John and I are going out to dinner for our anniversary on Monday, and I have 2 dresses that I am trying to decide between. We aren’t not going anywhere especially fancy, but we rarely dress up to go out – so I am having a hard time picking. (Excuse the mess.)
Dress 1:
Dress 2:
The black dress has shoulder pads, which a lady lifter does *not* need 😀 However, I like the length on it.
The print (Laura Ashley) is fun and a little more figure hugging, but possibly a bit too long.
I like them both. Can’t you take those shoulder pads out of the black dress? You just look so much more relaxed in the Laura Ashley, but I think it is those pads.
Wow, do you ever look great! Since it isn’t anywhere to fancy I would probably go with the black one. It is a little more casual and a nice length. You could maybe take out the shoulder pads since you don’t need them. The flower dress is beautiful too and looks great on you but, for not to fancy, I would go with the black.

ooh, this is tough. You look great in both! I’m with you on both reasons why too, love the length of the black one, but the bottom one makes your waist look teeny tiny. Go with whatever one you FEEL the best in. You could look beautiful in a garbage bag if you wore it with comfort and confidence! 🙂

I would definitely go with the black one…maybe take out the shoulder pads but the length is so much more flattering for a night out. It also is a lot younger looking, prints can sometimes be aging.

I’d remove the shoulder pads from the black dress and wear that one – you look fantastic in it, plus it shows off your great legs!!!

Another vote for pad removal and the little black dress! Have a wonderful time….

Just started reading your blog and I’m enjoying it so much:) YAY for date night and excuse to get all dressed up! I’m going to vote for the black one. Have lots of fun!
Well, I think the black is the more formal of the two. The floral is more relaxed and more romatic. Black to me is always more formal.
You look beautiful in both. The floral accentuates your waist better, but the black highlights your legs.
I don’t have a choice because you look great in both. Like others have said, go with what feels best. If your husband dresses a bit more formally, go with the black. If he’s bit more causal, go with the floral for the romatic feel. Yet, black always says sexy, so that’s romatic, too.
I’m no help!
Happy anniversary!

My vote is for the black one!

I prefer the black one. It really looks good on you.
That IS tough! The Laura Ashley is beautiful, but I am a sucker for pretty, romantic dresses and I think it really shows off your figure well. The black dress is more formal, I think, but something about the cut looks a little aging on you (maybe the sleeve style/length?). I’d go with the floral print in terms of flattering looks, but the black would work better for a more formal event than dinner/concert/church.
Wow, that was probably unhelpful! Sorry, you’re lovely in both 🙂

I agree with all the others, you look good in both of them. I do, however, differ in my preference. I like the bottom one better.

You look great in both dresses but I think I like the bottom one a little better but then I’m more for color. It sounds like you got a very mixed review here lol. I say go with what you feel the best in.

I vote for the black one but take the shoulder pads out.

Boy, you got a lot of opinions, Lori! I think the best advice is to wear the one that you feel best in. But if you’re like me, you might feel pretty darn good in both of them. I love the floral, especially the neckline. Very flattering. And sometimes in person the length looks better than the picture? I have quite a few ‘long’ dresses because I am so short, and can’t be bothered hemming them.

I would go for the black one because I think it’s more a party dress.
I should take the shoulder pads out, I always do that when I buy clothes that have them except for jackets.

Definitely the black one! The shape of the floral is adorable on you, but the pattern is, (excuse my frankness!) very granny-like! And you, are just not that old 🙂
Your body looks amazing though, I think you need to take the sleeves off that black number, show some more skin! 🙂
Happy Anniversary! I like the black dress better. I always cut the shoulder pads out of everything. Hope you enjoy your anniversary dinner.
