Going no sugar today

What day is it? I am having one of those weeks where I can’t remember what day it is! I did wake up to lift this morning.

I had to defrost and scrape the car windshield, too. All because I didn’t want to back the car into the garage last night. I should show you a picture of it some time. You have to get it just right going in at an angle because of our back porch. Get it wrong and you will hit the pole on one side (done that) or the edge of the porch (also done that).  It’s truly annoying and even worse when we get the big piles of snow from shoveling.  But I digress…

Had a good workout today.  The gym was warmer than usual, so I sweated a lot.  Ewwww.

Exercise Set/rep/weight Muscle worked
YTWL 3 sets of 4 with 8# DBs Shoulders
Stationary Lunge 3 sets of 10 with 35# plate Lower body
Dumbbell Pull Over 3 sets of 10 with 25# DB Back
Trunk Twists 3 sets of 30 with wooden bar (it really weighs nothing) Core
Barbell Chest Press 3 sets of 10 with 55# bar Chest
Triceps Press 3 sets of 10 with 10# DBs  (20# total) Triceps
Single-leg straight leg deadlift 3 sets of 10 with 15# DBs (30# total) Hammies and balance
Lower Back Extension 3 sets of 10 at 80# Low back

I finished out the workout with 1.5 miles of walking on the treadmill. I had a weird urge to jog as well, but have I not learned my lesson?  🙄

I came home to a 1-minute waffle (that takes 5).

I was shooting for a no-added sugar day.  I have had sugar issues since this weekend.  John sends homemade goodies to his family for Christmas.  That meant the cooking weekend, which included 3 kinds of fudge and sugared pecans (my big weakness).  There was some left over and I proceeded to eat a lot of it.  I am not like other people who say “I had a couple pieces and it was too rich for me.”

I can really pack it away to this day.  It’s one of the things that scares me.  I can eat a lot of food and not be stuffed.  That’s how I know that I could go back up to 250 pounds.  It would probably be pretty easy if I allowed myself. But that isn’t going to happen. Gotta tough love myself this time.

For lunch, I had more of the meatless balls from yesterday’s post.  I split open a coconut flour biscuit, toasted it and spread it with laughing cow.  Topped with hot sauce.

A good amount of hot sauce!  It kind of looks like a weird version of Eggs Benedict.  Good, though.

I made lattes today, but the steamer wand doesn’t seem to want to work right on my new machine. Boooo….  The milk is hot, but no foam.

I have to call the company now and see what to do.  🙁

Work was busy for both of us today. Always a good thing, but it does make one tired.

We wanted a no-think dinner tonight.  So, John cooked up popcorn fish for us.  Guess who had hot sauce with another meal!  That would be me  😀

I haven’t bought pears in a couple weeks, so it was nice to have one again. My food was dangerously close to touching, though.  I don’t mind the broccoli touching the shrimp, but it must not touch the fruit!  We all have our weird food habits, right??

I am going to make it without sugar today.  I have these for later:

Now it is time to ride the bike trainer for a bit and then relax! Tomorrow is a busy day.

Sometimes I’m one of those “I can only have a few bites and I’m stuffed” days and then there are days where I am a bottomless pit.

Crack oranges! My favorites!! And perfect for sweet tooths.

Chuckling at the ‘food touching’ issues. I’m not like that, but I do get irritated when the lemon or vinegar from my fish RUINS my veggies by getting on them.

Yep, I”m having a good ol’ time without sugar. Its no fun fighting it. I still don’t want to give it up forever though.

I totally need to tough love myself lately. Packing it away is, sadly, a skill one never forgets!

Your food looks yummy as always 🙂

Don’t worry too much about your inner strength Lori. I’ve been following you for quite some time now and you are one of the strongest persons I know. No way you will go back to 250 pounds. You take action as soon as it’s needed and you did that again now.

I had the same problem with food: I could eat everything without feeling stuffed. But lately it became a problem, I did feel bloated all the time, that’s one of the reasons I went low carb which helped. But have to be honest here, I need to take some action too because I have more carbs moments than I should have.

Yeah, I rarely have that “too rich” problem, too. At least you recognize the need to rein it in – and do so – that shows how much you’ve changed, and how dedicated you are to the new you.

Hope you get your frother fixed!

I’m convinced that double (or triple) car garages are so it’s easier to back into them! 😉
I’ve also never figured out the “too rich for me” saying (re: treats not garages! 😉 but it does apply to garages for me! lol)
FUDGE??!!! Mmmm. I had a run-in with some last week…
Sugar-less? Yah, I feel so much better when I avoid it…but it still calls my name… 🙁
    Have a great day!

The food not touching made me smile. My daughter was like that as a teenager. I think shes grown out of it though. Thanks for stopping by and leaving the Congrats!!!!

Your not alone in your love for sweets. I can go absolutely crazy as well. I have to walk away and brush my teeth. It’s that teeth brushing that seems to work for me.

Lori – I have no doubt you will keep the weight off! I hear you on this food thing. I have never lost my love of sweets, even after all these years & I always look forward to me cookies on the weeeknd….it is a mental game every day for me in one way or another! 🙂

I think the meds increased my appetite and I was NEVER full. MUST. EAT. FOOD. Ha Ha

If you had a surplus of fudge and sugared pecans (seriously, really, yum!) you could always pack up an extra box and send to Green Bay! 😉

Ok twice in this post you made me laugh out loud! First when you talked about being able to pack it away… yep, me too! Next when you talked about the food touching thing. That runs a bit rampant in my family and our little nephew Jacob has inherited it. The first time he asked Mr. Helen to move something on his plate, Mr. Helen looked at me and said, “Oh dear! It’s hereditary!” 😀

I love spicy balls! I’ll have to check out that recipe – the more hot sauce on top, the better! Thanks for your continued support through Tony’s surgery – I appreciate it! 😀

OK…I admit, I snickered a bit when you said you don’t want the pear touching anything else. And here is my weird food quirk. I don’t like ketchup ON food, only on the side. It makes no sense…on it or dipped beside, the food is still getting ketchup’d. Hope the frother on the new machine is fixed ASAP!!!!
