What a nice relaxing weekend! We did manage to do a lot, though. How about a flash recap:
Paying for John’s football meal:
Nice weather on Saturday, warm enough to get out the bikes again! Yippee!
Yep, still some snow, but the roads are clear.
We headed to Glens Falls and I hit up the Shirt Factory Holiday Open House.
I ordered a new bowl from the potter that is there. Someone broke my favorite bowl. I won’t name any names, but it wasn’t me and it wasn’t Pixie.
I like the Shirt Factory. A violin maker moved in:
No guitars, though 😀
We then biked to buy some Christmas lights. This was false advertising:
I don’t know where they grow gold Christmas trees. Maybe in the land of the 1% 🙄
Bicycle and Christmas lights! We each had one on our packs.
LED lights and saving gas by biking. I should change my last name to Green.
We are getting desperate here people. We resorted to afternoon lattes here:
Actually, the latte was about on par with Starbucks, but much cheaper. The “baristas” were scary, though. I asked if they had decaf lattes and they said “No, it’s espresso.” 😯
This weekend, we also hung up the Christmas lights and did up the tree:
Sunday brought more biking, too!
There was a lot of traffic and this ride was a little annoying in that regard. We stopped in at Sweetie Pie’s to make this a cupcake ride!
I had a butter pecan cupcake:
It was quite good. The ride was only 17 miles round trip, but I was a little tired from 2 days of biking in a row. It’s easy to lose the bike legs when you aren’t riding regularly. I think this was probably the last ride of the season.
There was also a beautiful sunset:
The weekend went by way too fast! Not much done in the way of Christmas shopping (never do Black Friday), but I got in a lot of relaxing and some unexpected riding with about 33 miles over the course of 2 days!
Please say the broken bowl wasn’t the candy corn bowl!
No, not the candy corn bowl LOL! It was my blue bowl.
Hi Lori. LOVE that you got some late November riding in, really love the violin photo, your tree looks gorgeous, and that sunset? Beautiful. Does Pixie whack the ornaments on the tree? We didn’t put a tree up last year because Neva was still a kitten and we had trust issues with her. Truth be told, we still do, but we aren’t going without a tree two years in a row…and the only ornaments that will go on are of the shatterproof variety! If you have any tips on keeping cats away from tree damage, I’d love to hear it.
We have an artificial tree, which goes a long way to it not be appealing to a cat. When we had Chloe and real trees, she would climb the tree, but not bother the ornaments. Pixie will bat some of the lower hanging ornaments, but she actually prefers crumpled paper to anything in the world. She isn’t a climber and she never has bothered our tree (knock on wood).
Glens Fall, NY?! Love that area if it is. Love the biking. Almost winter and you are still at it. Good for you!
Awesome that you guys ride this time of year… I wish I had your dedication!
Love the tree! Yours, I mean, not the gold one. Can’t wait for Christmas to get here!
I’m just amazed that you got to go for bike rides on Thanksgiving weekend, in your neck of the woods…global warming? 😉 Nice, anyway!
The tree looks great. Usually our cats like to sleep under our tree (artificial), but occasionally an ornament will appear on the floor.
Hi Lori! I love your Christmas tree! It’s so old fashioned with the decorations–just perfect.
🙂 Marion
So cool that you were able to go for another bike ride this weekend. And jippie: a cupcake involved!
I haven’t made my mind up if I’m going to use our “fake” tree or buy a real one this year. In both cases it will be Bella’s first tree and not sure how that will be ending 🙂
Have a great weekend Lori.
so so so fallPRETTY.
and yes.
GO STEELERS 🙂
Whoa – that bit of snow is scaring me!
Glad you got in another bike ride. Each time you’ve gone out lately I keep thinking “that’s probably the last ride of the year” but you manage to get more in! Good for you!
I actually don’t mind McDonalds coffee. But yes, they aren’t quite as customizeable as Starbucks… still MUCH easier on the wallet!
I spent most of the weekend outdoors as well – we were breaking temp records around here. I’ll take it though! 😀
I don’t drink lattes but pretty much the only place I’ll buy coffee is McDonald’s. I take my coffee black and feel that Starbucks is not only overpriced, it’s bitter. Love the Newman’s Own Organic coffee at McDonald’s and it’s only $1 for any size!!
Wow, biking & snow! :-O Looks like fun though & love the violins – how cool! Pretty Xmas tree too!!! Not the 1% one, yours! 😉
Glad you enjoyed a cupcake! I went cookie crazy this weekend & enjoyed every minute of it! 🙂
Fun post and a fun weekend! LOL at the McCafe coffee. Maybe I’ll have to try them. I don’t really want to go in a McDonalds though and smell all that stuff. Afraid it’ll make me want it again.
I think I am going to have to make some of my rides “cupcake” rides now!! 🙂
I am so glad you are still able to ride. I always wonder when it will be my “last” ride of the season!
Your tree looks beautiful!
Hooray for getting more biking in! No snow for us yet – hopefully it isn’t as bad as last year! Glad you guys got a lot done over the weekend. Sadly I can’t decorate until after December 10th – otherwise my husband deems it too early – poo! 🙁
“I asked if they had decaf lattes and they said “No, it’s espresso.” How did you not crack up laughing? I’m not sure I could have kept myself contained on that one. 🙂
I wasn’t laughing because I was worried about them getting my drink right LOL!
Pretty tree; beautiful sunset. Thank you for sharing your pictures.
Is it just an American tradition or are you’re early with the Christmas tree?
We usually put our Christmas tree up on the day before Christmas Eve, which is the most important Christmas day in Finland. That’s because we get our gifts on Christmas Eve!
I was really impressed by the turkey-zilla 🙂
It depends. We have an artificial tree, so we can really put it up any time. If we were to have a real tree, it would go up much closer to Christmas.
