Okay, getting waaaayyyy ahead of the game with this, but I was just so excited to see these when the snow melted off my garden bed!
I actually yelled “SPROUTS!!!!” Dork.
The iris rhizomes appear to have survived the winter:
Need to do some garden bed clean up once it dries out a bit more and is not so squishy. It will be a while before the shade garden shows its face, though:
There was one bulb that probably got pulled up by a squirrel last fall. It is sprouting on its own.
The bulb is a little squishy, so I brought it inside and stuck it in some nutrient soil and will see what happens.
Grow little sprouts!
Another sign of spring are all the ice cream shops opening up for the season.
This is the one 1/3 mile from our house:
So, despite that fact that it was spitting rain and in the mid 40s, John and I walked down for inauguration 😀
Kiddie cone in peanut butter! We walked home and ate these in warmth. Too cold to sit outside!
It’s supposed to be 51 and sunny on Saturday. We will be biking 😀
You wanna talk dorky…I saw the PB on the ice cream stand sign and squealed, “Oooh, peanut butter!” I predict pb fro-yo in my tomorrow. 🙂
Enjoy your ride, Lori!
We finally are expecting a partially sunny day tomorrow although it’s raining right now. We haven’t seen the sun in I don’t know when! I can handle cold – endless gloom about does me in!!
The snow recently melted near my office and I could see all the daffodils shooting up! Sadly, after 50’s tomorrow, we nose dive again and may have a frost on Monday – some April 1st! Hope they survive!
So tickled to see the garden post! My yard is sprouting all over too.
Have fun on your ride.
Molly
That is really close, the ice cream parlor! Fun to see seasonal places like that reopen – it must mean warmer weather is coming (and hopefully soon!). Enjoy your ride tomorrow.
How fun to see the sprouts. I get really excited when mine start popping, especially when I didn’t know they were going to come back this year.
And bringing the ice cream home where its warm enough to eat them–LOL.
YAY for the spring growth!!! Can’t wait to see your garden in bloom! Have a wonderful weekend Lori.
Missed this one – hey, as long as you enjoy, who cares! 🙂 How are the cookies! 🙂
YAY FOR SPRING FINNNNNNALLY coming to you!!!
Spring is coming! Not much sprouts in my garden yet.
Hi
Spring is so overdue I have been trying to try to get fit for a triathlon that I entered. It is my first one and I am so desperate to get out on the road and do some running all I have been doing is a lot of swimming and hours on the turbo trainer for the bike. Snow is nice on skiing holidays. I am happy spring is arriving if you hadn’t of guessed. Glad to see that your bulbs survived. To cold for me yet for an ice cream cone though.
Great post thanks. Lee
