Not a real long post for the weekend. I am feeling a lot better. Not 100%, but I was still able to do the open house weekend with my soaps and not keel over, which was good. My nose was so, so sore because we don’t have tissues (never getting sick). I was using napkins and TP as a tissue. ‘Cause I’m klassy like that. Well, last night we stopped and picked up some real deal stuff:
These are great! They felt so good on my sore nose, too. FYI for those that have the sniffies now.
Anyway, Thanksgiving weekend I did the 3-day show and was on the 2nd floor of the shirt factory. This weekend was just Saturday and Sunday and I moved down to the 1st floor. That really made a difference, I have to say. It’s worth paying a little more to be on the first floor for sure. I had a very good spot. We were in a wide corner area, so instead of being in a hallway, the organizers set two of us up with our tables in a V.
I got along great with the fellow artist that I was right next to. Good thing because that would have sucked if it was an unfriendly person. We are going to try to plan to be together again next year because we got along really well in close quarters. She made fabric items, including some tree ornaments:
I bought a couple of these from her, too. 😀
I was really pleased with this weekend and did more in these 2 days than the previous 3 put together. The best part was at 4:58 on Sunday (the show closed at 5), a woman came up and got excited to see soap and proceeded to purchase $60 worth in about 3 minutes. This is why you never want to break down early. Lesson learned to be on the 1st floor from now on.
Best sellers this weekend? Pine far and away was the best seller. Then Lemongrass. I also had done a lavender whipped shea butter which I just about sold out of, and I wasn’t expecting that. I need to make more now.
On a side note, John is just the best hubby ever. He brought me a latte both days so I didn’t miss my usual latte time. I sure lucked out on the husband front.
Now, finally, I can take a breather and rest some. I might actually take a day off of work this week, too, if it’s slow.
We got the tree decorated as well – that’s been up for almost 2 weeks LOL!
That’s a phone shot. I haven’t taken good pics of the tree with the rebel yet.
One last festive shot. Our downtown with the holiday lights up:
Time to put my feet up!
Oh i’m sooo glad you had an awesome weekend and you feel a little better. The tissues we love … I can’t remember the brand but they put Vicks in them and they smell soooo good and help you breathe… Puff’s maybe… I will definitely keep your sale tips in mind! Hugs! deb
Getting real tissues was a treat LOL! Now we will have the box forever unless a guest needs them (I hope)
Glad you are feeling better!
Your tree looks gorgeous! 🙂
Oh my. Your tree looks beautiful, and the downtown shot is just wonderful. It looks like a really great older downtown. I love seeing those. But it looks like it has a really wide street, which you don’t always see. And that is very nice to have.
Glad you are feeling better, and your tissue issue made me laugh, because I am EXACTLY the same. My nose is very sore before I break down and buy tissues.
And great news on the good show, especially finding a good booth neighbor. That can make all the difference, and also nice that you don’t have competing products, and that both of your products seem to be very classy (from what I can see of hers.)
Yes, please take a day off this week. Even if you just stay home on the sofa with an afternoon latte delivered to you 🙂
It’s a great downtown. It just needs a little more retail to get it really going. We have plenty of restaurants. It was named Hometown USA in the 1940s. The main street is nice and wide with parking on each side and a pseudo lane in the middle (where delivery trucks usually park)
Next time you write that you are sick – I will send tissues 😀
Your downtown is so lovely.
It’s out of a movie.
<3
It is charming.
So happy to hear the second show was a success. I think your soap business will be a success.
Glad to hear you are feeling better. It sucks to be sick in the busy December month.
I am thinking about a DSLR but it depends if I get a Christmas bonus this year. The bonus is not something we get every year so will have to wait till Christmas lunch next Friday when we hear it. I’m afraid we won’t get any though.
Fran – I think you will love a DSLR. I wish I hadn’t waited so long to get mine (but, well, funds and stuff). I love it,even though I don’t always have it with me.
It will elevate your already good photography skills.

My phone makes pretty good photo’s too but not when you zoom in or when it’s dark. And I also think that a DSLR will make better photos of my hikes.
Am I allowed to say “I told you so” about that shea butter? Doesn’t surprise me a bit that you sold out.
Also, if you ever can’t find that tissue, Puffs also makes a very good one – Puffs Plus with Lotion. But don’t wipe your glasses with them LOL!
You can say I told you so and you’d be right LOL!
See, I would be the one to wipe my glasses with it. These tissues with the coconut oil really do feel cool – it’s interesting.
I love pictures of towns all decorated up and down streets. Reminds me of that small-town feel that I remember growing up. I never seem to have tissues when I need them so I bought a box of the lotion ones and tucked them back in the cupboard for emergency. In a pinch I’ll dampen a paper towel because that’s a bit kinder on my nose. Feel better soon!!
Great that the first floor was so productive and that your neighbor was a gem. 🙂
Congratulations on such a great soapy selling weekend! Sounds like you’ve got the placement figured out, and how nice that you had a good vendor next to you.
Love that downtown shot – what a sweet place to call home.
Hope you feel better soon, and I’m with Helen – take a day off and just rest/relax/enjoy some downtime.
I was wrapping up my out of town gifts yesterday Lori and Hannah didn’t know I had bought the soap and she asked “what smells so good on this table?!” Your soap!
The lemongrass is my favorite – after the holidays if you still have some, I’ll likely buy more to keep for myself!
I’ve had a stuffy nose all week too – nothing too bad, but I don’t mess around with cheap Kleenex anymore 😀
Woo Hoo!!!! Congratulations on the successful sale Lori! Love seeing the pics of your town, and your tree, and sooooo glad you are feeling better. You’ll be back to 100% soon!! Have a nice, hopefully restful day!
So excited for you Lori!!!!! Yahoo! And glad you are feeling better!
I love that pic of your downtown!!!! Beautiful!
