NROLW, bagels, and books!

New Rules workout this morning.  Just one more workout after this one!

  • Incline barbell bench press:  2 sets of 8 at 65 pounds
  • Seat row:  2 sets of 8 at 70 pounds
  • Static lunge with rear foot elevated:  4 sets of 15 with 25# plate
  • Push ups:  4 sets of 15
  • Romanian barbell deadlift: 4 sets of 15 at 65 pounds
  • Dumbbell bent over row:  4 sets of 15 with 20 pound dumbbells

I felt weak today.  Although I did increase the weights on the first 2 exercises.  I think it was the 6-mile run yesterday that made me fatigued today for such a difficult workout.  The pushups were so hard today, but I did them.   I did a little treadmill walking and then went for my reward!

I liked this little bookmark thingie.

Worked fast today.  I was in a real rhythm and plowed through my lines.  Lunch break for a really boring lunch LOL!

I got tired of tuna, but still had a packet left.  I really wanted more protein for lunch for recovery, so I had that mixed with some lemon pepper and light mayo.  Served with Wheat Thins and carrots.  Does this not look like a ‘diet’ plate?

Mid afternoon yum!

Sitting on top of the paperwork for my Olympus.  It was sent out today.  God speed little camera……

Ready for another load of broccoli?  I opened a new bag and accidentally poured too much into the pan.

This was the most delicious red pear, too.  It almost tasted appley.

So what does a hip woman do when she is done with work and ready to paint the town red?

lib1118

When John goes to the library, he will get 1 or maybe 2 books out.  I have a problem and usually end up with at least 6, and today was no exception.  3 Christmas CDs and 6 books!

This one seems quite interesting.  I already try to practice this, but maybe I’ll learn something new.

book1118

To solidify my dorkdum, I love to sit on the couch after getting home from the library and surround myself with all my books.  It’s like Christmas morning and I switch from book to book because I can’t settle on one 😀

Question:  Do you read more fact or fiction?  (I am in a nonfiction mode lately)

Fiction. No facts for me. I don’t like anything “real.” I rarely look at a newspaper and I don’t have cable.

The other day I went out of town for business and on the train I picked up a newspaper someone had left behind. Big mistake. I read the most disturbing article and even though it was over a week ago, I am still bothered.

But I sure love to read books.

I eat that much brocolli and more every day!! My stomach is like a balloon afterwards – not cool but it tastes so good (with sauce …and ketchup…i know so wrong but so right!)…are they chicken fingers or something with it? Oh and LOVE the bagel -yum!! Yayyyy to Xmas CD’s – makes me happy 🙂

I read mostly fiction…unless it’s memoirs or biographies – I love those! And I have the same problem you do at the library – I always leave with 7 or 8 books!

My NROLW came today and I’m totally inspired by the cover picture! Hopefully I can get some time to read it on Sunday (my work “week” starts tomorrow) and get my game plan going.

I read everything I can get my hands on. Mostly fiction but I don’t care as long as it’s good.

I was never able to get to my local library because they were closed by the time I got home from work but I’m looking forward to spending more time there than the bookstore now that I’ll be out of work. I can’t wait! I’m going to have to find my library card.

What’s your favorite book of all time?

    1. Lori Post author

I think my favorite book has to be Stephen King’s “The Stand” I have a totally tattered copy of that. I can always find something in it new, no matter how many times I read it!

  5. Barb

My reading these days consists of Dr. Seuss, Brown Bear, ABCs, etc. You get the idea. 🙂 When I actually have time to read for myself it’s a blend between fiction…the most recent was a John Grisham…and-fiction…mostly health/fitness related these days.

I can not remember the last time I had a bagel, but you are making me want one.

I love books too. Trouble with me is I buy too many. And magazines too. And I do that same thing you do, sit surrounded by them and go from book to book. I am going to have to start checking the library out. I don’t know why I don’t do that more…I mostly read Christian/inspirational writers. Very little fiction these days. But Stephen King used to be one of my favorite authors. I LOVED The Green Mile. And I have a book now that he wrote about ‘how to write.’ Did you recommend that? Have you heard of it? I haven’t read it yet, but if its good, I’ll let you know.

What are you going to do when you are done with this book NROLFW? Will you make up your own workouts?

I probably spend equal time reading both, but I plow through fiction faster so I end up reading more of them. I’m not ashamed to admit that children’s fantasy is my favourite genre. I read Alice in Wonderland, the Hobbit, Harry Potter and Winnie the Pooh probably once a year. And I love Jane Austin 🙂

The pic of your library has me swooning 😀
You are a girl after my own heart … the library is a 10 minute walk from my door to their’s. I love the smell of books. I can never take out just one or two either. I get greedy.

I buy a lot of my books and it’s usually a mix of fiction and non. I love humour so I usually go with authors that I know will make me laugh. And i love a good mystery.
I’ve bought a lot of foody books … The End of Overeating, In Defense of Food, Food Inc. Real Food.

Hope your camera has a safe trip and comes back home soon!
