Still plugging away on the Female Body Breakthrough on schedule. I spent most of the time in the open gym today except for a couple exercises.
I really like this room a lot and love that it is open when the crossfit classes aren’t going on. It’s my ‘get rid of stress’ room. Nothing like getting a good sweat on to clear the head. Here was today’s workout:
Exercise | Set/rep/weight Week 1 |
Prone Cobra | 3 sets of 70 second holds |
Front Squat | 3 sets of 6 with 30# bar |
Chinups | 3 sets of 6 with assistance |
Stiff-legged deadlift | 3 sets of 15 with 55# bar |
Dumbbell Push Press | 3 sets of 15 with 15# DBs |
Barbell Split Squat | 3 sets of 12 with 45# bar |
Split Stance Single-arm cable row | 3 sets of 15 each arm at 30# |
Then I did this finisher:
- 20 bodyweight squats
- 20 alternating lunges
- 20 bodyweight squats
- 20 alternating lunges
Tired. LOL. I am a little over halfway done with this stage. I probably won’t increase weights too much for the remainder as it is tough right now.
You know I did my great grandmother’s table on Saturday. I also painted a bookcase using leftover paint we already have. I love those free makeovers!! This is one of those cheapie laminate bookcases, which I think probably everyone has owned at some point – or is it just us??
It’s ugly and we thought about getting rid of it when we move, but we might need it, so I decided to make it look a little better.
It’s sitting on blocks because I painted it right there LOL! I took the shelves out, but didn’t want to drag the whole bookcase out to the garage, so I lifted it up to paint at the bottom. This is coated with poly so hopefully the paint will hold up. If not, it was worth a try!
Next up is my dresser, which I will be transferring a design on as well on a larger scale now that I have practice. 😀
Today’s Photo of the Day prompt is “I spy”.
I spy a bud about to open. Yay! These are my centaurea. Not sure if this will be open by Friday, but I can hope!
We got a new bookcase from IKEA. It’s all built and has been sitting empty in the middle of our living room. LOL At some point we’ll get around to actually putting it in place and putting books on there…….the cats are enjoying using it as a toy. 🙂
This bookcase is kind of a catch all for us since it is near the door. LOL!
Love the bookcase redo. I’ve been tempted to paint the back of my built-ins in the den, but then again, I’ve also been tempted to take a sledgehammer to it and open it up to the living room. 🙂
Haha – paint first! You can’t undo demo 😀
Ha! I have that same ugly bookcase. Glad to see it can be freshened up nicely! Mine’s just hiding away the guestroom.
Nice workout! No wonder you’re a little tired 🙂
I didn’t know you could paint laminate – the bookcase looks 100% better in color!
If you use a primer or chalk paint, you can paint over laminate. You just can’t sand the laminate like you would with another surface.
Well shoot. I had many bookcases like yours that would have looked so much nicer painted. Tucking this info away for future use. 🙂
I love what you did with the bookcase! Pretty soon I’m going to get up my nerve to paint some of my furniture . Like the idea of a layer of poly to protect it.
Do it Debby! You were the one that gave me the furniture painting bug 😀
Big improvement on the bookcase! Definitely ready for a second life.
Love the gym room too, nice wide and open.
I think it is on its 4th life now 😀 I think I have had this bookcase for 20 years??
I love your sense of adventure with things. I would never even think to paint a laminate book case!
Prime and paint. Paint is pretty amazing stuff that the shape is the same, but it looks fresher.
I had the weirdest dream last night. The rabbits were eating all of my tulips – so I packed them up and drove to Radiance Manor and put them in your back yard flower bed as a welcoming present. Sometimes I dream the most random things! 🙂
Yay – rabbit nibbled tulips LOL!
YES to the weights & getting rid of stress! 🙂
AND YES, we have a bookcase just like that! 🙂
Wow – that bookshelf went from a basic thing to something very cool looking – great idea!!!
And, you are really getting in some heavy weights now – I bet that all those squat and lunges during the finisher are going to start making your legs feel much stronger during your bike rides!
Each time you post about your weight lifting my body hurts, Lol.
I LOVE the book case redo!!!!
Would never paint something in place as you did, I’d have paint on several non-bookcase things. Experience counts, or something like that.
I used to love being at the gym when there were only a few of us.
Looks like you had a good workout. No wonder you were tired.
