First For Women article!

The December issue of First for Women came out!  Woo Hoo!  This was the magazine article that I had the photo shoot for back in October.  I was really curious about which outfit was chosen.

This is it!

I think it was a good choice for the magazine, even though I liked the little jacket the best.  Again, these pants were so amazing.

The article was a little smaller than they normally are, but that’s okay because the best thing is they mentioned my blog!  Finally!

This issue was all about phyto chemicals or natural stuff like that, so they did say a kind of strange thing in the article that I noticed changes in my face after a month.  I really don’t remember saying anything like that, but I did mention my face was more clear when I started reducing dairy in my diet and eating more coconut oil. Oh and the weight is not right.  I weigh more than 142 in that photo, although I don’t know the exact number because my scale doesn’t have numbers.

The other thing that was funny was that my 40-mile weekend bike rides turned into riding 40 miles a day. You all know I bike a lot, but 40 miles a day is a bit much even for me LOL!

John  mentioned that the whole magazine was about food.  It’s true.  Of course, it is a holiday issue, so there will definitely be food, but I loved how the first part of the magazine was all health, weight loss, nutrition, and then a few pages later is this:

All in all, I was really pleased with the photo and the article. The thing I was worried about the most was the photo.  It is really hard sometimes to put yourself out there, knowing that criticism and judgement goes along with that.  Right or wrong, it happens.  I really did enjoy the photo shoot as the group of ladies made me feel wonderful and relaxed, and I think it showed in the picture.

Woo hoo! You look great. I’m going to have to go get my copy!

They said some “interesting” things in my article too. I feel like they sometimes stretch the truth to fit their slant of the article. But who cares? It’s cool to see it in print!

    Lori,

I think the photo is fabulous. I’ve been following your blog since last summer. You have such a fresh perspective of food and fun – I really appreciate all you share with your readers. Take care, Daria

Congratulations Lori! You look fantastic! Yes I love how they have weight loss and decadent recipes in the same magazine.

It’s a great picture and wonderful that they are spotlighting you, but I agree, it’s also interesting what they hear and print…oh well, it wasn’t too far off (although I did laugh about the 40 miles a day bike riding – I guess if you didn’t work, you could fit that in!).

I really get a kick out of seeing my bloggy reads in magazines – definitely want to pick up a copy. and I’m glad they mentioned your blog 🙂

Congrats on the article. That’s a great photo of you. More info on the pants, please. Did you mention them in the original photo shoot post? I vaguely remember something, but don’t remember the details.

Lori be proud of the article, we are proud of you. It’s a great article and you look fantastic in that outfit. I read the article first and thought: 40 miles a day and she didn’t even tell us? LOL

You deserve to be in the spotlight as you are an inspiration to so many of us.

It’s really kind of cool to “know” someone famous!! You look great and they couldn’t have picked a better role model to feature. Thanks so much for all the time you spend on your blog. I enjoy every post and am so appreciative of the time you spend taking the pictures and writing the posts.

When I read the 40 miles a day thing I thought, “I don’t think Lori would exaggerate THAT much.” Too funny!

I’ve been thinking about it and I think John should buy you those slacks for Christmas – a perfect gift because he’d know in advance that you’ll love them. 😉

You look simply fantastic & amazing! I think one of the best pics & the clothes look great!!! Signing autographs??? 🙂 You show people it can be done Lori!!!

BTW, the treats look good too! 😉

    Have a wonderful holiday!!

I love the picture – you look fantastic! I am a little amused by the slight word changes they made – like the 40miles of biking a day. It makes you wonder if all articles are just slightly off, giving people an unrealistic view of reality?

CONGRATS! Do you save all your magazine articles and frame them? I certainly would!

I’m very proud of you, Lori! The photo is great! I think Helen has a good idea about John buying the pants for you. I second the motion!

You look amazing, Lori! I am buying the mag next time I go to the store!!! So happy for you!!! I tried to repost (share) on my blog Facebook page, but for some reason it wouldn’t let me. Anyway, I just wanted to tell everyone that you are a TRUE EXAMPLE of healthy living!

    Congrats and Happy Thanksgiving!

Congratulations Lori! You look marvelous!! By the way, I’m a real fan of your blog–I don’t know how I found you months ago, but I am so glad that I did. From making your coconut biscuits, to reading about your coffee and bagel trips and cupcake runs, to looking at your oh-so-appetizing photos, and watching your garden grow, you’re the first website I look at in the morning! Thanks for taking the time to let us into your life. Enjoy your new celebrity status…and continued success in all that you do! Happy Thanksgivng! Lilac

Nothing to worry about with the photo—you look absolutely FANTASTIC!! The article was great too–although I know what you mean how they edit things a little to make it more dramatic, like the 40 miles per day rides. But you’ve done 100-mile rides before, so 40 is modest! 😉 Seriously, it’s such a great picture of you–and you look so SKINNY!

    Congrats on the article, Lori!

I’ve been interviewed a couple of times and my (limited) experience is that papers never seem to get the facts right… 🙂

I FOUND IT!!! And I bought a copy – I leafed through the magazine in the store & recognized the baked goodies first! LOL So it’s in Canada too – Southern Ontario! (PS I even broke our “no buying magazines” rule and used a little cash to buy it for myself! 😉 ).

You look wonderful. I did laugh about the 40 miles a day. I like to bike too, but that was a tremendous amount for anyone who is not a professional…LOL. You are truly an inspiration. And the picture and story were awesome.

  20. Carol Forthman

You look amazing! It’s always interesting to see what the magazine says and what is really true.

I love reading your blog as you navigate maintenance. We’re close to the same age, the same height and started at the same weight. I hit goal last Dec. and maintenance has been a struggle since Aug. (vacation at Disney, so we’re also both Disney lovers!). I’m only a little above goal, but it plays with my head because I work for Weight Watchers and need to stay within a certain range to keep my job. It’s always an inspiration to read about your maintenance ups and downs and know that it can be done.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Very wonderful! Many times when I read your blog, I forget your amazing story. I usually want to see your great recipes and fitness adventures with husband. And I like your personality. This article is a “trophy,” you know, for the hard work you did.

    🙂 Marion
