Thank you all so, so much for the anniversary wishes! We don’t exchange gifts, but we did go out to a nice dinner last night and then since this is a special anniversary (15), we are going to do a champagne brunch cruise on Lake George this weekend.
Anyway, I thought I would show you what we had for dinner last night. Bistro LeRoux is fairly new and is chef owned an operated. It is an upscale bistro and super charming outside and inside.
I have to say that I love the trend of restaurants serving the small plate option. This allows us to get an appetizer if we want and not feel stuffed. Also, it makes it much more affordable!
Bistro Leroux does a variety of dishes from gluten free, to vegan and omnivore, plus they have their own vegetable garden.
We split an appetizer of crab cakes.
These were ah-mazing! Very good crab with chunks of meat. The slaw on top was very interesting as was the chipotle cilantro. Neither of us likes cilantro at all, but I would not have guessed there was any in it. It almost tasted like pesto. So good!
My entree was half portion of Apple Braised Chicken Waldorf.
This was also excellent and had such a nice contrast of flavors and textures. The only thing I didn’t like was the bits of celery in the Waldorf salad (but I just don’t like celery that much). It had a parmesan risotto underneath. Love!
John had the half portion wild sea scallops with garlic mashed potatoes and prosciutto wrapped asparagus.
Also very delicious and the scallops were so moist! I have never had prosciutto before, so I tried some of John’s. It was like really flavorful bacon 😀
Since these portions were smaller, we decided to split dessert. We split the chocolate lava cake.
This was good, but didn’t bowl us over like the other items.
Definitely recommended! After that, we went to my sister’s house to distribute those squinkies to my niece 😀
Wow, what a pretty bistro! I love it. The food looks amazing. I’ve never had risotto or prosciutto before. Very wild. Glad it was all so yummy. Can’t wait to see the cruise pictures. I did my very first a few weeks ago and it was wonderful! You’ll love it.
Oh, and just so you know…
BRING IT ON SUNDAY
MUHAHAHAHA
Just kidding, sort of. 🙂
That game is going to be painful. Very, very painful…
I LOVE your dinner choice. Yummy and fresh. I had prosciutto wrapped shrimp one time, and I have never forgotten them!!
Don’t forget your camera on the cruise–we want to enjoy that too!
It all looks wonderful! Happy anniversary!
I started salivating over the pictures!
Visually, the chocolate lava cake is the most impressive of the dishes. Love the “halo” on top. 🙂
so so so lovely.
the food AND the marriage.

Dinner looks great, they had made the plates beautiful.
Have fun next weekend on the champagne brunch cruise, that sound like fun too.
I am so with you on the small plates. Even though I don’t mind leftovers, the huge portions served at most restaurants just annoy me. The lighting in your photos tells me it was a wonderful evening! Everything looks absolutely yummy. Glad you made your special anniversary extra special by really celebrating.
Love the smaller servings. It all looks beautiful and I would definitely eat there since they have GF options.
Thanks for sharing your happy night!
I love the smaller servings, too. I’m noticing more and more restaurants offering them, and it’s more than welcome.
Mmmm that cake looks divine. I am totally craving chocolate cake!
Interesting dinner. Looks like a nice place to enjoy a 15 year anniversary. Congrats to you both!
I also love the smaller plate options, both for the food and the cost. It looks like a wonderful dinner! Enjoy your cruise!
Happy Anniversary!
We’ve almost tried that place, so next time we are out in Glens Falls, we will definitely have a meal there. I love the option of smaller plates.
Love lives on!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂
Yum! The prosciutto-wrapped asparagus is delicious. I had a Tapena Wine House Party/tapas party and in the cookbook one of the recipes was simply asparagus wrapped in Serrano ham. I didn’t know where I would find that and felt that prosciutto would make a fantastic substitution. Crispy, salty and bacon-y- perfect! It actually is just unsmoked bacon.
Happy anniversary! Those crab cakes look amazing. I’ve wanted to try and make my own but I’ve never done it.
