Supporting my team! I do the dots with the head of a pin dipped in nail polish.
Too bad it didn’t work. Broncos – the only home team to lose this weekend. In a way it’s better than facing the Patriots in Foxborough next week. I just hope the Packers beat the Seahawks. Good thing we aren’t hosting the Super Bowl this year 😀
On the home improvement front: The foyer is finished.
Back in the day (that is our realtor in the shot):
Today:
Last week the wallpaper was finished and this week I got the wall and most of the trim painted. Some around the window will have to wait until warmer weather when I can open the windows, as well as painting the radiators, which can’t really happen while they are in use 😀
The color is Golden Mushroom by Olympic. It is the same color as the upper part of the wall in the dining room so that it gives some cohesion when you look from the living room into the rest of the house:
Now we move to the upstairs! I think the next room is the middle guest bedroom. We will be having an overnight guest in the spring, so that room needs to get finished and decorated for that.
I also did some work on a dresser I bought a couple weeks ago for $50.
I used Restore-A-Finish on it and it looks better, although still a little sun faded.
I forgot to put that drawer back in before taking the picture LOL. The Restore-A Finish took all the scratches out really well. Or covered them up, I shoud say. No so good on the fading, but for now it will do without stripping the whole piece. This is a waterfall style dresser probably from around 1930s or so. John is actually going to appropriate this for himself LOL! I got the bigger of the 2 closets in the master bedroom, so I will give him this dresser. Now I need to find another one.
Getting ready for the spiralizer to arrive tomorrow. I tried doing a zucchini with a veggie peeler and used it as noodles:
It was pretty good. Way better than using spaghetti squash, IMHO. I just dipped the strips in boiling water for about a minute to get hot and that was it.
I guess getting the spiralizer will be the excitement for the week now that my football season is over. 😀
Sorry about your Broncos. I’m pulling for GB. Foyer looks awesome. Lighter and brighter.
Anyone but Seattle and now I don’t want the Patriots in the Super Bowl either. Tired of Tom Brady.
Sorry your team lost!!
Your foyer looks great – you are a working machine!!!
Thanks!
I think I told you I had a dresser like that for years–so similar, even with the handles and the foot trim. I got it at a yard sale for a bargain and I really enjoyed it.
That long shot showing the dining room and foyer really looks nice. That is a huge house that you have to re-do!
I really like the zucchini with spag sauce on it. I actually like my four-veggie mix the best of all. Can hardly wait to see what you think of the spiralizer.
It is a huge house. It really is too big for the 2 of us, but it is good for having the business downstairs.
If I were flipping this house, I would have had a crew come in and do a lot of work since there is so much and time is of the essence when flipping, but since we will be here for the next 40 years (hopefully), we don’t have to be quite so frenetic, although I would just like to finally erase all traces of the former owner.
Aw, too bad about your Broncos. 🙁
What is the square footage of your house? Debby is right, it looks really huge! Nice going getting all the wallpaper off in the downstairs.
The 1st and 2nd floors are a little over 1800 square feet. Then the finished basement is probably another 1000? The basement is the biggest area because there is a bedroom below what is the garage on the first floor. It’s just big.
You amaze me with your ability to renovate and decorate. Your house is really taking shape. Keep the photos coming as you make progress…please!!
Never fear, you will all get tired out the house photos 😀
I shall get out my SPIRALIZER too 🙂
I found it last night in a box marked OFFICE STUFF (!)
I am not a fan of spaghetti squash. People are always astonished by that, I guess because I am such a veggie lover. Give me zoodles any day! I sometimes actually mix my zoodles with a bit of real pasta. Stretches it and gives me a veggie all in one.
I can’t believe the Broncos got beat at Mile High. That really doesn’t happen too often.
Congratulations on finishing the downstairs wallpaper. That must feel so good when you come through the door.
The Broncos looked terrible. I guess better to lose at home than prolong it one more week at the Patriots because they just weren’t ready to go further.
Have you ever used chalk paint? I have never used it but have seen a lot of furniture redone with it and I love it!
Yes, I have used chalk paint to redo a dresser, bookcase and a table. I do like it a lot. Not for walls, but definitely for other things.
Boy – now that the old wallpaper is gone the house looks 30 years newer doesn’t it? What a difference that makes!
We were sad the Broncos were eliminated. I am not feeling great about the Seahawk / Packer matchup next week though. 🙁
It’s funny how the wallpaper was done in the 90s, yet it made the house seem much older.
The foyer looks great, it is getting your house more and more and I love it.
Thanks! It feels more like home, too.
Lori, Radiance Manor is looking beautiful!!!! Hmmmmmmmm, a house guest you say??? 😉
Yep, an out of state friend is planning a spring trip out here.
You know Lori, you have a LOT of out of state friends. LOL
I suppose you are right LOL!
I haven’t watched or even known who’s playing football anymore since Tony died – I did hear that they fired the offensive coach for the Bears and I know that would have made him happy – he’d been wishing for that for the last two years!
The foyer looks amazing!
Um…no other Seattle readers out there? Go Hawks? Shhh…
