Not much of a post today. I’m pretty beat. I had a 2-day show this weekend. It was outdoors and the temps hit 90 degrees. I was lucky in that my canopy had shade under a tree for a couple of hours in the morning.
This show is the biggest one of the year. It’s actually 2 shows right next to each other. The Lower Adirondack Arts Council and Zonta (an international service organization). There had to be at least 100 vendors there if not more. I was on the Zonta side, which is nice because there are really wide walkways for people so it doesn’t get clogged up. Setup was done and people started to come in half an hour before the show even started!
That was the nice shade I had until noon. Very thankful for that. The people in the corner on the right there were selling jellyfish in resin, sort of balloon shaped. They were pretty popular, too, which is perplexing to me. LOL
The most popular scent over the weekend:
I also had a new salve. This is made with sweet almond oil, shea butter and beeswax:
It sold pretty well. I was a little worried that it would liquify in the heat, but beeswax has a pretty high melting point.
Even being under a tent, it was still sweltering and hot! I felt bad for those vendors who were in the sun the entire time.
Sales were better Saturday than Sunday and a lot of people came through. I don’t know if I would do this again just because of it being outdoors. At least there was no rain and no wind this weekend. I like the indoor shows much better. The hardest part is working all weekend and back to regular work on Monday.
I used to do that when I worked. And then one day I decided I was tired. And I made enough money at one job. I hope you get some downtime during your weekday job to relax and/or ride your bike!
It is tiring, but hopefully it will change in the future.
Lavender soap sounds wonderful! And yours looks really pretty, too.
I would have a hard time being outside, in that heat – even in the shade – for so long. Glad you had good sales, but yeah, I might look for indoor venues for the future.
Yes, I don’t do heat all that well, even without sun. There aren’t as many indoor events during the summer months, so that’s a decision to make.
Heat here too & I was outside in it yesterday for Dad’s day – very draining! No AC in house so no sleep!
I hope you got at least sleep! Hard to do that & back to work. Glad you sold though! Any bday celebrations?
Yep – even though I am under a tent, 90 degrees is still 90 degrees even if I am not in direct sunlight. Luckily the most I do is two days in a row, but it takes me at least a half day to recover in between the markets – a reminder of getting older!
The oatmeal one is still my favorite 😀
I prefer one day shows because 2 days is tiring and draining, not to mention eating up the whole weekend.
I admire you that you do the show next to your job. I don’t think I could do it, I enjoy my weekends too much. Great that the show was a success and you sold your beautiful soaps.
That’s just how it goes right now. I don’t like giving up weekends, but you have to make sacrifices sometimes. I don’t know as the show was worth giving up my whole weekend, though LOL!
I am NOT a heat person but it sounds like one of those experiences that’s good for getting your name out there. Maybe next year it won’t fall on such a hot weekend.
Have you ever thought about buying those personalized misting fans? They have them on Amazon and don’t seem too pricey. Could be an option when you need a little cooling breeze in your face. 🙂
I’m glad you got some sales since you had to suffer the heat.
Mr. Helen is constantly trying to get me to apply to the local Farmer’s Market to sell some of his favorite specialty things that I make. I don’t mind being outside at all – in fact I love it. But, like you, I so value my weekends that I’ve not been willing to give that time up. Maybe in retirement!
I’m glad you had the sales, I’m sad you had to suffer in the heat. UG!!!
I bet the soaps smelled amazing, and I’m so glad you got lots of traffic walking by.
Take care Lori
