Ah, the beginning of the week

Mondays are always fun, aren’t they? It is always the busiest day for me, so the rest of the week is usually cake.

I decided to run this morning (normally I like evening runs), since I was going to be tying up loose ends at my investment property before my new tenants move in at the end of the week. Well, I went to the high school track, and they had big equipment on the track, since the football field was being torn up. I did one loop around, and they started moving equipment around and I didn’t want to get hit! The one main road is torn up, so I went around some side streets and hit even more construction. It was really annoying, I have to say. I did about 2.3 miles today.
Then my lower body bowflex workout.

I also rode my bike to my investment property – 2 miles each way (maybe a shade more). That’s enough for today, I think!

Ate well.

Sunday bike ride

Had a nice long bike ride today. About 15 miles. We stopped at the ice cream shop and I had some Only8 frozen yogurt that I love so much. How is this for anal – I brought a scale to weigh the serving, so that I could calculate it correctly LOL! I knew it was much more than 2 servings, and it turned out to be just shy of 5. Still only 175 calories for all of that! Geez, I love that stuff!

I have to say, my legs are so strong now. I bike at a pretty rapid clip consistently, but it doesn’t feel hard. We kept passing people, and I asked my husband if I was going fast, or people were dawdling. He said that I was keeping up a pretty good pace. I think the running has also helped my legs get stronger. I will likely have stocky looking thighs, being a shorty – but if they are muscular – I don’t care!

another 5K

Since it is so much cooler today, I decided to jog for longer. I did a whole 5K! Took me 49 minutes. I really would like to get the time down to 45 minutes by the end of July when I do an actual run, but this was only the 2nd time I have done the whole 5K.

I wore a fitted ‘wicking’ shirt and my bike shorts. Pretty figure revealing, and I was a bit self conscious going down the road to the track, but no one called me any names LOL! Need new bike shorts, though. They cling – but the longer I exercise, the further they creep down my thighs because they are a bit too big.

Here is a picture of me on the bike trail at Vermont. Day of the 20 mile bike ride!

Fabulous weekend

Had a great weekend. We went up to Burlington VT. Took our bikes in the car and decided to stay a little outside of Burlington and bike there on Saturday.
We got there Friday night and walked around downtown, listened to some music (jazz festival weekend) and had dinner in the park.

On Saturday, we got the bikes out and biked to breakfast (bagel), and then decided to run the path along the lake before it got too hot. We biked along the lakefront up to the Winooski river bridge. The whole day we covered at least 20 miles.
After the morning ride, we rode back to downtown and walked for a lot of miles. It was probably at least 5 during the day. We did shopping, a museum, and just walking around. Had lunch at the farmers market. Wonderful samosas from a vendor. I just got 2, they were small.
Dinner was at a small cafe, and I had a turkey sandwich with cheese. It was a pretty big sandwich on crusty bread.
Got back to the inn, and just crashed. I was so tired! My legs were really rubbery at that point. Took a dip in the pool, which was really cold (polar bear club anyone??), but refreshing.

Today, we biked to breakfast, then loaded up and drove to Waterbury. Went to the Green Mountain cafe and had a cappuccino (skim, of course), then we went to the Ben & Jerry’s factory tour. That was short and nice, with a sample of ice cream at the end. We didn’t end up getting anything at the scoop shop.
Stopped for lunch in a little town on the way home. One of those places where what you order sounds healthy, but isn’t really in reality. A little greasy, but quite good.

Glad to be back home, and I have no idea what the results of this weekend will be on the scale, but I am not concerned if there is a gain. I know I was over on calories. Hope the biking will smooth things out a bit.

Breezy Sunday

Went for a bike ride today, it was into a strong wind – so it felt like going uphill for the whole way! Then of course, the wind changed directions on our way back, so no break there. Whew. 1 hour and 15 minutes. We stopped for frozen yogurt, which was good – although again, I got a kiddie size – and it had to be a cup of ice cream! Jeez.

Went over on calories today, but that happens sometimes. I need to be careful this week, with going out to dinner for my birthday coming up.

We are slowly changing our way of eating. We are not buying any more meat unless it is locally grown and butchered. And eating more vegetarian. So, we did buy meat at the farmers market yesterday. Beefalo. Interesting stuff! These farmers have been raising beefalo for 20 years. It was quite good on the grill. Very lean, and lots of protein.

Long bike ride today

It was such a beautiful day today! We went for a longer bike ride. 16 miles. 8 miles to an ice cream shop and back. DH wanted to stop there, I did not want any ice cream – since I had Only 8 frozen yogurt yesterday, I certainly didn’t need ice cream today.
He got some, and I had two licks of his and that was it. Funny I didn’t even have any desire to have any.

According to my HRM – I burned over 600 calories on this ride, so I did bump my daily calories up to 1500 instead of 1350.

Lots of biking today!

Well, I seem to have my head in the correct place again. That was definitely an uncomfortable few days there. Going to my parents’ house for a few days, so that will be another challenge for me. Will bring some NS foods, just in case.

Biked a lot today. Did 4 miles to my flip house and back (mowed the lawn there), then we went for an afternoon ride. At least 13 miles if not more. Went further than planned. There is an ice cream shop on the bike path that serves Only8 frozen yogurt. You can get a nice big frozen yogurt for only 160 calories, flavored any way you like. I had espresso. Yum! Then we actually went a bit further down the path, just for kicks. Maybe added another mile onto the tally. I am tired now. No more exercise for the rest of the day!
