Without any big projects on tap right now, it was a weekend to do whatever we felt like whenever we felt like it!
I started off with a good workout at the gym:
Exercise | Set/rep/weight |
Plank | 3 sets of holds for 60 seconds each
|
Prone Cobra | 3 sets of holds for 60 seconds each |
Lateral raise with external rotation | 3 sets of 10 with 8# DBs |
Overhead Squat | 3 sets of 10 with 20# bar |
Single Leg/Single arm Romanian deadlift | 3 sets of 10 with 25# DB (increased) |
Single arm cable lat pulldown | 3 sets of 10 at 30# |
Bulgarian Split Squat (video) | 3 sets of 10 with 10# DBs (increased) |
High Cable Row | 3 sets of 10 at 60# (increased)
|
I have another week of these workouts before changing to the next group of exercises. I am definitely feeling stronger now, which rocks.
Of course, I have to put a breakfast shot in here and show off the counters! 😀
My orchid bloom stalk is still growing, too, BTW. I almost can’t stand the waiting. I don’t even know what color flowers this orchid has!
I am also having trouble standing the waiting to close on our house. Most times I am okay with it, but the last few days have been hard. It’s more the not knowing that is driving me nuts. Well, that and feeling unsettled. Can’t do much about it, though. Sigh…
So, we decided to go window shopping and get decor ideas. I have been taking pictures of things to get inspiration. We traveled to Home Goods. I used to like Home Goods, but it seems their prices got really high for things. Or maybe I just got cheaper, I don’t know.
A couple things I liked:
I like the chair, but not the color. Needs to be brighter:
We could also have our own Maltese Falcon (or parrot)
All that browsing and we were ready to have a snack. We headed to Schuylerville and Espresso Huis, which is usually a biking destination for us.
Latte and salted caramel cupcake. Oh yes, indeed!
I did use the hammered copper paint this weekend. I have been wanting to paint something with it and I decided on our old trivet. We have had this thing I think since we first got married? Anyway, it was looking worse for wear with a worn finish. We keep it on the counter to hold things like salt, pepper, cooking spray, etc.
A couple coats of hammered copper:
Much better. Although, because nothing can be done without ‘help’, Ms. Pixie decided to jump up on the work table and stomp her foot right in the wet paint after the first coat. Ugh! Because it is an epoxy paint, it would not wash off and I had to cut the hair on her feet to get rid of the paint. This is why we can’t have nice things.
This is Pixie playing with one of her favorite toys – a Q-tip. The world is her toy…
That trivet came out awesome!!
I hope you get word soon on a closing date!!!
Wow, that copper paint is really cool! Now I think I might be able to get behind painting something that size : ))
The cupcake looks absolutely divine!!!!!!
My cat Henry loves to play with Qtips, too! Trivet came out great; too bad about your helper’s paw, though.
My cats would probably like the Q tips also. What they like the most is playing with the green sticks you get from Starbucks. We have them all over the house. The other day I weighed on my home scale and it was off by a bunch. I picked up the scale and a cat had knocked one of the green sticks under the scale!
which has me wondering did you LOVE the lack of projects or feel…unteathered??
The trivet was a great use of that paint. I really hope you get some news on your house closing soon!
PIXIE you troublemaker!!! 🙂
I love the new look of the trivet, it turned out well despite the furry incident. I can imagine you’re itching to know what’s going on with the house and you’d think the bank would be itching to get rid of it. Soon, hopefully soon. In the meantime, nicer weather is on the horizon so you’ll be distracted with biking before too long. That will help I think.
Yahoo for a good weight workout & feeling strong! I love the things you picked out while “window shopping” for the new place!
OH Pixie!!! Crazy Pixie!!!!!
I love how the copper looks on the trivet! Never would have thought of that. I know it’s hard to wait for the house, but I hope you don’t have to wait too much longer – so many new projects to look forward to!
I’ve noticed the same thing about Home Goods, but I thought it was a Memphis thing. When I shopped there on road trips, I found a few great deals, but when we got HG stores locally, the prices seemed a lot higher.
I recently found a dangerous Facebook group for my area. It’s a perpetual online garage sale. Your area probably has one too, if you haven’t already found it. Lots of projects just a mouse click or two away. 🙂
I just started doing the second phase of FBB. I’m very happy with the change, I was getting bored already. I checked the Bulgarian split squat – gah, I can’t use extra weight if I’m going to do it in good form..
Pixie looks just lovely with her Q-tip. 🙂
Pixie is just adorable! Cats always get into everything 🙂 Hope the house closes soon for you.
I would be very impatient if it took so long to get that house. I totally get you.
I love it how pets can play with the simple things. Bella’s biggest joy is just a ball. Reminds me of when we were kids and could play with almost everything too. Oh how simple life was back then.
I have to comment on the trivet transformatioin…I love cala lillies. We started by planting 12 bulbs along our driveway 6 yrs ago. We now have brown bag after brown bag of bulbs for this coming spring. I can’t even begin to imagine how many. I am torn with the paint job you did on this trivet, being a fan of the worn look. But the copper makes it look like a whole different piece. It is beautiful regardless of which way.
