Let’s just be random for a Friday, shall we?
One of the books I am currently reading right now. Perfect for the month of October – a collection of ghost stories.
I think I am the only one who didn’t realize that Joseph Hill is Stephen King’s son. I was reading these stories and I thought the author must have been heavily influenced by Stephen King. Turns out that is his dad! Other than the first story (hated it), I have liked all of the stories so far. There are sad ones and scary ones and just weird ones. The writing is clean and neat. I do love short story collections because I can read a story from start to finish and not worry about finding my place again.
More in the halloween spirit? We were out for coffee today and the coffee shop dressed up the antique grinder.
I found this really amusing.
Temperatures are supposed to be in the 20s tonight. The 20s!!! Brrrr….. That might kill any growth on the plants. I do have some late rose buds that haven’t opened. We were hoping to ride tomorrow. It may not be a really long ride because a high of maybe 50 is pretty cold to be out in all day. If the temps can recover that high after the 20s. Biking season is really dwindling down.
We only have a bit of the floor left to do. This is the last of the 3rd room.
Then it is replacing the baseboards, along with some repairs and paint touch ups. I totally broke one of the baseboard pieces, so we will have to buy a new one. I can’t wait to have our house back in order!
Today’s pink picture? My camera case:
No, you’re not the only one who didn’t know about Joe Hill. My first thought was, ‘who is Joe Hill, and why is his name so big?” In the olden days I would have loved a collection of ghost stories. Then I decided I didn’t like the scary dreams that came with them!
Love seeing the progress on your house. I know it seems long to you, but watching the progress here, it seems like you have done this in no time. By yourselves, and two people who are working too!
I have a pink camera case too!
It feels like a long time because our stuff is in disarray. The couch is in the dining room. The dining room table is covered with stuff. Things are all out of place. We actually are making good progress by doing a little bit each day. The click and lock flooring is pretty easy to work with, which helps.
I just finished that collection myself, actually! (I’m a big Stephen King fan, so I admit that’s how I found him, but I kind of love that he doesn’t really play that up–he’s got his own style!) That first story was REALLY unsettling, but I liked the rest of it quite a lot. Short story collections are one of my favorite things for the same reason as you–I can read in pieces & come back to them. Plus it’s one of my favorite ways to check out an author–if they can hold me for a short story, I’m more willing to try a novel 🙂
There is a 50 degree difference between our morning LOW temperatures – hard to believe we are in the same country!!!
I am really loving the new floors. I should save money to do ours, as they really do “make” the room.
I love the floors so much. I wish we hadn’t waited so long to do them, but there were other pressing things that needed to be done (furnace, windows, all that type of stuff). This really wasn’t all that expensive, although it could have been had we chosen a pricier floor material.
I did not know that about Stephen King’s son!!!!
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR there. We are happy for some cooler weather here but going to get hot again next week….. I think I might choose over 20’s though! 😉
I didn’t know Stephen King’s son was an author! Back when I read actually books, and not blogs, he was one of my favorite authors. Way to go on your 2000 miles – saw it on Facebook!
Here’s hoping you were able to squeeze in a ride!
I’m loving your flooring and am definitely reconsidering laminate! (In my price point and considering that most of the rooms are low-use rooms, it really does make sense.)
I didn’t even know that Stephen King had a son and not that he is an author too. So you’re not alone in this.
The 20’s?!?! Wow! It’s been down around 35 degrees at night here but thankfully not freezing yet.
