Again, a wonderful weather weekend! It’s weekends like this in the fall that make the Northeast so awesome 😀 We headed our for a nice ride to Schuylerville. We only stopped once in the 19 miles it took to get there.
My bud:
That’s Vermont way off in the distance.
We stopped at Espressohuis, which we have come to really like as a coffee shop.
There is a visitor’s park right by here with a ceremonial tree.
Up close:
Again, so much of early American history happened right around here.
We booked on home without stopping, so no more pictures of our ride!
Ride stats:
Total miles: 33.2
Average speed: 14.0
Top speed: 29.7 mph
Calories burned: 1060
After Sunday’s ride, my total mileage sits at 2278.5 – I think I am going to make it!!
So… when we got home from the ride on Saturday, John pointed out something under the burning bush.
Oreo and Cheddar! I hadn’t seen them in several weeks and I was hoping against hope that someone took them in. I have been keeping an eye out at the neighbor’s property for them and hadn’t seen them. Turns out I should have been looking a little closer under our porch. Sigh…double sigh…
Time to suck it up and help them before they make more kittens. Anyone who wants a kitten or who knows someone who wants a kitten, please let me know. It begins…
Saturday night was S’mores time! My parents have a nice big back yard with a fire pit.
Lizzy was happy to have lots of company:
John and I brought beverages.
This was pretty good. Not super spicy and a fairly wheaty beer.
Roasting time!
My sister and John:
My s’mores!
It’s funny, I really like s’mores, but I only want one because they are so rich. I will eat more toasted marshmallows, but only one s’mores.
Today’s pink picture – this is a knitted shawl/blanket that my mother won in raffle:
Too bad we’re not closer; I know someone who would like a kitty or two. Poor little things; I know it’s a pain for you, but I’m very glad that you will be taking care of them.
P.S. I loved s’mores as a kid but now, I’m like you – can only handle one due to the richness. Growing up is AWFUL!!! 😉
Well, I am not sure I will be able to take care of them. They are so skittish with people. They ate some wet food I put out. We will just see if they keep coming around or not.
Cheddar!! I sure wish I lived closer. I’m sure he’d fit in around here.
Loved the scenery of Vermont. I was there about 6 or 7 years ago!!
You are so close on your mileage goal! How exciting! How are we going to celebrate???
LOL, I’m right with you and Shelley on the s’mores being too rich! Not that I’ve had one recently. But just the thought. I guess its the milk chocolate, don’t you think? Well, in combo with the pure sugar of the marshmallow. Mmmm. Marshmallow reminds me of Peeps! THEY’re not too rich!
I don’t know how to celebrate 2500 miles. Another ride perhaps ?? 😀
You are so close to your biking goal!!!
Love the fire-pit at your parents – it is awesome. I’m with you – I can only handle one smore.
That first picture looks like a postcard!!
Just caught up on my reading. The kitties are so cute.
I had to laugh when Facebook came out with some Halloween stickers and one of them is wearing a candy corn disguise…all I could think of was you. You are famous for candy corn in my world.
Loving the last of the blooms and all the fall pics.
I haven’t had a real s’more in ages. I might have to organize a s’more party for my neighborhood. 🙂
I’m sure you’ll reach your biking goal, but even if you don’t, you’ve put in a commendable number of miles this year!
What a great Sunday!
You are so sweet to take care of the kittens. I knew you would eventually. You have a big heart and wouldn’t leave them by themselves. Hope you find a home for them soon.
You had great weather yesterday. We had 24 hours of non stop rain, and not the drizzling kind but really hard rain. There was more rain in 24 hours than normally in a month.
I can’t think of a more perfect day: a bike ride, pumpkin beer, and a fire. As always, thank you for letting me live vicariously through you and your life (and food) in photos!. Like Shelley, I wish I lived closer, too, because I know the Irishman would take one (or more) of those kitties.
forget the smores I have always LONGED FOR A FIRE PIT.
I wonder if we could do one here in OAKLAND?!
If you can believe it i have never had a smore! And i would
love to have a fire pit…..both those things on my ‘to do ‘ list!!!
OOoooOOOooo you are so close to your mileage goal! You’ll make it!
Hugs! deb
The fall colors are beautiful! We had a lot of wind over the past few days which knocked quite a few leaves down so we’re interested to see how that affects the rest of the leaf season.
I can’t even remember the last time I had a s’more!
Maybe you need two coffees and two cupcakes for celebrating 2500 miles. Can’t believe you put that many miles on, you rockstar!
Poor kitties. Isn’t there any animal shelter you can call to come and pick them up? 🙁
I am late – sorry! Such beautiful pics! I love your rides! The colors are amazing!
OMG on those smores & that cool fire pit – fun!!!!
Lori the cat whiaperer! 🙂
Beautiful pictures Lori! I love going along on your rides with you through your photos.
AWWWW….kittens!!!! They are lucky you are taking care of them. (and they’re cuties!!!) You are indeed the kitten whisperer!
Have a great Tuesday.
I swear you are a cat whisperer! And I am with you on S’mores – one is plenty!
I am so glad you are taking care of the strays before they have a bunch of kittens. When I used to live at my last apartment my neighbor and I would catch the strays and get them fixed. Because otherwise we’d have thousands of kittens!
I really want to go to Vermont some day – in the fall of course! I haven’t had a smores in years – so yummy.
The cats seem to just find your house!
