Of bagels and computers!

It’s Bagel Wednesday!  We decided to go for a longer ride today for breakfast and went to Panera Bread.  It was in the 70s when we left the house and while it was humid, the ride was pretty pleasant.

Panera Bread had their AC set on stun, though.  It was cold in there!  My bagel and coffee:

Normally Wed rides are 12-13 miles. We ended up with 17 miles on the day.  It was much hotter on the way home.  I popped out in more freckles. At 9 in the morning and the sun gives me freckles!

Finally getting almost caught up at work – for today anyway LOL!  I also just bought a new computer.  My old computer has a lot of issues.  The port for the cord charger is loose, so the computer would be alternating between battery and A/C mode with a little flashing message (very annoying when trying to type).  Then the touch pad  gave out.  I hate using a regular mouse because the second my hand leaves the keyboard I stop making money.  So, I have been griping about my productivity for the last week.  Then the keyboard itself would stop working and I would have to reboot to get it working again.  All this was equaling a very cranky Lori.  Add heat and humidity to that and you can probably imagine what poor John has been having to deal with

Anyway, my new computer arrived today.  I just got a chance to use it after work and get it set up.

It’s a 13.5 inch computer, so a bit bigger than my ebook, but pretty manageable.  It will take a bit to get used to the keyboard spacing.  Not sure if sure Pixie will fit on my lap, though.

Tomorrow will be an interesting day.  I have to have work  tech support set up my computer so I can log in to the system and run the software.  It could be a nightmare as they are using antiquated software and this computer has to be retrofit to run virtual windows XP.  I am really hoping it goes smoothly, but I have my doubts.  Wish me luck!

On a fun note – a new flower is blooming in my garden and I couldn’t wait until Friday!

lily

(I changed my camera settings to see if I can get some better pictures, so let me know if it loads whonky.)

This is an heirloom lily – isn’t it precious??

Lori, THAT is a glorious picture! The lily in the foreground, with the colors of the cone flowers behind–it makes me want to create a rug or a quilt out of it!! What is your white and green coneflower called again?

And the pic of your camera with the reflection of you in it–it made me laugh because it looked like a picture I would take. Must be something about the angle of short people.

Have to say, that bagel looks so tasty I almost want one! What is with these restaurants keeping it so cold? I do not like to eat in cold restaurants. I almost always bring a sweater with me, because otherwise I get very crabby : )

That is the milkshake coneflower. The cone part is a little greenish yellow until it fully ruffles out.

I am going to make an enlargement of this photo, I think. I was so focused on the lily that I didn’t notice the nice background LOL!

Beautiful photo of the flower! Summer is definitely here in MN also, and we’re in the middle of a heat wave too! I commend you for continuing to bike. Best of luck with the new computer.

That is a beautiful flower……reminds me of a giraffe?? Maybe the color:)And I agree! That is such a COOL picture you took of your computer. You close to centered yourself on the screen.

    The lily is beautiful!

Computers can be a pain in the you know what.
As soon as the guide says: plug and play, we say plug and pray because (in our case) most things never work at once.

    Good luck!

Even after a year, it is still so neat for me to recognize the places you bike to as places I’ve actually been. I think we ate at that Panera twice when we were staying in Bolton Landing.

I’m meeting friends at Panera this morning. I’ve skipped the bagels and bakery the past few months, but I’m thinking today might be a good day to break the fast. 🙂

Hooray for a new computer – just glad that it doesn’t have Windows 8 which sucks ass. I love that last picture, whatever setting you had it on was perfect!

Haha- it actually is Windows 8, but I have to run XP through it virtually to use the company software.

    The lily picture looks fabulous!

Hurray for new technology! I remember when my computer at work died… it was NOT fun getting a new one and having to re-tweak all the settings and load the programs. The touch pad never worked but I’m a mouse person so I’m leaving it be.

That lily really is beautiful. So hopeful that tech support gets your new computer up and running in no time! And also hoping Pixie still fits in your lap. Have a great Thursday Lori!

That is a gorgeous picture! And the flower one isn’t bad, either. 😉

Congrats on the new computer – hope today is going well with tech support loading it.

That lily reminds me of a tigerlily. They grew in all the roadside ditches when i lived in rural NJ. Haven’t seen one in a long , long time. Hugs! deb

I agree with everyone else…the lily photo is wonderful! Good luck with your computer set up. Glad you got a new one. Hope it works well for you.

Oh my that lily is so pretty! You have such a green thumb.:) I always have to have help with a new computer – I am so not computer savvy! I hope your set up goes smoothly. I would love to have a new computer and for my next one I want a smaller one that is easier to take traveling and move from room to room.

I loved my netbook for traveling! This new one is pretty small as well – 13.5 inches so easily transported.

I’m curious is your new computer has Windows 8. I just got a new desktop computer and have been fighting with Windows 8 for a full week. It is needlessly complicated and confusing unless you’re a techie type that loves a challenge. That’s not me as I only want to be able to send email, check the news and run my programs. Sigh.

It does have Windows 8. It’s a little hard to get used to, but I actually like it so far. Ask me again when I have to work on it LOL!
