It’s pretty crazy how you blink and it is almost 2019! This past year has been pretty crazy and definitely went in different directions that we thought.
My jewelry business took on a life of its own and kind of consumed my life the last quarter. At least now I know better how to prepare for that next year so it won’t be such a surprise.
I checked on what my goals for 2018 were and see how I did with those. To be honest, I couldn’t even remember what they were, although I was pretty sure eat more veggies was on there 😀
- Eat more vegetables. Yep – this was on there LOL! I don’t think I did much different with this than usual. I ate more vegetarian, but that doesn’t necessarily mean more vegetables .
- Read 15 books. I was not able to complete this. I ended up reading about 8. I put in a lot hours doing things for the business, which cut into that time. I do puzzles on my Kindle at bedtime, which will put me to to sleep in about 10 minutes – seriously, it’s like a sleeping pill.
- Work on an organizational system. Let’s take a moment and all laugh at this one. Nope.
- Continue being an advocate for the environment. This one I did and do. Among other things, John and I pretty much gave up plastic straws and try to request no straws when we go out to eat. I compost and continue working on my pollinator gardens – plus donating a portion of my proceeds from my business to groups that support pollinators, like this one. Always room for improvement, but a goal that I did well on.
- Spend time with body weight exercises and stretching on a regular basis. Oh my gosh, this was a complete fail. I miss my lifting and I need to think about rejoining the gym. It might fit into the budget next year.
So, yeah – whiffed a lot on those goals. We definitely need to do some strategizing for 2019 to make things more streamlined as far as business goes and keeping up our home life and down time.
How were your goals for 2018 if you made any?
Prior to 2018, I’d had two years in a row where life slowly imploded then blew by years end. Even at the beginning of 2018, I was still dealing with my husbands broken leg and having to completely run the household on my own. So I made absolutely no resolutions or plans for 2018 as it felt like I just needed to get through each day. This worked out so well for me that I’m doing that again lol!
We were kind of in survival mode the last couple of months of 2018 and our house looks like a bomb went off. Well, not as bad since we hosted Christmas Eve dinner and had to get at least the main floor in order 😀 .
Yay, I can comment! It’s fantastic how your jewelry line exploded – was that even in your mindset a year ago? I don’t do resolutions anymore on New Year’s, but I do set some mini goals throughout the year, as I come to them. Happy New Year!
What a pain that was to get sorted out with tech support. I’m not even quite sure what they did to fix it, so hopefully it won’t happen again LOL.
As far as jewelry, It was not necessarily my mindset. My goal was to grow the soap business, but things got flip flopped and now I need to make some hard decisions regarding that. I like to have the goals just to sort of give some focus to things, but obviously last year was just a weird one 😀
Happy New Year Lori!
Hi Lori –
Happy New Year. My resolutions went pretty well. Two: “consistency over intensity” and “resilience”. I’m keeping both of those for 2019 as well.
I’ve been really working on the head game with more yoga and meditation – less intense (HIIT and boot camp) exercise. I too have strength training/lifting on my action list.
I ended up the year almost the same weight as last new years which is great. My calf continues to bug me (causing Achilles problems) so I’m going to continue to work on it. (rolling, strengthening hips, and using a lacrosse ball on the knotty spot.)
Hydrate. That’s another one I’m adding to the action list.
Love hearing about your bike rides, your soap/jewelry/graphic design biz and your volunteering. Hope you have a WONDERFUL 2019!!
