We got some long overdue shopping done this weekend. We stopped for lunch on Saturday at Iron Roost. This place is all about the waffle. They use waffles as bread for sweet and savory. I was in the mood for something kind of Mardi Gras and when I saw the bananas foster waffles on the menu, that was my choice! We started with local roasted coffee:
My lunch:
This was delicious! Pretty decadent, too. I really didn’t eat much for the rest of the day. It was suprisingly filling. Or maybe it was in combination with the 2 giant cups of coffee 😀
We hit up the outlet malls after that. I desperately needed some new walking shoes. I am going to show my shame here and you can see the bottom of my shoes. I have needed a new pair for probably a year.
I only use those on the treadmill and have other shoes for walking downtown in, but I needed fresh ones of those as well. Easy Spirit had a BOGO sale, so I got 2 pairs. It’s very, very hard for me to part from my money on new stuff. Old things that need work? Sold! New stuff for myself? I hem and haw. Anyway, I got a pair for walking/jogging and then an every day pair.
I love Easy Spirit. The toebox is nice and wide and the shoe widths come in wide as well, which I need for most shoes.
On to the best part of the weekend!
We hosted the Superbowl party. True fan, right here!
We had a mix of Mardi Gras items and we wore beads, since it was a combo party 😀
Buffalo chicken dip, red beans and rice, fruit, crackers and bread pudding:
Praline cookies:
Definitely not a 1500 calorie day LOL!
The game was great! Nobody thought the Broncos were going to win. Honestly, I wasn’t sure they could do it, but I thought if the defense could get to Cam Newton, it would rattle him and they would have a chance. I did a lot of yelling, I must say. In fact, my throat is a bit scratchy 😀
Now we are champions!!
Now maybe Peyton will ride off into and orange and blue sunset! Storybook ending, just like John Elway.
I didn’t watch the game, but I saw on Facebook that your team won, and the first thing I said was “Lori is going to be so happy!”
Praline cookies, mmmmmm. As you know, I don’t watch football, but I do use super bowl Sunday as an excuse to overeat. It wasn’t a 1500 calorie day for me either. ?
No regrets on eating, but it’s annoying how many days I have to work hard to mitigate the damage of one day.
Lori I sent you an email – we had the Superbowl live on tv here in Australia! I was thinking of you as the Broncos got up. Not that I understand a thing I’m watching! Good to see you had a great night.
My mom doesn’t understand the game, but I think she enjoyed watching us enjoy it 😀
GO SEASON FINALE OF FOOTBALL!!!!
<3 <3
Next year? Black and GOLD!!
I don’t watch football either but we had the game on for
a little while, and this morning when I heard the Broncos
won I was glad that your team won!
I normally eat around 1300-1500 calories a day.Yesterday
not so much went way over had a big splurge at lunch
then I scaled it back the rest of the day but still
calories were high. I would gain weight if I ate
like yesterday very often.
I need new walking shoes too and like you I hate to
spend money on stuff like that for myself.
Yes, it seems like I get punished for high caloried days out of proportion to what I actually eat. I will have to work for days to get rid of the Superbowl food LOL!
Defensive game won by the best defense in the NFL. Well deserved! We are happy for Peyton and hope he takes his ball and goes home. Personally I was very disappointed in Cam Newton’s behavior at the post game conference. Before the game he was saying how much he admired Peyton and hoped to be like him. He should of been thinking that during the news conference! Of course he’s only 26 and has had people telling him he’s the greatest so it must have hurt to be proven wrong.
As a runner, you know I am mortified at the condition of your shoes!!
I specifically thought of you when I posted my shoe picture and knew you would be horrified LOL!
I am also disappointed in Cam’s behavior. He is the leader of the team and they look to him on guidance and he fell short on that. I hope he learns from this because if he gets that going, he certainly can be a great leader for many years. Maybe the Broncos can entice him over if Peyton retires 😉
I didn’t really care who won the game but I was happy for you when the Broncos won, if that makes sense…you are the biggest Bronco fan in Blogland!!!
OMG, your shoes!!! I’d be crippled if I tried to even walk in them. So glad you finally got some new ones!!!
Those waffles look AMAZING!
OMG – the waffle!!!! YUM! Love that you found the shoes too! You know me & my wide feet so….. 🙂
I wanted one of those praline cookies!!!!!
I thought I had shameful shoe soles (say that 3x fast) but you have me beat! Sometimes you need to swap in old for new.
We are excited Denver won and I was thinking of you the entire time. I thought the first half was awesome but the second half was a dud – they tapped into the Mike McCarthy playbook of conservative time-wasting plays. (lol)
Super happy with Peyton and super annoyed with Cam. It makes me like him even less.
How fun your party looks! Glad that Denver won for you! I was pulling for them as well 🙂
Nice shoes and you totally needed new ones. I have no problem spending money on myself LOL. Although it has changed, I don’t buy as many clothes/shoes as I used to do. I rather spend it on cook books or other things.
Congrats on winning the super bowl. I have been following your blog for many years now and know how much you love your Broncos. It was about time they would win once (read it was the 3rd time in history?)
Yes, the Broncos have been to the Superbowl 8 times and have now won 3. I became a Broncos fan when I lived in Colorado and it was when John Elway won the superbowl in the 90s. It’s really hard not to live in Colorado and not be a Broncos fan. It’s almost mandatory LOL! Of course, John was always a fan and we carried our fandom with us here to NY.
I was thinking of you on Superbowl Sunday. I’m glad your team won!
