Friday! That always means relaxed workout time for me. I ate half a protein bar and headed out to the gym.
Note to self – remember to start the car and let it warm up unless you want to stand out there and scrape in your gym clothes.

Then I cooled down for 10 minutes on the treadmill. Said personal trainer that gave me unsolicited advice was giving advice to some other guys there. I actually don’t think he is interested in getting clients. I think he just likes to give advice and feel important. I am sure you all know somebody like that.
I contemplated breakfast over the 5-minute drive home. I decided on banana custard cream of wheat!
Sigh. I love breakfast.
I had a hard time getting myself motivated to work today. That 6th 1/2 day is just annoying sometimes LOL! It has been busy week.
This week’s Hot 100 Update:
- Maintain my weight. Scale stayed the same this week. Was hoping for a downtrend, but at least no uptrend!
- No eggnog lattes until Thanksgiving day! I have resisted.
- Do the duathlon and at least 1 more 5K race before the end of the year. Did the home duathlon. 5k done on October 30th. Going to do a virtual 5K on Turkey day!
- Do stretching exercises 4 days a week at least. Did 6 days!!
- Visit one new blog each week that is participating in the Hot 100 Challenge and cheer them on. I am visiting a bunch as we speak!
- Do one no-added sugar day each week. I did it, but it was a struggle.
Overall a good week. I was pretty stressed with how busy I was and pleased that I didn’t visit snack town very often. I think the scale might have shown a loss without the calzone and likely what I ate on Sunday.
Lunch break from work.
The rest of the paneer. I toasted a pita to serve on the side. Yeah, won’t be getting that again. Oh well.
I finished up work after lunch – yay! Then I set out to make some honey fluff, which was perfect on top of some crustless pumpkin pie!
We have pumpkin coming out of our ears! So much better than last year when there was the shortage.
John was super busy today, too, so I thought I would make the entire dinner tonight. Of course, I took an easy route LOL!
Or pressed and formed shrimplets, as I like to call them I sliced up some potatoes coated them with some Penzeys cheese sprinkle and baked them in the oven to go along side. A semi-homemade dinner.
That kiwi was super sour, too. Boy howdy! I noticed it was super bright green, but it felt ripe. Weird.
I had a couple mint cups for dessert, and then decided to take a quick ride on the trainer:
Nice 45 minute spin. It’s so weird to be on my bike without my helmet on. I suppose I could wear it and no one would know…
And a large side note – today is John’s goal anniversary. 1 year ago today he hit his goal weight after losing 43 pounds and has maintained that loss! Go J-man!
I love breakfast too! That looks good! Excellent on the exercise! It’s almost time for egg nog!! Woo hoo!

Good work on your goals this week! Thank you for your comment on my blog today. I know that your weight loss process took awhile and it was comforting to be reminded not to worry too much as long as the scale is trending downward. Congrats to John for being at goal for a year!

I have not resisted eggnog. I bought some and planned on waiting until Thanksgiving but alas, I had some. And since it was open I might as well…..

Congrats to John on the one year at his goal!
Do you plan your meals ahead of time, or always decide each day as it’s time to prepare them? You mentioned deciding on breakfast while driving home. 🙂
Your crustless pie makes me want to make one. I tried that last winter and was surprised how much I didn’t miss the crust!

Mostly we decide each day what to have, although some of that is predicated by what meat I might have thawing out. The only time I really actively plan meals ahead of time is when I am doing a no-added sugar day because I really have to think about what I am eating.
We have certain meals we know we will have if we shopped for the ingredients, but not always sure what day that will be.
Yay, John! Awesome.
You mentioning the crustless pumpkin pie is funny because I had gone out to get the ingredients for one. Don’t know about you but I have been in a pumpkin mood.
I’ve read about your biking adventures and I’m happy to say that I get to go shopping for one now. Guess a hybrid? Still new to the biking world so lots of reading to do.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Yay for a bike! I think most people probably would be best suited to buy a hyrbrid. Unless you are just doing really casual rides, then you can get a cruiser.
I love breakfast too. I have my special way of preparing oatmeal, with apples, peaches, walnuts, and cinnamon that makes it worth getting up in the morning for. Sounds like you did quite well with your challenge goals. I like how you are so dedicated to getting your exercise–especially on your bike. I am wondering if that came with the weight loss, or did you bike a lot pre-weight loss? Have a great weekend!

I exercised more and more during the weight loss. Now I really enjoy it, which is not something I ever would have thought!
Congrats to Jon!!! 🙂
I laughed right out loud about the thought of you wearing your helmet inside, because once I left mine in someone’s car in high school claiming I didn’t know yet if he was a safe driver. Needless to say after the rolling of the eyes, I took it off. It made him smile and that was my goal. LOL Funny how things can trigger memories.
Have a nice weekend!!

Another fantastic Friday! Lori, what kind of protein bars do you eat? Do you make your own and use protein powder or do you purchase something specific?
That crustless pumpkin pie looks FAB! Making me hungry!
I make my own on occasion, but we buy Balance Bars, Zone Bars, and Luna Bars. My hubby loves protein bars, so we always have them in the house.
Nice job on all of the goals! Your photos of the food always make me drool and give me great ideas!

Congrats to John & to you Lori too! And big congrats on that stretching! To me, sometimes that is the hardest part because I get “tighter & tighter” the older I get vs. how limber I was when I was younger & even into my early 40’s not so bad.
And of course your food plates, so pretty compared to my stuff! 🙂
I saw that comment on bars. I used to have them in the house all the time… BUT since I found your recipe & modified it for me & a bit more protein, I hardly buy them anymore.. Thx Lori! Actually, I think that has helped with my weight with my age issues as they are so clean & I control the ingredients. When I was younger, it did not matter as much.. meaning younger as in your age up to about 50. 😉

Congrats to John for his anniversary! Great that he has maintained for a year now!
Very active day you’ve had, go Lori!
Congratulations to John! And to you! I’m sure your healthy habits help him stay on track…and vice versa.

Another great week Lori! I am just wondering, do you like pumpkin? j/k 🙂
Have a great week!
Wearing your helmet inside. I love the thought! Thank you for the soap primer. My brain has been searching for some zero-calorie creative expressions lately. That might have to be something I try. Little worried about the caustic lye as I’m a klutz. Will have to think on it.
