Sick hubby.

I was going to start with a weather joke, but I don’t want any of you to feel the urge to poke me in the eye 😀  Not to mention I am not finding any humor in the weather right now.

Instead, I’ll show my banana bread pudding I had for breakfast.

Wednesday is normally a bagel day, but my poor sweetie is still sick. He was starting to feel better from the cold/flu or whatever he had and then ended up with a stomach bug.  We think it might have been an upset stomach from the cold medicine on an empty stomach.

I even tucked him in with my heated fleece blankie!

His flight to Vegas was cancelled because of weather yesterday, so he had to reschedule it to leave on Friday instead. In hindsight, that was a good thing with him being sick and all. I feel very bad for him.

So, I worked my job and then went out and packed orders for John – which is what next week will be like with him gone anyway. Hooray for previews.  Anyone want to come out here and work for free?  I will give you room and board! 🙂

I just grabbed a quick lunch.

You know – these Luna Bar carrot cake are *really* good! I have always liked the Luna bars, but this flavor is very yummy.

 Snack time!

I was having a nut craving today. Peanut butter with breakfast and peanuts with my snack.  Like a squirrel eating nuts to hibernate.

My check arrived today for work. The company I work for is still in the dinosaur era with paper checks by mail – I know!  Normally I like to ride the bike or walk to the bank, but it’s a little over 2 miles round trip and that just isn’t happening in such cold weather. It’s kind of giving me cabin fever.  I want to get out, but the thought of actually going out is not appealing.  True Gemini in action there 😀

Dinner was cooking up on the chicken breast for tonight and the rest of the week.  This week at the store, I bought some Green Giant steamers of broccoli with cheese and cauliflower with cheese. I told John I was treating myself getting those and I think he found that very amusing that a treat for me was vegetables.  Anyway, I decided to have the cauliflower and put it on top of my chicken breast as a topping.

This was really good, I have to say.  I did the broccoli and cheese one on a baked potato earlier this week.  It’s nice to change things up, right?

Working tonight for a while. It will be nice when things settle a bit with work and I get back onto a more normal schedule. With a lot of the doctors away for the holidays, work was all over the place.  I like having a flexible schedule, but I don’t want it to be too flexible, if you know what I mean.  I would rather do the flexing than have it done for me.  John is feeling better as of this evening, so we are shooting for bagel day on Thursday. Woo Hoo!

OK, I’m laughing alongside John at your vegetable treat. But I get it, I really do…sometimes if I want to indulge myself, I’ll buy a container of cut up fruit. Living on the wild side, right?!

Hope John continues to feel better and the weather clears up for his flight to Sin City.

I would totally think of a vegetable in cheese sauce as a treat! Probably more the cheese than the vegetable, but still.

I’m so done with this weather. D-O-N-E. Then today I was out running errands and realized it’s only January 8th. We normally don’t have this kind of cold and snow until mid February. No wonder I feel done!

I feel for John! I’m still recovering from flu #2 and I have had to postpone starting my exercise program for the spring. 🙁 I also ate so many sugar-laden cough drops on Tuesday that I ended up feeling all wonky (ok I didn’t feel like making proper meals).

We still have no snow. I read in a paper that the cold weather in Northern America and the lack of snow/winter in Southern Finland are related. So it’s as I’ve said several times – you have our weather over there!

I could come work for you in exchange of petting Pixie. 🙂

Hope John is feeling even better by now and that he can still go to Vegas tomorrow.

If you had asked if I would come over and help during Spring/Summer I would have been in the plane by now. But since I’m totally not jealous of your weather and it’s way too cold for me, I’m afraid you have to do it yourself 🙂

There’s weird bugs going around everywhere! I have a few friends sick and plenty of people in the office are blowing their noses and hacking away. Not good! Hopefully John’s upswing continues. It is NO FUN being sick on a plane so the delay is probably for the best.

I am giggling because I have the very same fleece electric blanket! I turn it on a few minutes before hopping into bed because I am always so cold that I can’t fall asleep, but bundling up makes me too hot later at night and the auto timer is perfect! Gotta stay warm somehow.

I love this blanket so much! John gave it to me as a gift last Christmas. Although, it is possible that Pixie loves it more than I do. 😀

Make sure that John doesn’t feel the need to share his sickie germs with you!!
And, I’m right here with you about avoiding going outside these days!
I get why those veggies are a treat – the cheesy goodness!!!

Hope John feels better soon! Does your bank of an app? Now that you have a smart phone, my bank accepts pictures of checks and they deposit directly into my account.

Oh Lori…a sick hubby and too cold to go out!? That is NOT right, on both levels! Hope John continues to get well, hope you avoid catching it, and may it warm up JUST a little so it’s not horrific to go out. Take care!!!

Ooh, I haven’t seen the carrot cakes in a Luna Bar! The Clif Bar ones are super good.

I totally get the convenience ‘treats’. When you focus on mostly whole foods, it feels so decadent to buy something you don’t chop, peel, and/or cook for yourself.

Hope John is feeling better and is able to enjoy his trip!

Believe me, I can sympathize with the sick man thing. Hope he is fully recovered by now as I think I might be a day behind in reading this. Would love to come help you pack packages. Maybe sometime when he goes off in the summer! LOL!
