The heat is back!
Doesn’t that picture just look hot?? I unplugged from the internet after dinner last night and didn’t get back on. That was a nice little break. I love the net, but there is the real world, you know? Plus there was froyo to be had with my mom!
I got to the gym this morning and the drinking fountain was covered up for a boil water order in Glens Falls. Eeek! I would have brought my water bottle had I known that. I just like to walk to the fountain in between sets to get drinks when I need them.
Today was low reps, more sets and heavier weights. A sweaty day 😀
Exercise | Set/rep/weight |
1. Crunches on stability ball | 2 sets of 15 |
2. Complex: High Pull, Front Squat/Push Press, Back Squat, Good Morning | 4 sets of 8 each exercise with 20# bar |
3A. Â Deadlift | 4 sets of 5 with 90# bar |
3B. Dumbbell Overhead Press with rotation | 4 sets of 5 with 20# DBs |
3C. Single Leg Squat | 4 sets of 5 |
3D. Bent Over Row | 4 sets of 5 with 60# bar |
2 more workouts. Off to home and making breakfast!
Banana breakfast pudding. Â Our bananas were getting brown fast, so we both had them at breakfast today to use them up.
Another busy work day and sneaking peaks at the Tour de France. Â Poor Cadel Evans. Â Not a good day for him and likely no repeat win. Â The riders are in the Alps and I can feel my legs screaming watching them go up those mountains.
Then the mail carrier arrived with a gift to myself!
John and I are going to start bird watching.  I guess when I can tear myself away from the bike, that is.  We have some nice trails that have lists of the birds seen there to help us out.  Of course, that means getting up early – which John isn’t thrilled about 😈
Lunch was a mish mash.
At least it was cool and refreshing! Â I took a walk at lunch for about 10 minutes and decided no more because it was starting to get really hot. Â The humidity is coming, too. Â I am so glad we don’t live in the south. Â I couldn’t take it in the summer. Â Remind me of that when I am shoveling 3 feet of snow this winter, okay?
Break time!
I think I need a dried pineapple intervention.
I polished off more fruit for dinner. Â Embarrassingly enough, today I finished off our bananas, strawberries and blueberries!
I loves my fruit!
Gotta water the garden tonight when the sun goes down. Â It’s looking a little droopy and needs to be in prime shape for the Friday What’s Blooming post!
I will also be hitting the bike path early tomorrow to get in the exercise before it becomes sweltering.
Pixie is dreaming of cool weather.
She looks like she is snarling at something in her dreams. Â She is such a sweet kitty that maybe she gets out her aggression in sleep.
Hope you all are staying cool.
Its fun to read your post about dinner when I am barely thinking about it!
Hot hot hot here today too. Took a walk at 8:30 and it was already getting too hot. I watered my plants too. However, I did not go to the gym today–that’s for tomorrow.
Next winter instead of shoveling three feet of snow, you can come spend a week with me. It’s doubtful you’ll ever have to shovel that much snow!! And although our humidity can be brutal at times, it still certainly isn’t like the deep south!
Everytime you put a pic of that dried pineapple my mouth waters. I love that stuff and there’s no way I could eat just two slices. Better to keep the taste out of my mouth completely.
Hey Lori!!
Its HOT here too 105 yesterday! Darn i was hoping i left that heat in TX. Whew! But i get out and walk early! Which helps some. At least mornings ARE cool here til about 10-11am then you can feel the heat come on and by 2pm the air is on…..uugghh….You know NEVER complain about eating all the fruit! It could have been much worse!! 🙂 Hugs! deb
I’ve lived in the South all my life, and I still don’t think I’m used to the humidity. LOL
I eat a lot of fruit all year, but especially so at this time of year when I don’t want anything “heavy”.
These warm humid days make me grateful for a/c. 🙂 our temps have cooled slightly and we’re having thunderstorms daily in the afternoons. I just love it.
We had weird weather here in CA today. Humidity & rain & crazy stuff came out of the blue! Supposed to get back to normal by Sunday but very weird!
OK – you know I love Pixie but that tooth thing cracked me up! 🙂
I bring 2 water bottles to the gym for me. I don’t like using a public water fountain & especially with some of what I see in there! :-O
Hava a good ride & fun with the birds! 😉
We finally got a break from the heat but now it is raining almost every day! We have three bird feeders in the yard and we all just love, love, love watching all the varieties that we see!
I was trying to find the recipe for banana breakfast pudding, I would like to try it!!!!! Is it on your site somewhere????
Thanks!!!
~Laura

We are having a heat wave with triple digit weather! Thank goodness for central air! I need to make that banana bread pudding again-it’s so filling. Hope you have a great weekend
I love a good rain storm but it hasn’t rained in Chicago for weeks! My grass is crunchy its so dry. We thought of having a bonfire the other day, but then didn’t want to start a bruch fire!
Have a great weekend Lori!
Awww…little Pixie. Poor little hotsie! So excited that you’re going to be bird watching!!!! Have a great weekend Lori, hope the temperatures cool a bit for you all.
I think Pixie wants a little friend . . . . Love your garden pix. Our garden is mostly around the perimeter of the yard, but I love seeing yours, close to the house. Yes, we’re hot and humid, but really, unless we do it in the middle of the day, the “personal breeze” created by biking makes it okay, even when it’s quite hot. We definitely look for shaded trails, though.
No worries about me staying cool. We are heading towards one of the wettest Summers ever. It looks a bit better next week but still not hot. Not that I want that, you know me: I don’t like heat in Holland 🙂
Lately I unplug from the internet completely at the weekend and I love it. I have more time for cross stitching, reading and other things. I keep up with FB through my phone and only use the internet to update my stats after a workout.
send the visitor my way…..as I hide inside from the heat Id happily take a new playmate
