Healthy Heart Weekend is here! Some of you are already done, too – you rock!
I woke up ready to go. I didn’t sleep all that well. Ones of those times where I thought I was going to go up in flames from night sweats.
And I woke up to -15 degrees. (That’s minus 15).
I had a couple of dates and some almond butter pre run.
I do love this snackie before running.
Ready?
Hopped on the treadmill at the gym and did 4 miles!
Sweating buckets, as usual. I was ready to eat when I got home. Time for oats, baby! My true love for breakfast.
I did these as custard oats, but instead of mashing the banana up into the cooking water, I sliced it and sauteed in a tsp of buttah (real butter) and cinnamon. Topped with the coconut butter.
OMG! I loved this. Recipe for coconut butter coming tomorrow.
Work is somewhat slow this week. Sigh. My resume is still floating out there, but nobody seems to like me. Their loss.
Lunch time. Higher carb day today, so I included some pan fried sweet potatoes with my chicken. Tasty!
Friday latte love with the last of the Pure Dark sample. I figured out why I couldn’t taste cherry the other day- the big chunks of dried cherries had fallen off into the bag. I don’t like cherries, so I don’t mind that. More nibs for me!
I also had a spoonful of chocolate coconut butter I made today (to be in tomorrow’s post). Melted Mounds anyone? D’oh! Need to ration that stuff carefully.
I was not so hungry for dinner, so I had it a little later than usual. Just prior to this post, in fact. Thank you to coconut butter. Since I was working, I made it a quick fix dinner. Chick’n patty
And I ran out of Laughing Cow, my usual topping, so it was leftover processed cheese spread from the Super Bowl. The sacrifices I make, I tell you. This was a mighty tasty pear, too.
It’s nice to have basically an egg-free day (except egg whites in my oats). I thought I was going to start clucking like a chicken with all of the eggs I have been eating this week.
Well, this lady has to get back to work on Friday night. Hope you all have a great night and have fun doing the Healthy Heart Weekend! It’s not too late to join, either, if you want.
Night sweats – so not fun.
I would have a really hard time leaving my house in minus 15 degree weather to go exercise, even if you are working out indoors. It’s that trip to and from the car…brrrrr! Nice work getting your run on! 🙂
I know – I left the gym and I think my hair froze! Eeek!
Because you have posted about them here and there I picked up a box of the MorningStar Farms Chick’n patties and had one for lunch today. I topped mine with an herb light laughing cow cheese and some left over Taco Bell Fire hot sauce (at work you do whatcha-gotta do). It was delicious! I paired it with a yogurt and some blueberries. Delish!
Thanks for the recommendation, those are going in the rotation!
Laughing Cow and hot sauce make anything pretty tasty 😀
Oooo, nice run today! 🙂 And good eats, too! Those oats look particularly yummy!
Hope you and John enjoy a great “healthy heart weekend!”
Great job on your run, Lori! I’m ready!! Looking forward to mine tomorrow!
Oh my gosh. I could not make myself leave the house in minus 15 degree weather. Good job! I’m looking forward to my 6 mile walk tomorrow.
I didn’t get any pictures, but I started the weekend off right with a 7.35mi run today. 🙂
I *CANNOT* wait to get the recipe for coconut butter…it just sounds so incredibly scrumptious.
I can’t believe what I just read…I may have to stop reading your blog. You don’t like cherries??? How could this be? 😉
I am over it…I can’t resist your blog.
Love the food today and love the running before and after pics.
I guess I can join the Heart Healthy weekend now that I have a cord to upload my pics…will have to go and add my name to the list.
Have a great weekend!
I had a bad experience with a cherry pie when I was younger. I ended up getting sick and after that – I just have never wanted another cherry. Funny for such a fruit fiend, I know!
-15? I can’t even imagine how cold that is. Says a CA girl 😉 I love your mug with the paws on it.
hope your resume falls into the perfect job
Lori, I can relate to you way more than I care to say on those night sweats! Have had them on & off for years now… crap, can’t this just go away & stay away!!! I had some probs last night too!
I will be doing my healthy heart jog tomorrow! Pic without face forth coming then!
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR… you guys in that weather are brave! 🙂
Yay for the 4 miles!! I’m always sweaty gross after a run.
That coconut butter looks really good
Can’t wait to see how everyone is doing with their heart healthy weekend! I’m so glad you did it for us this year! 🙂
Definitely loved doing the Healthy Heart Run, thanks for hosting Lori. Now tell me: when can I expect the coffee beans 😆
Funny we’re eating grilled chicken with chili sauce on a bread tonight with roasted sweet potatoes on the side 🙂
Nooooo! Im so upset I missed the Healthy Heart Weekend challenge and is already the last day :(. I’ll stay tunned to your blog for your next challenge :D…Good luck to those who completed it this weekend! 🙂
