We had a great weekend around here! John and I hosted the annual Christmas Eve dinner. It was crazy warm, too.
We had Christmas cocktails this year for something fun. I rimmed the glasses with white chocolate and sugar crystals:
.
Since my niece photobombed, I made her take a picture with me:
Yummy dinner!
We opened presents and played games, of course!
It took me a bit, but I figured out what this was.
There was dessert with cookies:
These front ones are german chocolate cake cookies. Recipe here. My suggestion is to halve that recipe. It makes a lot. A lot.
Of course, we had The Cake, which my sister made this year to perfection:
On Christmas Day, we had our own morning gifting, including something for Pixie, which she proceeded to mangle right away:
You do not want to get your hand in there, let me tell you. It was even warm enough to bike again. I can’t believe we biked on Christmas Day!
Then another first. We headed down to my sister’s house in the late afternoon and had a bonfire and leftover fireworks from the 4th of July!
.
Certainly 2105 was a memorable Christmas for how warm it was. Three firsts on Christmas – a bike ride, bonfire and fireworks. Plus some toasted marshmallows! That weather will be changing this week, but it was fun while it lasted.
What a fun family Christmas you guys had! I love that you enjoy playing games so much – lots of laughter with that, I’m sure. 🙂
Your bike ride/bonfire/fireworks sounds normal for a Christmas in California…but upstate New York?? Now that is wild!
I love games – we laugh so hard.
The weather was strange and now all that is over now. Winter has arrived. Boo.
Fun, fun, fun! I had windows open in my house starting Christmas Eve that I didn’t close until yesterday afternoon. I’ll take it over the sleet that’s headed our way now!
Are you getting a lot? We are forecasted 5-8 inches and then sleet later tomorrow. Yuck.
The picture of Pixie is too cute for words. Now that is someone who really appreciates their Christmas present!
Yes, bonfires and fireworks and bike riding on Christmas–that is something new!
She actually was ripping on her stocking with the present in there! It was really funny.
Pixie looks adorable, as usual.
I can’t help it, I really missed snow for Christmas, but at least you took good advantage of it!
I made a note of those cookies for next year’s cookie party, they look scrumptious.
Those cookies are really, really good. I think I am cookied out, though.
Glad you had a great time and were able to get a bike ride in. They were predicting a winter storm today with snow, but it’s all sleet and ice which will turn to rain later this afternoon. The cold temps will finally rear their ugly head by the new year – like you said, it was fun while it lasted!
Haha! Pixie is so adorable. Love that she got a gift, too. I don’t give my cats gifts anymore because what they REALLY want is the wrapping paper and empty boxes. So they get that. LOL
Pixie loves, loves catnip. John picked her up this little toy when he was out and boy does she love it! We usually don’t get her anything because she will destroy it or lose it LOL.
I just love your Santa hat on your helmet!! So fun!! The German Chocolate Cookies look and sound so good! Thanks for sharing!
What a wonderful Christmas Lori AND biking! Here it was cold for us & still is cold for us!
Love the Pixie pic!!!!!!
COOKIES – nothing to add there! 🙂
What a wonderful time! Are you sad it wasn’t colder for Christmas, or was it a nice break?
What a lovely Christmas you had! And biking on Christmas day: cool!
It has been warm here too, I even had the door open yesterday afternoon, it was that warm.
Belated Merry Christmas Lori!!!!! Love the pictures, your family looks so fun! And Pixie? LOL, so cute! So glad you had a Christmas ride!!!
