Thanks for the insomnia suggestions…. hmmmm…. narcotics, booze…. s*x….and kids. 😉
You know that carb loading I did yesterday led to a fabulous run today! 6 miles without even batting an eye. How about that? I think I might be becoming a runner…. I got on the hamster wheel and spent 2 miles getting up to 6mph. Then I put a hand towel over the electronics and just listened to tunes. I knew that when the album was over it would be about an hour, and when I pulled off the towel, the mileage was 5.9 – so I just finished out 6. I almost went for more, but I need to be careful about increasing base mileage too fast (since I did 6 on Tuesday). I had a big endorphin grin on my face when I left the gym, which elicited a nice hello from a man coming in. Hope he didn’t think I was hitting on him! 😳
I listened to Hot Club of Detroit’s new album, which John got me for Christmas. I love it! Good tunes can make all the difference in exercise, don’t you agree??
Came back to a warm and wonderful bowl of Cream of Wheat cooked with a mashed banana and topped with almond butter and raspberry jam. I burned my tongue!
It’s cold out today, but beautiful and sunny. I do take vitamin D in tablet form at this time of year since I don’t get out in the sun so much now. We have some nice icicles hanging from the house now:
This picture was actually taken in sun, but the back light makes it look late.
Clean eating for lunch today! Tuna salad sprinkled with a bit of lemon pepper and FSTG chips (love these). And an American Kiwi 🙂
I just wanted to take a minute and give a shout out to Lynn for a Weight Loss Woo Hoo! Lynn is amazing and such an inspiration to me (as well as many others). If you haven’t read her blog, you should. She has a wonderful writing style, which I am envious of, as well as having an admirable control of how she eats, which I am also envious of.
Uh-oh, along with the gluttony yesterday, the envy puts me at 3 of the deadly sins this week 😯
We had forethought this morning to throw some venison into the crockpot with some BBQ sauce and let it cook all day. I love when dinner is ready to go when I am! I chopped some up and put over a tiny baked potato.
Having a few more carbs today since it is a longer run day. It was so good! Nice and tender.
I am done with work now and off to the cafe for some weekend celebrating!
Question: Do you get enough vitamin D?
I sure do. I take 2400 IU per day.

You are a running machine!!!
I’m guessing I don’t get enough D. Guess I should think about supplement.

Music definitely pumps me up when I workout! I notice it when a good song comes on because I up the ante if I start to slack off.
I am definitely lacking on vitamin D!! I tend to get a little sad this time of year. I miss the sun and the warm weather!

I’ve been having trouble getting on your site this past week. GAH
I need to go catch up now!

I am in Florida, so I don’t have the vitamin D issues others might have from colder states. I think it’s awesome you ran that far that fast. Music does have a way of just taking me away…my sister told me that when you start running you learn that you get into this “zone”.

On the Vitamin D – probably not. I do take a multi-vitamin, though, so that’s got to help, right?
Very interesting on the carb loading, and I love that you are actually having to stop yourself from running too much! Fun fact: I have never listened to music (via headphones) while I’ve run. I should try it, seeing how it makes your time go by so fast.

you ARE a running machine (*cough* come here please *cough*)
living in TX I typically get a ton of Vitamin D no matter how I try and avoid the sun…but lately the clouds have been thick and dense here.
Youve started me wondering if I dont need more in other fashions!

What a pretty picture of the icicles. We had cold and snowy weather yesterday too. I’m pretty sure you were a runner a long time ago! Way to go! 🙂 You’re a fitness role model for me!

I’ve never taken Vitamin D pills, so I am not sure I do in the winter, but in the summer I am sure I do.

I’ve been hearing more and more about vitamin D. It’s on my list of things to buy. Taking it, however, is another story. I’m notoriously bad about not taking vitamins.

Lynn is an inspiration, isn’t she? Holds a place in my heart, since it was through her blog that I came to know of this ‘world.’
And you are definitely inspiring me on my running journey! I don’t listen to music when I run. It seems like a good excuse to get an ipod though.
Okay, have to admit…I’m not feeling the venison. But like I wrote yesterday, its all about trying new foods. Maybe I’ll find some venison to try this year.

Hey that is a great suggestion to put your towel over the display! I will remember that for when I finish my C25K – for now force myself to look up but I need to watch the time. I don’t like staring at the time, I can’t find my zone.
I love those chips too. I have to be careful with portion control though – they are like crack!
Cheers,
Trish

I take 1000 iu vitamin D every evening, two if I feel like I’m coming down with something. Not sure if it helps, but I try!

I’m not sure if I get enough Vitamine D. I get outside everyday: letting the dog out. Twice a week I run usually in daylight. So I’m not sure. I use butter on my bread which has Vitamine D in it too.
Your food looks great as always, you really love broccoli don’t you 🙂
Great run Lori!

Lori, congrats on that running! You go girl!!! You are smart not to overdo too fast. But it does feel good to get a good one in, doesn’t it!!! I do the treadmill in the gym too along with the Stepmill & the Elliptical. Sunday is my outside jog. I go for about 75- 90 minutes depending on what I did in the gym that week.. it is a jog, not a run as you can see by how many minutes it is!!! 🙂
I love my food super hot! Bad for the slowing down my eating part though cause I want it all to be hot & not cool off.. OH NO!
Hope you have a great weekend with reading & coffee!

In winter?? Heck no. This state won’t see the sun till at least March or so…and if we do before then, it’s accompanied with below 0 temps and even colder windchill!
What do you take to supplement? Just Vit D caplets?
.-= PTG1002´s last blog ..feelin’ supercute right now… =-.
Yep – Vitamin D3 tablets.
I don’t take ANY vitamins. I know. I should. I don’t. When are they going to make vitamin enhanced coffee already?? 😛

I take a good multi-vitamin, drink orange juice with vitamin D and try to see the sun when it appears.
Great job on that run Lori!
