I am glad to get a chance to relax this weekend. Today I went to the Christmas party for my garden club. We meet on the first Friday of every month from April through December. This was my first year in the group. It’s very hard for me as a shy person to plop myself into a group of strangers, but I have been doing pretty well.
This month’s meeting was close enough for me to walk to. A little over 1.5 miles away, so not worth driving. We ate at The Gavel Grille, and I was pleased with my lunch choice. I had a salad which had greens, blue cheese crumbles, pistachios and grapes with dressing on the side, plus a cup of soup. All the other sandwiches came out and they were huge!! Glad I didn’t get that. I had been here once for dinner, but forgot how big the meals are. Here is a picture of some art in the restaurant. The owners used to run a restaurant in Saratoga with a horse theme (surprise, surprise) and they brought up all the artwork for this restaurant.
They dressed up the jockeys and horses for the holidays!
I don’t feel comfortable enough taking pictures of my food in front of the garden club members. Perfect strangers – no problem. Family and people I know well – no problem. People I sort of know – a lot harder.
I walked about half way home and John picked me up to take me to coffee (where I had a cookie – thank goodness for light lunch!) and also because it was starting to precipitate out. John said he knew I did not have an umbrella with me. That man certainly knows me very well.
The nice thing about our jobs is letting us get out for a bit. My job can be somewhat stressful at times, and yes, I have to work tonight to make up for that, but I love the flexibility.
Ornament of the day:
These little glass candies we bought from one of my niece’s school fundraisers. It was this or cookie dough!
This weekend will be doing some more inside decorating with a Pinterest project. We will see if it is a flop or a success 😀
Hope you all have a relaxing weekend!
Good job on the lunch choice. Plus how fun that John would pick you up halfway home and take you to coffee!
I love those horses on the wall of the restaurant. And I love your candy ornaments. Hard candy = not tempting for me!
Awww… that John is a keeper. Enjoy your weekend.
I love when a cookie opportunity presents itself and I have room for it! 🙂
Hope you have a nice, relaxing weekend, Lori!
Good for you to get out and join a group. I had the hardest time joining our local gym and an even harder time doing my first group fitness session. I don’t like new people/situations at all. I love the glass candy – it looks like something I would have on my tree. 🙂
I liked your criteria for when you take pictures! 🙂
Love those candy ornaments – and I do the same thing when having to buy something from a fundraiser…look for the non-food item.
I love it that you both have that flexibility in your work. Sometimes wish I had it but I also know I’m not good at picking up work after relaxation 🙂
