New shoes and choosing colors.

It was a nice quiet weekend. I didn’t even work either day! I rarely get a complete weekend off from work, so this was nice.  John was finally feeling well enough to go out and pay for my football meal 😀  I won the last week of the regular season – go me!

We did stop to get some meds and zinc tabs on the way.  I am not sure John kept all his cooties to himself because my throat is starting to feel sore. So, time to zinc it up. I was waiting in the car and I see this across the street. Come on people, I can see why you didn’t get the decorations down because of the ice and then snow (our lights will be up for a long time to come), but at least unplug the inflatables.

It was beautifully sunny, albeit cold on Saturday.  We hit up Rock Hill Bakehouse for lunch. We haven’t been here in a while. It’s very inviting inside.

The owner is a libertarian (I think?) and he promotes political discourse in his restaurant. Not that I get into politics in public or anything. They also have a library that you are free to browse from and actually take home as long as you bring them back.

One of my favorites to get is the grown-up grilled cheese with pesto, smoked gouda and harvarti on semolina bread.

Yums!

I’ve also been choosing stuff for Radiance Manor. I cannot wait to get in there and get started.  Here is another picture of our kitchen to remodel.

Does that not look stupid? I don’t know who liked that enough to make this happen, but it’s not going to look like that when we are done. You can see the issue they were trying to solve with the radiator behind there, but there are better solutions, one of which is to build doors with mesh in front of that to let heat out.  We will be keeping all the cabinets because they are in great shape, but losing that funny breadbox/desk thing.

We are going to put in dark cork floors and do cream cabinets with a green wall color – like so:

The colors didn’t come out all the great there, but we decided on the moonlight white and palm breeze.

I finally got some new shoes. My sneakers have been needing to be replaced for many months now and I finally found a sale to my liking.  I actually checked out Payless. I hadn’t shopped there in years and years after their quality went downhill, but decided to check them out and was actually surprised at what I found.

I have a new pair of Champion sneaks:

I also scored on a pair of ankle boots! I would love longer boots, but I just don’t have the calves for them. Or I should say the boot manufacturers are missing a good segment of the population in their boot building. Anyway, I love these:

They make me look kind of cool – at least from the knees down 😀

They are so comfie, too, which is why I bought them  – other than being on sale.

AIM post coming on Monday, so hope you stop by for that!

I’m excited to follow along with all the renovations in your new house!!!
Cute new boots. I can’t do the standard riding boots or fitted tall boots either (calves are too big) – but I don’t mind so much anymore because I love my cowboy boots!!!

I have pretty muscley calves, and I found some cute ones at Kohl’s! I also got a pair of the mid calf ones from Macy’s. That restaurant looks so nice! I wish we had something like that near where I live.

How did I miss your nice Friday post?? anyway, I enjoyed it tonight! Wow, you have already decided your colors. I am still carrying around multiple color cards. Making decisions is hard for me.

Love your new boots. And now I want a toasted cheese sandwich…if only I watched football, I could win one : )

I usually don’t have trouble picking a color family, but just narrowing down to the specific one is kind of hard.

I am right with you on the boot/calf issue. The ankle boots look great with your jeans, glad you found a pair!

That sammie – ooooh! Yum yum yum.

So you are going to paint all the cabinets cream? I like the wood finish, actually. Love the cork floor, and I’m a green fan…the entire room is going to look so nice when you get your hands on it!

The kitchen is on the small side and the cabinets take up so much of the space that we are going to paint them lighter to make the kitchen brighter. Then anchor with the dark floor. Anything is better than that red floor.

Cute boots! I actually prefer shorter boots. The knee-highs chafe against the back of my legs when I’m sitting.

I love the look and feel of cork, but I’ve decided it’s not for me. I spill too much. 🙂

Spills aren’t bad with cork, it’s the flooding – and that’s not good with any flooring, save for rubber LOL!

2 things… Grown Up grilled cheese, love that name! Is that their name or your name? Either way, awesome.
The breadbox thing looks likes it’s kind of part of a roll top desk or something. Weird place for it. Can’t wait for the renovations. Lori’s HGTV show awaits.

Great shoes, especially the last pair: love it.

What the previous owners did to the kitchen is really stupid. Who does that with that radiator that way? I’m sure it will look so pretty once you are done with it.

they do make you look cool!!
Im such a boot addict since we moved…and before.

Hi, my name is CARLA and I LOVE ME SOME BOOTS.

(but I really am ONLY HIP COOL from the knee down :-))

I’ve decided to bypass the boot trend – I think those ankle boots are adorable and I could see wearing a pair of those, but I never understood the skinny jeans tucked into the high boot look. Oh well, I don’t get most trends. 🙂

I love those kitchen colors and I’m a huge fan of green. That will make for a bright and cheey kitchen!

When you’re done remodeling your kitchen, please come over to WI and re-do ours. I have no clue where to even begin. 🙂

Lori if you ever get here to visit me we are going to the Bleu Squid Bakery where their speciality is grown up grilled cheese sandwiches (several types) and CUPCAKES!!! We will be in heaven 😀

Loving the colors you’ve chosen for your new kitchen. Can’t wait to see it come together!

Lori – I wish I could fit ion boots & things like that but my feet don’t…

I hope you don’t get sick. Hubby did that to me – he was sick & them my throat hurt & well, that was that – I felt OK but the throat was a prob & it broke out into a leaky nose.. almost gone but took too long to go away!
