Non-edible candy corn and work woes

Half way through October. Can you believe it?  I can’t. I guess I have to, though. Can’t stop time and get off!

I cleaned up a lot of the garden for the season:

Now that I have said I was taking care of the stray kittens, I have not seen them.  Go figure.  I don’t want to just put food out because any old cat can come by and eat it. We have lots of ‘owned’ cats that like to come through our property, too.  I don’t need to be feeding them. 😯

Sunday was football day and a good time to be painting my nails!  I decided if I didn’t have any candy corn in the house to eat, I could pretend with my nails!

This took a while to do, but what better time than during a football game, right? 😉  On a side note, Debby asked about my nail length and guitar playing. This is my right hand (duh) and the nails actually aren’t that long – just to the edge of my fingertips, but you do play with your nails some with classical guitar. My left hand nails are much shorter since I need the tips to press on the frets.

Yesterday was a holiday, I guess?  I worked all day as my clinics were open.  It was busy.  It has been busy for months, too.  Yes, this is a good thing, but due to the management, it is poorly handled and has been for months now. We have been getting calls to work weekends – at 8:30 in the morning, no less. On both days.  I have been called while on vacation to work, even though I let them know I would be out of town. I ended up a stretch where I just worked 12 days in a row.  I already do a lot more than the minimum the company requires and I will try and help out when they really need it.  However, even only working a few extra hours on each Saturday and Sunday starts to take a toll when you already put in a full work week.  Supposedly all these people were hired, but we are still behind.

Today, all hell broke loose. We got calls and emails about working, doing more, more, more. Clients are threatening to leave.  Honestly – I just don’t know what they expect if they have not hired more people.  If we lose the 2 clients, that is 95% of my work.  As an independent contractor, I don’t get unemployment, so this is somewhat distressing to me, I have to say.  I can’t do much about it other than to try to work even more, but it’s getting pretty stressful. I cannot control what other people do and now it is just a matter of waiting to see what happens.

Anyway, that makes me want to stress eat. My emotional eating pitfall.  So that’s the fun in my life lately…

However, more important things!

Pink picture of the day was sent to my by Julianne!  Cupcakes and coffee together – it’s me in a picture!

Curious… What does your garden clean up consist f? I’m a wannabe gardener. Hope work calms down for you.

Well, at this time of year, it is cutting down all the dead perennial growth. I cut down all the cone flowers and the liatris, etc. This is the time I will also take out any annuals that got frost bitten as well. Not to mention pulling out the fallen tree leaves that blow into the garden, which is an ongoing process 😀

I hope things with work resolve themselves soon!
I love your nails 🙂 I never do mine anymore because I can’t wear nail polish to work.

I’m sorry work is so stressful; it would be nice if that company could get their act together, but it seems like they’ve been this way since you have worked for them? I wish there was something else you could be doing…where’s that job that pays you to ride a bike and tend to a garden???

That would be my dream job! Work has been this way since earlier this year. There was a merger of urgent care clinics and since then, there has been more work than we can handle and the company just hasn’t done a good job getting it covered.

OMGOSH YOU HAD ME AT THE NAILS.
I did alternating black and orange last week at the childs urging—but those are far more fun.

HUGS and COMMISERATION about the work-stuff.

I’m so sorry. I really feel for you as stress eating is my weight loss pitfall as well. I hope things lighten up soon. In the meantime all you can do is the best you can right now. No more, no less.

YOUR NAILS LOOK SUPER GREAT! I LOVE THEM. I don’t like eating candy corn but I think nails are holiday-perfect 🙂

I’m sorry to hear about the work situation. I hate it when things are stressful yet there’s nothing I can do about it since it’s out of my control. Hope everything works out.

Work stress is the worst! Having (hopefully) just finished up a month of complete work terror, I sympathize. It’s especially hard when nothing is in control and you just do the best you can do. It does take a toll. Fingers crossed it lets up for you soon!!!!!!!

Your nails are impressive – and much fewer calories than the real deal!!!
Bummer about the work issues – I hope that everything works out and y’all don’t lose the 2 clients!!!

I was getting all indignant about your work situation and them calling early every weekend day. When I worked, I made it known that no matter how often they called, or how “dire” the situation, I would not work overtime. But I can see that our situations are completely different. I worked for a huge medical center, where I felt like they had the ability to prepare for busy times if they wanted to. But when you work for a smaller company, there are not so many options. Is there such a think as a bigger company that handles medical transcription? My first two years as an RN I worked for a small hospital, and there were things that happened that were not fair, but it was the nature of the small business. When I went to work for the big hospital, it was a whole nother ball game. I don’t think I would have lasted as long in a small hospital.

I hope a solution will present itself soon. Its no good feeling that stressed about work–we spend too much of our lives at it for it to be that unpleasant!

P.S. Love the nails! Gonna try to send that pic to my friend.

There are very large transcription companies. We call them MT mills. In fact, I used to work for one. They shipped a lot of work over to India and then I got laid off. They are notorious for very low pay and long hours.

LOVE your nails! I want mine to look like that! 🙂

As for your work situation – so sorry!!!! Work is a good thing but not when it is managed poorly – too much stress! HUGS!

That sounds stressful with your work right now. But I recognize it a lot. At R.’s work things aren’t organized/planned well either which gives him a lot of stress and long workdays. Since we went back to work at the beginning of September, I think we have eaten together on 10 to 15 workdays. All the other days he had to work late.

Hope it gets better for you soon.

I’m sorry about your work stress. That sounds like a tough situation. And I totally understand the desire to stress eat…especially if the weather isn’t conducive to biking instead!

Glad you liked it! All it needed was a sprinkle of candy corn, but it looks like you have that covered with your nails! They look so fun!

I’m sorry to hear that your work situation is so stressful – that’s a tricky balance when working for a small business, wanting to help them succeed and keep business, while keeping your personal sanity boundaries intact. Thank goodness for biking and cupcakes and coffee!

So sorry for the work stress. That whole ‘do more with less’ philosophy drives me crazy. As do companies that expect you to drop everything and solve their self-inflicted crises, and then they don’t even acknowledge the extra effort. The company I’m working for now has small episodes like that, but it seems as though they’re trying to turn that around.

I hope your situation levels out soon.

Your nails are super cute! I can relate as I am a stress eater too! Best not to have snacky stuff in the house when I feel that way! I hope things get resolved and your work load lessens. Hang in there.

Keeping my fingers crossed about your job. My husband didn’t get unemployment this last time – he’s been out of work since July so it’s been tough – each day I just focus on the good things that are going on in my life – that’s all you can do! 😀
