It was an outdoor weekend for us! Good weather and lots of projects accomplished.
Saturday looked iffy for riding as far as rain goes, so we decided to keep it close to home. We ended up splitting up for the first part of the ride because I wanted to check out some garage sales 😀
It looks so green around here now. I love the older tree-lined streets.
I headed out to the heritage path we don’t go on much. I forgot how nice this is.
This goes by one of the logging companies still in operation:
This is close to the one of the little parks with a beach in the area:
.
It ends in a nice little picnic area overlooking the dam. We need to pack a lunch or dinner and bike out here sometime just for a nice little meal.
.
I rested a few an then texted John and we each headed out to meet points west from here.
The honeysuckle is now blooming:
This is really a nice trail. It’s just not very long.
It was a shorter ride Saturday and it turns out the weather didn’t turn bad at all. Go figure 😀 We ended up doing our 35 miler on Sunday, which was good because it left room for a pizza and cake party to celebrate my dad’s birthday!
I need another day for the weekend. It just went too fast.
Glad you had such nice weather for biking! I like the picture of the tree-lined streets – what a pretty place to live!
It is very pretty – especially now that it is green!
Lovely trees!! I think there is honeysuckle somewhere in the neighborhood where my race was. I would smell it periodically and to heavenly!!
It’s a heady scent that wafts around. I love it.
Love the tree lined streets too. Don’t you just love the smell of honeysuckle?
That cobbler cake looks scrumptious!
Thanks for taking us along on your ride!
I do love the smell. Honeysuckle lines a lot of the paths and riding down them when it is in bloom is wonderful.
So pretty!
we had a raining rainy rainrain weekend BUT given how hot and scorching texas can be we enjoyed it outdoors anyway!
We actually could use some rain around here!
I always need another day for the weekend as well. I can’t believe how much your area has bloomed – I feel like you are a bit ahead of us even. I haven’t seen or smelled any honeysuckle yet… maybe this week?
I think these abnormally warm temperatures have pushed stuff really fast. It looks like early June here. It is welcome, though 😀
Happy bday to your dad!!!
The beauty is amazing!
I wouldn’t trust myself biking to garage sales, I’d want to buy so much stuff and have no where to put it! Yep, our weather looked iffy most of the weekend but it turned out just fine!
Not just an outdoor weekend, but looks pretty outstanding to me. You seem to have so many great places to ride. Maybe if I ever manage to up my distance, I’ll find as many here. That and if I become willing to ride on roads.
The tree-lined street reminds me of where I grew up, until Dutch Elm disease came through and took out all the trees. I was pretty young then and can’t remember if new trees were planted, I should go back and see. It could be beautiful again.
What a lovely ride and the weather seemed really nice.
Happy belated birthday to your Dad.
Yes it’s a golden chain tree in my garden. The first few years it didn’t really bloom but since a couple of years it’s beautiful during Spring. The only downside is that when the flowers starts to fall off it can get really messy in the garden with all the yellow stuff. A reason why R. wanted it removed but I said no, it’s too beautiful when it’s blooming.
Happy Belated Birthday to your Dad!!! I just love the photos you take on your rides!!!!
