How did they come up with these storm names, anyway? I am not sure the winter storm naming is really going to catch on, though, as only the Weather Channel seems to be calling it by name.
We woke up to snow, but not as much as we thought we might, although it was still snowing. There was maybe 6 inches by morning.
I made up breakfast to warm up before shoveling.
Yum!
We had a delivery coming for John’s business today, so we had to get the driveway cleared out, even though it was still snowing. It wasn’t so bad shoveling with our new driveway. The snow came off easily without the shovel getting stuck in the pits and cracks and tearing up chunks like our old driveway did the past few years. Have I ever mentioned how much I love our new driveway?? 😛
I got really hungry after that workout, so I had the pear that was scheduled for lunch when I got back in.
Work was busy, but only because it was leftover stuff from yesterday. I am sure there were a lot of cancelled appointments from the weather. Lunch break. 1-minute muffin topped with peanut flour and jam.
Then it just kept snowing, and snowing and snowing. All day long!
I had to fortify myself with latte before thinking of doing more shoveling.
We finally went back out to shovel near 4:00 even though it was still snowing because we didn’t want to shovel after dark.
Our bobsled chute is in its infancy, but a good start for the year 😀
My garden is all nestled in now. The garden path is now closed, although the mail carrier often tromps through it anyway.
I took a tape measure out to the middle of the front yard to measure the snow.
11 inches! I bet we will have a full foot by the time it is done. Welcome to the North Country.
That was some good exercise for the day, I tell you. Then inside and finished up work. This is one of those times when I am extra, extra, extra glad I work from home.
My eating has been back on track after Christmas. I had cookie overload and have not eaten one since Christmas. We bundled them up into the freezer except for the ones John wanted to nibble on. So, don’t be surprised if you see a Christmas cookie from time to time in January! They are relegated back to treat status and not stuff-my-face status.
Dinner was ham on top of a potato with laughing cow cheese. We have a lot of ham leftover and are going to have to freeze some of that before I get too tired of it. Right now it still tastes yummy.
We are settled in for the night. I have a new heated throw blanket that John got me because of my complaining about how cold I have been. Pixie has decided that she really likes it as well.
I thought it was hard to keep her off my lap before when I am working and this just make it 10 times worse LOL.
I am off to get my snack and get back under this blanket. I am having these nuts.
They have a very subtle flavor, but tasty.
Hope you all aren’t having to dig out too much from any snow!
Glad you are getting your food back on track! I’m trying to do the same. We ended up going over to our neighbor’s house last night for what was supposed to just be a nightcap but ended up being several AND chili for dinner AND lots of munchies like chips and crackers! UGH!
I just had to hit the cookie wall, I guess, and I hit it pretty hard LOL! I have not wanted one. I will by this weekend, I am sure.
Looks like John’s gift was a two-fer – both you and Pixie are benefiting! If your heated throw is as warm as my heated mattress pad, well then, I know you’re in hog heaven. 🙂
I do not get the naming storms trend. Guess it comes along with 24-hour news – they have to make everything into SOMETHING.
Wow, 12 inches of snow in one day! That is amazing to see. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us. I’ll just enjoy it from a distance, okay?
I’ll bet Pixie loves that blanket! So now are you TOO hot, with both the blanket and Pixie warming you?
It does get warmer when she lays on my lap, so I turn off the blanket then. This blanket has 3 heat settings, too. I love it!
I’m finally coming out of my Christmas coma and enjoying your posts. The lap blanket is a great gift for someone who sits still for so long working. 🙂
Wow, so much snow! Best to stay inside!
I certainly got enough chocolate during Christmas. It’s a relief to get back to normal routines.
Pixie: “I’m glad you finally got me that heated blanket I’ve been eying for ages!” 🙂
Wanting a heated throw (or mattress pad, *Shelley*, does not compute with my menopausal body. In fact, Little Helen gave me some extra light lounging pajamas because Mr. Helen is always cold and wants the heat up and then I’m burning up lol!
Glad you and Pixie are enjoying it though.
We are getting snow tomorrow. As you know I’m not a snow fan but getting it on Saturday when I can tuck in and stay in makes it tolerable at least.
“They are relegated back to treat status and not stuff-my-face status.” made me laugh right out loud. Perfect description!
HOLY CRAP on that snow!!!! Thank goodness for your new driveway!!!! Pretty pics though & I am guessing inside bike for now. 😉 Shoveling that is good exercise!!!!
I got a heated throw w/a coupon from Costco a while back & I would not share! Well, maybe with Pixie! 🙂
Oh, did you get a new driveway? 🙂
My sister gave me a heated throw years ago, and while I appreciated it, I couldn’t really see a need for it. A few weeks later, we had one of our brief cold spells, and I decided to try out the throw for an afternoon nap. I woke up 4 hours later in the exact position I was in when I fell asleep. 🙂
That’s a lot of snow. I told R about it and after recalculating it to our measures it turned out that Bella would have disappeared in it 🙂
I am always hot, my husband is always cold, so a couple years ago I gave him a heated throw and he loves it! While I am sitting in a tank top on the couch next to him. 😀
OMG that is a lot of snow! It sure is pretty but I don’t miss the snow we had in the Midwest. I don’t like being cold and I have an electric blanket to snuggle with on the sofa. It feels so good!
