to be in control.

Finally – a bike ride!

A couple dry days in a row, so we got out for a bike ride today. Yay! Felt good. I also did a 2 mile jog this morning, since I knew I would be having a big cupcake later in the day, so wanted some extra cardio.

Had to go down and feed my sister’s chickens today, so we stayed around Saratoga for a while. There is a new shop there that sells cupcakes only (Spa City Cupcakes). Saw it last time I was down, but didn’t get anything. I have been wanting one, and I said to myself on Thursday that I could have one on Saturday if I wanted, and if I ate well during the week. Both of those were applicable today, so I got one. It was really, really sweet. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but not sure how soon I would get another one. Talk about a sugar high! I could feel my muscles thrumming about 10 minutes after I finished it. John didn’t finish his, and it was all I could do not to eat the frosting he had left! LOL! Definitely not used to food like that anymore at all. Really glad I did both bike and jog today.

Also, I jogged yesterday and had a new PB!! did 3 miles and finished in 35:45, so less than a 12 minute mile! I downloaded a new set of tunes from http://jogtunes.com – called ‘around the world’, and I think the tempo of that really got me moving.

The scale continues to inch downward, which is a good feeling. Seems to be a little faster in August than it was in July, but that’s not saying much 🙂
I kind of like the daily checking now, as I can see how I can maintain what I am doing and be successful. Even when I have days where I eat too much, it really isn’t more than 2000 calories, which is barely a blip on the scale (as long as I don’t do that multiple days in a row, knock on wood).

Furnace finally done!

We had a new furnace installed, and it has taken a few weeks while they do various parts of the install, which has been quite annoying. We had to get all new duct work done as well. So, today was the final day of work, and they were here until almost 8pm! I had wanted to go bike riding tonight, but it was going to get dark before I got enough of a ride in. So, I ended up doing a WATP workout.

When am I going to get a bike ride in??? Grrrr…….
I am hoping for at least one long ride this weekend, if not 2 🙂

Wanting to munch a bit today, but have managed not to go above 1500 calories. I wish I could afford one of those bodybuggs, would be nice to see if I am eating enough. That’s my biggest worry, that I will mess up my metabolism by not eating enough.

Went shopping last night for new sneakers! I am so hard on my shoes, and always have been. I would have thought that losing 100 pounds would give me more time with my shoes, but apparently not. My new running shoes I got in May – toast. The soles are worn down and have a rip in the side. Anyway, I got a new pair of running shoes and a new jog bra. Kind of excited about that! Will test it out tomorrow LOL!

Some redemption

Okay – I went out and jogged for 30 minutes, so I feel much better about the day. I ended up at around 2000 calories for the day. Not a total catastrophe, it certainly could have been worse, but I must be on top of my game tomorrow.

I did ask John to take the rest of the zuchinni bread to his poker game to get that temptation out of the house!
