I am going to try going all next week without eating meat from land animals, just as a way to make myself incorporate more legumes in my diet and try some new things. I know I say I am all about the protein, so I think some readers assume that I do low carb, which I don’t. I do moderate carb and ‘real’ carbs like whole grains…. Most times – the occasional bagel sneaks its way in during the week
I just concentrate on getting enough protein because of my workouts, and when I concentrate on getting enough protein, usually the other macros fall into place.
I will eat fish and seafood (do clams have legs??), and eggs and dairy (of course). I also am going to try really hard to avoid meat analogs like Boca burgers and morningstar products. Those are processed, so don’t want to switch from a ‘natural’ meat to a processed analog as that defeats the whole foods point. I try to avoid soy more now anyway.
I have some pork to use up tomorrow, then starting Monday I will do this and post up any new recipes that I come up with.
Anyone want to join me on a fun challenge?
Good luck!
How do you cook your legumes? I am trying to incorporate it more also, but it seems like a pain in the neck to cook them.
Whole wheat I have found to love. At first it is tough to get used to but after a while your body gets used to it.
Good luck with your week.
Great information, Great blog!!
Welcome to the (quasi) dark side
Just because it doesn’t have legs doesn’t mean it’s not packed with protein. Good luck with your experiment. Maybe some day I could convince you to let go of the fish, too? Maybe? hehe
I love lentils cooked in the crock pot! So yummy, so filling and TONS of fiber and protein! Good luck this week
I started a raw food diet today, but am starting slowly. So I’m cooking up ground beef tonight with a little chili and onion powder to go with corn tortillas. Kinda a treat. Vee – http://www.veegettinghealthy.blogspot.com
