We have been taking John’s parents around all over the place during their visit. We stopped at Hick’s orchard to pick some apples and have a cider donut.
We went out into the orchard and picked a huge bag of apples. The trees are full of apples. Our area has a bumper crop of apples this year. These are Mcintosh:
Of course, we needed to have the cider donuts:
Tasty, yes? Indeed.
There was a trip to Lake George to look around.
It was cold and windy on this day. No swimming! You can see how choppy the water is.
Sunday was a much nicer day. Sunny and warmer. We went farther into the Adirondacks to see some better fall color.
.
We stopped in North Creek at the train station, which is on the historic register.
Model train:
There was a beautiful mosaic mural downtown that is still in progress:
My favorite part, of course:
We also stopped in a shop and I got inspiration for when we redo our downstairs powder room. We just did the wallpaper removal and paint in that room, but in the future we want to make it a little more classic and we saw this:
It’s an old sewing cabinet converted to a sink. So, this is our inspiration piece. Now to keep a look out for a sewing cabinet. Or just see if this is still available in the future when we are ready to do that room 😉
We hope that John’s folks are getting a good taste of the Adirondacks for their visit!

What a nice looking fall day! That donut looks amazing…we have plans to go to Hood River in a few weeks and hopefully pick apples. I want to try making apple sauce. Have you done that?
I think I made applesauce eons ago, but I don’t quite remember. We need to with all these apples we got!
Nice donut pic, and that model train looks real, except it’s not quite winter yet. Thanks for going around with us 🙂 and for all the help with dinner!
28 years ago today, 6.5 inches of snow fell in our area – maybe that is when they did the train 😀
(((love the lori’s better half comment :-)))
Im so so ready for fall.
I guess I better plan a trip to Pennsylvania STAT.
That wall mosiac is gorgeous! Love the bike tribute (to you!) in there, too.
The wall is really something else to see in person. I love what they did. There is a lot more wall to cover as well.
What a fun time you are having with your in-laws!
We haven’t been to our cider mill yet but hoping to get there in a couple weeks for a cider donut! I’m not even that big of a donut fan but I do look forward to having one every year.
Our trees are weird – some have already completely changed, some sort of started to change then just died. I don’t think this is going to be a typical fall color season for us.
We are losing some leaves without them turning. The late warm weather has a lot to do with that, but there was nice color further in the mountains, so I think in about a week we should have some good stuff.
What beautiful pictures!! Hope your in-laws enjoyed all that beauty! 🙂
I miss Autumn so much! What beauty Lori!!!!!! That donut & the apples!!! YUM!!!!!
Thx for the doing the breast cancer link every year!
Apple cider donuts are always insulin worthy to me! Glad you had fun showing John’s parents around – at least it wasn’t raining 😀
Love that picture of the apple branch with all those perfect apples lined up on it! I was just thinking I need to take a trip to Apple Hill!! And now I want a cider donut. Love that you’re getting some fall colors. When I step outside a few leaves fall, and I love it. Not a lot of color yet.
I like your bathroom idea. I’ve seen sinks put in various pieces of antique furniture, and it always looks nice. That will be a fun project for you!
I hate getting a project idea when I am not ready to implement it. Now, of course, I am looking around for a sewing cabinet and I might have found the perfect one already and we aren’t ready to do that room!
I’m glad to be back, and LOVE your photos!!!!!!!
I didn’t know your parents in law were over for a visit. Can’t remember they ever visited you since I started reading your blog?
And I’m glad you showed them around because it gave me a glimpse of where you live too.
John’s mother came out a few years ago, but his father has not been out since we moved to NY (they live in Colorado). It was nice to have them visit.
