Insomnia and camera playing

Let’s see… where was I?  Just busy.  I’m pretty immersed in business stuff right now, which isn’t really of interest.  We’ve been eating easy meals like the tomato soup with added pasta and I also had some frozen turkey burgers. I haven’t had those in so long and decided I don’t really like them that much. It’s way better to get ground turkey and make my own. Sometimes convenience pays off, sometimes it doesn’t.

My insomnia seems to have gotten a little worse lately. Waking earlier. Today I was up at 3:30 and when you don’t go to bed until 11:00, that’s just not enough sleep.  I need lots of coffee.

Maybe I should triple up on melatonin. My PCP had told me to double my dose and that seemed to help for a while. I’m getting in exercise every day as well. Sigh.

I have had my uber camera out working on product photos. I took some editorial shots and was pretty happy with how they came out.  Here is my set up – don’t laugh!

I didn’t use my light box because I wanted a background. The base is also extra cork floor boards from our kitchen remodel 😀

Out of many, many shots, I got one that I liked and it was just the soaps.

Here is the finished picture:

The colors really pop. I was holding a light over my shoulder in one hand and clicking the shutter with the other. I couldn’t find my remote shutter control, of course. It sure would be nice to hire someone for these. And I will never complain about photographer fees – they earn every penny. This stuff is hard to do, especially when you don’t really know what you’re doing!

Here’s hoping for a good night’s sleep tonight. I’m due for a crash and burn 🙂

I was awake at 3:30 am and had to roll out of bed at 5:00 am to run and then dash off to my volunteer job, followed by a trip to the grocery store. Home, finally ate lunch at 2:00, and I was falling asleep at my computer by 3:00 pm, so I napped, hard. I suspect that will not help staying asleep at all tonight – it’s a vicious cycle, insomnia is. Let me know if the triple dose of Melatonin works!

Your soap picture came out really pretty, and of course I am all about the pretty colors. What scent is the blue soap? I’m assuming the purple soap is lavender?

I wish I could take naps. I used to take them, but for some reason now when I try, my eyes pop open. Go figure. Soaps starting from top left: orange clove, pine, rose, lemon rosemary, sea mist, oatmeal, honey and, bay rum and lime.

Are you still taking Wellbutrin? Because that’s a medication that needs to be taken very early in the morning as it can cause terrible insomnia, especially if you are on more than 150. Try taking 250 mg. of magnesium with your melatonin. I started doing that and sleep so much better.

Are you going to bring honeysuckle soap back? I wanted that one and didn’t get it in time!

It’s the bupropion (cheap version). I take the afternoon dose no later than 3:00 to avoid sleep issues. Sometimes I don’t take it in the afternoons as well because I forget.

The honeysuckle is back now. I just don’t have it in that picture, along with the karma bar.

Good luck with the sleep problem. I know how tough that can be. And everything is harder when you haven’t gotten enough sleep.

Also, the product shot is beautiful. I love the tile in the background. It’s just perfect.

I’m sorry you are having issues with insomnia. I have no advice, I suffer from it as well. I will say that since having the baby I’ve learned to take naps when he naps (I was never a nap person before) has been a life saver.

    Great photo of the soaps!

UG! Insomnia is gross!!! I wish I could say “_____ helped me”, but I got nuthin’. I don’t think I’ve slept a night through in MONTHS.
LOVE the soap photo! They look lovely! (and ooooh, I bet they smell wonderful too!)

That soap picture is SO pretty! I don’t have too much trouble with insomnia any more. I do take melatonin periodically. It seems like sleep goes along fine for a while, and then I have the feeling I won’t sleep, so then I’m taking the melatonin for a couple of weeks.
