Woke up this morning to a nice view out the window:
Oh wait, wrong picture….
I headed out to the gym in the snow, because schools were just delayed at the time, so I figured that the snow would end soon. I did the following workout:
- Chinups: 2
- Romanian barbell deadlift: 3 sets of 8 at 75 pounds
Alternating sets:
- Barbell bench press: 3 sets of 8 at 65 pounds (hard!)
- Seated lat row: 3 sets of 8 at 70 pounds
Alternating sets:
- Reverse lunges with 1 dumbell on shoulder: 3 sets at 20 pounds
- Arnold press: 3 sets of 10 with 10 pound dumbbells
- Plank: 3 sets with 90 second holds.
The planks were hard today. I did okay with the first 2 sets, then had to touch down my knees on the 3rd.
While I was working out (and I was the only one at the gym!) the radio began listing schools closures instead of delays. It was snowing pretty hard, so I decided to not do cardio and just go home. Good thing, too. We ended up with 9 inches of snow!
That meant no Wednesday bagel…booooo!!!! Oh well. Had a nice warm and nummy breakfast of cream of wheat cooked with a banana, cocoa powder, and topped with almond butter and a few sprinkles of dark chocolate chips.
After doing it bit of work, it was time to shovel the driveway! Here I am all ready to go out and shovel.
I forgot that shoveling is not only cardio, but it is a strength workout as well. I was already tired, too. But, at least it is done. We have a wimpy electric snowblower, which can’t handle the packed stuff at the end of the driveway from the plows, so that is done by hand still.
Happy days:
Lunch time was an egg sandwich. You all know the drill!
This anjou pear was delightful, too!
This is one of those days where I am so thankful that I work at home and don’t have to commute in this stuff. I need to really remember that when I get frustrated.
I had a blanket and a cat on my lap while working for extra warmth. Plus, John made lattes!
Ornament of the day:
America runs on Dunkins, right? We do get coffee from there. In fact, DD is about 1/2 mile from my house and I pass it on one of my regular run routes. My sister got me this ornament. I do like donuts, but they are pretty rare for me nowadays.
Mondo stirfry for dinner! I used 2 veggies in it! Shredded brussel sprouts and broccoli, plus some chicken and teryaki sauce. It made a huge plate. Plus a kiwi.
I am going to try to fiddle with the comments so that hopefully they will notify those who want to be. We will see if it works!
Question: Do you run on Dunkins?
If we had a Dunkins here, then probably yes. Actually I am not a big fan of coffee (please don’t ban me from your blog). Just kidding, I like a decaff now and again with a splash of flavoured coffee. Most of those coffees you show pictures of look good too. I guess I need to expand my coffee horizons.
I love that you have alternating pics at the top of your blog! So cool.
I was consider the name of your blog…Finding Radiance – Food, fitness and happiness and figured out one of the main reasons I enjoy your blog.
It is your HAPPINESS! It “radiates” through my screen. Thanks for adding some of your happiness to my world.
I am going to experiment with being notified. Let’s see if this works…

Kimberly – thank you so much – that is such a sweet thing to say
WOW, that’s a lot of snow!!! I am spoiled out here in California. Stay warm!

Never been a huge donut fan, so Dunkins isn’t on my list…that’s not to say though that I haven’t eaten them. LOL
Great job with the snow – where our place is we missed a lot of the snow that just blew through the state, but 20miles west of us they got hammered.

Haha! Love the tropical pic. We can dream right? Pixie looks like she is probably happy to be in the house… Your stir fry looks yummy. Donuts are a food I try to avoid, they trigger bad binge memories for me…Good for you for getting out to the gym in that kind of cold!

GAWD, I haven’t had a donut let alone a Dunkin one in forever. I always think I want one …but I would rather have a toll house cookie!
haha
a latte though…sound good.

I have never in my life been to a DD. Is that terrible? I have heard the coffee is great, but have never ventured away from my Starbucks. I would love to have a donut, but won’t for very obvious reasons! lol… it feels good to turn those down.

Hey Lori, last time I commented on your blog, I said I was waiting for a snow storm to hit. Boy howdy it was a good one, especially for us Californians that are never really prepared. My power was off for 3 days and just came on half an hour ago…of course, blog catch up was my first order of business! I heard this was a fast moving storm and it had already reached the east coast, so maybe your storm is my storm?

I think it was the same system. Packed a punch, didn’t it? I wondered where you were!
I don’t think I’ve ever had a Dunkin Donut, or coffee, for that matter – we must not have them around here. Cute ornament, though!
Nice workout, but boy did you get another one shoveling that snow! Good thing you saved your cardio, at least!

Here in Canada we run on Timmy’s!

I’ve never been to a Dunkin Donuts before! We don’t have them in the Maritimes. We have a similar chain in Canada called Tim Hortons. The coffee is disgusting, but some of the donuts are okay
That’s what my city looks like today! Thank for sending the snow here Lori, jeeeez!

I’ve been to Tim Hortons before when in Niagara Falls. Some yummy pastries there, but only 1/2 and 1/2 for coffee. What’s up with that??
I’m so excited about the snow. I can’t wait to get up north and play in it. Of course we’ll have to plow and shovel out first but it is worth it.
I used to spend about $10/day on DD coffee. I had an x-large in the a.m., one after lunch, one after work and one after dinner. I think their profits must have nosedived when I started drinking tea at work instead of buying coffee all day long. There is a DD on every corner around here and one right in front of the bus stop I would stand at every morning. I get DD coffee very rarely now on long road trips.
Enjoy the winter wonderland.
Got to love your workout & that you trek thru the snow to do it!!!! BRRRRRRR! I am complaining about our 40 degree nighttime weather here in southern CA!
I grew up back east but my blood has thinned out since I have been here since 1975!!! I will take your first pic although the kitty on the window sill is cute!
OH NO, no bagel!!!! No Dunkins here.. I rather have a bagel than a donut any day!!!

That top picture looks rather nice. It’s -5 degrees here this morning! I could do with warmer weather.:-)
Dunkin? No way. I’m a tea drinker now and my stomach thanks me.
Hey, that’s great to use shoveling as exercise by the way!
.-= Michelle @ Find Your Balance´s last blog ..The great milk debate =-.
Our Dunkin Donuts turned into a pretty lame Donut Connection. They have okay lattes and stuff but they only use whole milk and cream so I don’t drink them. I can’t eat donuts anymore so I really have no reason to go. When I’m traveling I like to get coffee at Dunkin Donuts though.

Why do places do this? I have never drunk cream in my coffee, and I don’t like whole milk (too rich). Are these places not on the same planet?
haha I woke up to the same thing yesterday! It was not fun! Our snow switched over to rain by the end of the day though…unfortunately that just made it slushy.

For some reason, I can’t get into Dunkin Donuts coffee. Wawa is more my style

Holland is not a donut country so I hardly eat them. I do love them but my body loves them too and after one bite I gained
I do prefer the picture of the snow this time of year. We hardly have snow here and when we do it’s usually gone at night. So I keep on dreaming of a white Christmas but it hardly ever happens.

Not donut country?? Is there a pastry that is usually eaten?
I love looking at the snow, but don’t like to shovel it! Here we only get the occasional snow which is good for me. Last year we got one snow – 14″ – that was fun. You should have seen us hacking away at our driveway with a regular garden shovel because we didn’t have a snow shovel!
