Kitchen before and after

Happy hump day!  We had a pretty low-key Valentine’s Day. John was away for most of the day, but we met up at about 8 pm for coffee and a sweet 😀

I ended up losing a pound this week, so those pesky couple are almost gone.  Here are more meals I ate:

Lemon Ricotta Pancakes (350 calories):

Tomato Soup with Ravioli (300 calories):

I’ll keep plugging away as usual 😀

Remember the table I was doing over the weekend?

I ended up just putting some polyurethane on it. Satin finish.  it shows imperfections, but I think they add to the piece (or maybe I’m kidding myself LOL ).

I don’t really know why they hid this under that black paint.

On another project note, here are the pictures from the pretty much completed kitchen at my folks’ house.  A very old before picture with an old appliance. We should have thought to take better before shots LOL.

Not a great picture, but just to give you an idea of the cabinets.

Mid rehab:

Done.

Just need a little more caulk around the edges and touch ups here and there.

It’s a nice fresh look. It was actually not too expensive as far as materials go. The biggest cost was the tile since we decided to do the whole back wall instead of just a backsplash. I think it really completes it, though. My parents seem happy with it.

Now just small projects for a while.

On a side note, I am looking for a few product testers. I’ve got some new products in development. Shoot me an email at savonology@gmail.com  if you are interested.   I’ve got enough testers – thank you!

Now it’s time to relax a bit!

Lori, not only do your parents seem happy, we ARE very, very happy! We can’t thank you and John enough!

Awesome kitchen. That makes me want white cabinets. Come to Missouri and I’ll hire you.

What is the product in the middle row? I had a student give me something that looked like that at Christmas and I didn’t know what the heck it was.

Lori, I’m thin king of having my kitchen cabinets painted – they recommend I get rid of the old hollow doors. Should I bother? It’s a $1K difference

Hollow cabinet doors? I don’t know as painting them would be all that different. Did they give you a reason other than upgrading?

my doors are from late 1970’s. they are in great shape. The hollow dooors (rather than solid wood) were used back then supposedly because the hinges available couldn’t handle the wieight of solid doors. I’m getting new hinges so they match the handle hardware I’m replacing. I think they just don’t want to mess with filling holes of old hinges. They also told me solid doors are “new” look. I’m not planning on selling so I’m inclined to go with the old doors.

The new kitchen looks so nice ! Light and bright, just lovely – and that backsplash really makes the kitchen shine!

Love the wood on the sewing table. It really is pretty; nice discovery under that boring black paint.

The kitchen turned out so great – your parents should be thrilled with it! I went to a garage sale once that had the best made furniture, but unfortunately they let their 16 year old daughter at the time paint every piece a different bright neon color – such a shame!

There is a time and place for paint like when the finish is not salvagable, but I hate seeing a perfectly good piece painted.

It looks fantastic and yes, tiling the whole back wall was a great idea as it seems to make the color scheme flow so nicely. Your sewing table looks great too.

Yay for one pound down while still having your treats!

What a pretty kitchen! No wonder your parents are thrilled!

You’ve given me an idea–to look for one of those sewing tables to use for my little Featherweight sewing machine.

You can find those Singer bases fairly easily. Then you could put whatever size top you want on it if it doesn’t come with one,.

Wow, what a huge improvement. Bet they are very happy with the result. Job very well done Lori.
