New Hampshire! We spent a night in Concord, but then headed out towards Manchester and Portsmouth for some riding!
First was Manchester. Ready for riding!
There was a short bike trail that we found.
It was only a few miles long, but very pretty. Crossing the Merrimack:
This was a nice bridge to cross over. No cars!
Then we moved on to Portsmouth to spend the night. We biked to breakfast at Friendly Toast. This is a quirky little place with some good food!
Lots of memorabilia.
John and I split a fruit cup.
Yes, this was the cup!!! I can’t imagine what the bowl size is!
And we split an order of Hansel and Gretel gingerbread waffles.
OMG – these were so good! They had a pomegranate molasses drizzle on them.
Then it was time for some riding. It was a bit chilly this day. Had to layer up.
I crush the tiny lighthouse with my bare hands:
This was a beautiful ride. We followed along the water when we could. Check out this cool sculpture. When you stand just right:
I wonder if the people who live here take this for granted. I suppose we all take where we live for granted after a while.
We had our first lobster roll in Portsmouth as well.
We hadn’t tried another one yet, so I would agree that this is the best so far!
We shared one because it was so big! Lots of good lobster meat and very little mayo on a toasted bun. Simple and perfect.
I don’t want to overload you with pictures, so I will stop there.
Okay, one more from Hampton Beach!
That sculpture is soooo cool!
And I want that waffle. 🙂 looks like a great trip!
It’s always fun to explore a new place on a bike. Glad you guys got to ride.
I love travel blogs! And exploring on a bike sounds so fun. I hope to do that someday. That waffle looks amazing. And the lobster roll sans mayo looks delish too!
What beautiful riding you’ve already had! It’s so true no matter where we live we do take it for granted after a while. I have never had a lobster roll that’s going on my bucket list 🙂
Please keep overloading! I love looking at the pics especially since I live in Europe, I love seeing other places and this one is beautiful.
And I think we take where we live for granted too after a while. For example I sometimes post a pic that doesn’t look special to me but the reactions from others say something different. They look with different eyes than I do.
Have more fun and please make more pictures, love it.
Im allll in to be overloaded too 🙂
it has been eons and ages since Ive been to the beach.
What a beautiful area…the northeast is so pretty! I love the photos! Looks like a great vacation.
Looks like you are having a wonderful time! I’m very happy for you…… and a little bit jealous…..
I LOVE that sculpture!! LOVING the photos and so happy your getaway is going well. Continued safe travels your lighthouse squisher you!! 🙂
Feel free to overload us with photos! I love seeing your vacation travels. It looks like a wonderful place to visit and bike ride.
Beautiful photos! I agree that we often take where we live for granted. Good reminder. Love the sculpture of the painter, it was just perfect for that spot.
WOW Lori – BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Overload us please!!!! I had a hard time getting past the waffle picture! 😉
Sounds like a great trip. SO glad you have your bikes.
Mmm. Lobster rolls. Beautiful photos, and I really like that sculpture. I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned it before, but I think your naturally rosy cheeks are so pretty!
Thanks. They were rosy because it was a bit brisk out 😀
Oooh, pretty pictures! I haven’t been to that part of the country, so I found them quite enjoyable.
(Also, nice to know other people are out there crushing lighthouses, skyscrapers and, on occasion, people’s heads. 🙂 Was that Kids in the Hall? I can’t remember.)
Haha – yes, Kids in the Hall! 😀
Lori,
I am enjoying your site so much. Love the visual travel log and the sculpture, great shot of that. Glad you and hubby are having a good time.
My husband and I moved to DC a few years ago and we’ve yet to trip above NY. Seems like such a shame seeing your gorgeous photos! I’m going to have to add New Hampshire to the never-ending list of places we need to visit 🙂
