Happy Valentine’s Weekend! Just a note that I decided not to do the Healthy Heart weekend this year. We did it for 5 years and I think that was a good run. For the number of people who read this blog every day, only about 2% actually partipated in it (and those that did are the best 😀  ), so I figured I would retire it unless people really want to have it again. Let me know.
This was me trying to be artsy with John making a heart at breakfast.
It was harder than you would think to take this picture 😀
It was so, so cold here. Bitter, bitter cold. It really was a weekend to stay home for the most part. I actually did some work along with house stuff. Â I also did day 2 of week 1 of Couch to 5K. Â Still with it LOL!Â
Progess on the wallpaper front. The hallway and stairwell are now done and painted. Remember the old?
Freshly painted.
Of course, the light is on since this picture was taken later in the afternoon, so it seems bright, but it really is brighter – and not so stuffy looking. The walls are Golden Mushroom and the trim is bright white. The Golden Mushroom is the same color as our downstairs foyer and above the chair rail in the dining room to have some cohesion in color. Â Now to start hanging stuff on that blank canvas.
We are now on the last room of wallpaper!  The final bedroom, affectionately called the Jungle room. The wallpaper in here is in pretty bad shape, as you can see.
It’s pretty much coming up at all the seams and has some gum stuck to it – which was the case all over the house. 🙄
My favorite part is where they must have had to make a patch and just stuck whatever paper they had up there.
If I remember right, that was one of the wallpapers in the kitchen, although I’m trying really hard to erase the memories of wallpaper…
So close to being done!
We had an early Valentine’s Dinner. We decided to go close to home and went to Sushi Aroy Dee. It’s only 1/4 mile from our house, so we bundled up and walked there. Let me tell you – I don’t know if I would have wanted to go any farther! Cold. Â We both got nice warm curries for dinner. John had a tofu curry and I had massaman with chicken:
The rice was served on the side in a heart shape:
How precious!
Pixie has been recuperating this week from a UTI and she now seems pretty much back to herself. She actually was taking her antibiotics reallly well, thank goodness. She doesn’t seem to mind the taste of the liquid – and it smells like bananas, go figure (Clavamox).Â
This is where she spends about 80% of her time soaking up the radiator warmth. I need her life.
Happy Valentine’s Day! I love the hand heart:)
I’m putting in a request to come back as a house cat in my next life.
I want to be a house cat, too!
Oh my girls would love to have Pixie’s radiator perch! Of course, I hate to say it, but today they were actually outside soaking up the sun’s warmth.
What is that behind your heart picture? It looks like a really neat quilt. But really big.
Good job on the wallpaper. I really like the nice bright stairwell.
That’s the booth at Panera Bread. It’s the fabric back. 😀
Happy Valentine’s Day! I just now realized you didn’t do the Healthy Heart weekend – aw! It’s OK, maybe time for a new tradition. Can’t believe you did it for five years – where does the time go?!
How nice to get out for dinner; that rice heart is cute. Incredible that you walked there in your super cold temps!
Glad to hear that Pixie is doing well. She looks so content in that picture.
Happy Valentine’s Day! SO glad Pixie accepts meds – I have had terrible luck with that with previous cats.
The stairwell looks so happy now!
Facebook kept reminding me that you didn’t do Healthy Heart Weekend as evidently I had shared running photos there as well. I ran in the bitter cold on Saturday so I guess I had my own healthy heart weekend lol. Even this morning it was -2 (real temp). Blah.
GMTA – even though we had our official Valentine’s dinner on Saturday because Mr. Helen works on Sundays, I made us Sindhi Beef Curry yesterday. Something about those spices just warm you from the inside out, don’t they? Kudos to you two for walking that 1/4 mile – brrrr!
So… that jungle wallpaper border…
BUT
You know, the patching job at least was the same color scheme. It could have been a lot worse. 🙂 I love how CLEAN the new paint looks. The old wallpaper just looked dirty and grimy. I remember how our walls looked like when we moved in – and they just had 20 years of dirt over paint! Can’t imagine that wallpaper!
Watching cats and dogs relax all day makes me sometimes wish I could do the same too.
I actually thought about your healthy heart weekend yesterday since it was Valentine’s Day.
Happy to hear Pixie is doing better.
I always long for the life of my cats when I leave for work on cold Winter mornings! Good job on the wallpaper.
Happy Day After Valentine’s Day to you and John. Love the artsy heart!!! And the heart rice!
Seriously, you could write a DIY book. Your transformations are fantastic!!!
So glad to hear Pixie is doing better. Have a great week Lori!
Happy Valentines Day. I know how you feel it was super cold here too. I wanted to stay home and snuggle up in bed. It’s a little better today. Wow what a difference with out that wallpaper.
Awwww, poor Pixie!!! She is so cute!
Everyone is talking about the butter cold! We are here getting hot temps today & warm temps in general for this time of year. You braved it & walked WOW!!
Thinking about Pixie this morning!
Love the new walls! What a change! I stripped walls in my old house where the previous owners had layers of wallpaper and paint so thick I never wanted to see wallpaper again 🙂 Good job on doing the C25K! I’m excited to see your progress 🙂
