Well, glad to be back. There was a domain registration snafu over the weekend. Of course it would be over the weekend and tech support was nonexistent. So, my apologies for anyone thinking I just disappeared – and thanks for people emailing and on FB checking in to let me know. Nice to know people care 😛 Community hugs all around!
Anyhoo – we had the most fantastic weather weekend around here. Just fabulous! So, that meant some good riding happened.
Me and new helmet ready to ride! I finally got my straps adjusted right after the first part of the ride – you can see them sticking out funny in this picture.
We headed down to Schuylerville as I wanted to take John to the place I took my sister a few weeks ago.
It was in the low 60s, so I had on a couple layers, but the sun was shining and it was so nice to be out! We stopped at 8 miles in on route 4 at our usual rest stop along the canal.
I told John to wave hi to the nice people!
I just loved the sky. Spring is finally here!
Now it just needs to get a little greener.
We zipped on down to Schuylerville. We were averaging 14 miles an hour, which is good for our hybrids! We arrived at EspressoHuis at around mile 13.
I love that they showcase local artists and have a local baker do their baked goods. This horse is pretty cool.
I had a raspberry almond cupcake and a latte:
We sat out on the huge deck out back and enjoyed the weather.
Isn’t this a cool place to have a cuppa?
We had a fairly uneventful ride home, but did stop to take some pictures of burros! One of the local farms now has them.
They are for sale, too. Maybe I will ask for one for my birthday
We decided to give one of our tough hills a try to see how the early season legs are. The McIntyre Hill. It’s at the very end of the ride when we go this way. When I first started climbing, I did not think I was going to make it. I was in almost the lowest possible gear and I was talking to myself pretty hard to get to the top (expletives included). We both made it, barely! But yay!!! One of those times when I wish I had a heart rate monitor, although it probably would have exploded.
Ride stats:
Total miles: 27.25
Average speed: 13.5 mph
Top speed: 24.4 mph
Calories burned: 840
Quite pleased with the ride overall. In fact, we got in over 50 miles of riding this weekend. Woot! Next week will be Lake George and those hills.
And to end, as promised, here is one of my guitar videos I made this month. You can watch it on youtube here or below. It’s about 3 minutes.
It took a lot of takes to get one I was fairly happy with LOL!
Is EspressoHuis owned by Dutch people, by any chance? (That’s the Dutch spelling of ‘house’)
I don’t think they are dutch, although maybe somewhere in the distant family past?
Hooray for bike rides and cupcakes! (and I saw on FB you got your first froyo!). Thanks for sharing the guitar video – very impressive!
It was a good weekend with cuppiecakes and froyo!
What a gorgeous day for a ride!
LOVE the video Lori. Thanks so much for sharing!! So glad your tech issues are resolved. And YAY for spring arriving in your neck of the woods!! Have a wonderful Monday.
Thanks Roz!
Wow, very impressed with the bike ride and the guitar. Okay, the cupcake looked pretty good too. Glad you were able to get out and enjoy the spring. Looks like Seattle is going to have a second glimpse of spring with some sun this week (hurry, let me knock on wood now).
Thank you! The cupcake was really good 😀
Ahh, blog is back up, long bike ride was taken, cupcakes and lattes were consumed, and all is right with the world – well, at least in Loriland. 🙂
P.S. Lovely guitar playing!
Things are pretty good in Loriland right now 😀 A little pell-mell, but that is typical. 😀
Glad to see you are all set and writing again. Bet I know where you’ll be stopping for ice cream on that Lake George ride.
Actually, I am thinking the Lake George Baking company for a treat 😀 I am wanting Martha’s, though!
I checked back several times over the weekend, so you were def. missed!
Lovely guitar piece!!
Thank you!
Glad you’re back! I figured it was only temporary 🙂 Your pics are great – cupcakes, biking and DONKEYS! I love donkeys! Happy Spring!
Lori, I am so happy for your bike ride AND cupcake.. all about balance – the theme for my Wednesday post! 🙂 Got to enjoy!
Those burros – are they mean? Cute but heard they wqere mean…
Lori – that was SO GREAT – the guitar video!!! I LOVED the song & you really are great!!!!!! Thank you for sharing with us!
I don’t know much about burros, really. Thanks for listening to the video. I still have a long way to go with playing. It’s only been 2 years, but actually making the videos helps keep me practicing!
You play beautifully!! Are you hiding in the bathroom to video that?? Don’t hide! You should go outside in the beautiful spring weather and play there! Congratulations on such a wonderful biking weekend!
That’s the spare bedroom, but I have to admit that a piece of the old vanity from when I remodeled the bathroom in January is in here because I want to re-purpose it. Not that I have done anything with it yet…
You don’t know how happy it made me to try one more time this morning and find your blog! Isn’t that something–I just had to wait a day. Anyway, I haven’t even listened to your guitar yet, but wanted to tell you I finally got on! Wonderful ride, and yummy treats.
Woohoo: cupcake rides are back! This means Spring is definitely here.
I hardly read blogs over the weekend so for me it is a good thing this happened at the weekend and not during the work week LOL. But I know from experience how annoying it is when your website isn’t working.
