What a quick weekend. Saturday was trying to relax a little and Sunday was another show. It was very close to home and was decent, so that was good. One more to go.
On Saturday, the tree project was completed. John stapled a light string on the back after I had put some spar varethane on it for outdoor use.
I love how it came out and happy I actually got a project done LOL! It’s about 4 feet tall. Now it’s outside with our other lights and I’m happy 😀
Regarding the title of the post, I put in official resignation notice at my job. My last day will be at the end of the month and I am leaving the MT field all together. It’s no secret the company that I work for is not very organized and has caused me much frustration over the past 6 years. I worked very hard for them and the disappointing thing is, only one person commented on my notice – one of my direct account managers – to ask me to stay on part time. Uhmm…No. The office manager (who I deal with the most) and the owner didn’t respond at all when I turned in my notice. I gave them a month’s notice so they would have plenty of time to get my accounts covered, but after that, it’s not my problem.
What I will be doing is transitioning full time into the supply business John has been running and we’ve had for over 15 years..I had stepped away from it for a while, but it’s time to get back to it. 2017 will be an interesting year. In more ways that one, too.
Someone who doesn’t care about all this? Ms. Pixie. As long as she has a lap, she’s happy.
Although I am leaned over on my hip here and she couldn’t quite get on, so maybe not so happy LOL!
Congratulations on the decision to move away from that stressful job! Best wishes on the next chapter of your life!
Thank you!
Well that sounds like a change that will give you flexible time, as well as getting rid of a lot of stress in your life.
All your decorating is challenging me to get moving and put a few decorations out myself!
It for sure will relieve some stress. Yay!
On to new and better things Lori! What could be better than working with your hubby?!!! I know that job brought you alot of stress and you worked so hard for them…. Its a shame how they treated you when you let them know you were leaving… The big box home improvement store that i gave 15 years of blood, sweat and tears treated me the same way when i left…. really leaves a bad taste in your mouth and if i was to ever work again i’m afraid i would have a totally different frame of mind… The days of me killing myself for a job would be definitely over… Will you continue withyour soap??
Your tree looks fabulous!!! We finished with a few projects too and its a wonderful feeling. Hugs! deb
Yes, I will still be doing soap stuff.
Lori good for you for quitting that job and I have no doubt 2017 will be a very succesful year for the both of you.
Such a difference: really a blamage they didn’t respond to your resignation. I have a co-worker who is leaving the company at the end of this month too and we are throwing her a goodbye party and buy her a gift to thank her for her work for the company. And that’s how it should be done.
Pixie is so adorable!
Are you going to show a photo of the Christmas tree outside? Would love to see how it looks in the dark.
I need to take a photo of the tree outside with the other lights. We are getting snow now, so it should look pretty! LOL
Your Christmas tree came out so cute! Maybe next year you can sell soap and trees at your craft shows?
Very happy for you with the upcoming job change. Hopefully your stress levels will drop dramatically. 🙂
Congrats!! I know it will be a big adjustment but it sounds like you are making the right decision. I hope the transition goes well for you!
Congratulations and best of luck!
Your tree is so cute. I bet you could sell those if you felt like making more than one. And yes, I’d like a lights photo on the blog, please. I’m excited for what the future will bring for you and John!
I thought about making and selling them for about 5 minutes before I came to my senses LOL!
I’m proud and inspired by your decision to quit and move on to something better. For some people, that’s really easy but I’ve always struggled. The past two years have been increasingly bad for me at work and finally, finally I’ve decided I need to make a change too. I’ve given myself a short timeframe to find something else but if I don’t, I’m going to quit.
No job should take away our joy or happiness. We are easily replaceable and that’s so evident when good workers leave an organization.
Can’t wait to hear more about your “new” job in 2017 and beyond!
I struggle to because I tend to be very loyal, which in this case didn’t really do me much good.
WOW Lori!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How exciting for you & so happy for you! Screw those work peeps! They will know what they lost once you’re gone!
I am clueless. I had no idea all that stuff you & John sold! You should have promoted it more on your blog!
Here is to a better 2017!!!!
I don’t talk too much about that stuff here because I kind of try to keep business and personal stuff separate.
SOOOOOO happy for you!!!!!!!!
I remember how my stress level went way down when I quit MT work, which made me a little sad because I really enjoyed it. Good luck on the transition!!
Your tree is very neat! Congrats on getting a project done during December. 🙂
Congrats on shedding the big stressor in your life! I’m sure there will still be some long hours involved in the family business, but at least you’re working for great bosses 🙂
I love the yard tree! You make all those projects look so dang easy, Lori. We’re traveling this Christmas and won’t put up a regular tree, but it would be fun to have a decorative one like that when we celebrate our belated holiday with the grandkids (we always call it fauXmas LOL).
Projects usually aren’t as hard as they seem. This tree was easy – although I don’t really care for using the table saw. That’s not hard, just kind of scary.
I know – table saws and chain saws scare me too!! 10 fingers and 10 toes are pretty ideal 🙂
Congrats on the change. It is tough to quit a job. Even one that has not been ideal. When you work hard & it doesn’t matter can really hurt your feelings. I know it has for me. But with the drop in stress, it will be the best thing you’ve done.
