*** Please note, normally we have an AIM post on Mondays, but since it is a holiday, all 5 of us will be back next Monday with a new post!**
This was a bit of an unplanned trip. One of John’s friends invited us both out to Vegas and put us up in the Vdara hotel. It’s not a trip I would have thought to do, but I wasn’t going to turn down that generous offer! Now, I am leaving Vegas on Monday as just a long weekend, but John will be in Vegas for a week.
The irony is that it was raining when we arrived in Vegas. Then it stopped and got really muggy. Really, Vegas?? Somebody lied to me about the dry heat.
Anyway, This is the Vdara. It’s pretty new, from 2009, and it is an eco friendly hotel, which you all know I love. The rooms are all suites. There is no casino and no smoking in this hotel, so it was a bit quieter for that.
King size bed.
Which has a view of the TV and the eating area:
It has a kitchenette:
And a fabulous bathroom!
I actually wasn’t super crazy about the shower. I miss my rain showerhead 😀 The tub I loved, though.
I even bought some bubble bath to use for it 😀
View from our hotel room. 22nd floor.
That’s the Bellagio fountain in the background.
Here is the view at night.
John and I wandered around checking things out.
John has been here before several times (playing poker), but I have not. I don’t gamble much. I can play poker and blackjack, but I was more interested in what else there was to do in town. I have to say I loved how many flowers I saw in the casino and hotels. Like the mini botanical garden inside the Bellagio:
You guys know how much I loved this!
I loves my hubby 😀
Chiluly ceiling in the Bellagio.
It’s nice just to walk around the casinos and really pay attention to the details. They certainly are beautiful.
I liked going to Paris!
The Eifel Tower is over the casino there. When you get inside, it is like downtown Paris streets.
Even the bathrooms were very French rococo style. I always describe women’s bathrooms to John because he is amazed at how much nicer they are than the men’s ‘get in, get out’ places. I even took a picture of the sink in the bathroom to show him LOL!
Lots of shopping the the Paris ‘underground’. Check out these boots!
Oo-la-la!
I will do another post as this one will just be waayyyy too long. I took hundreds of pictures!
Did you purchase those fancy boots?!
So fun that you are getting to “do” Vegas! I love going there (and I like to play some Craps while I’m there!!). I didn’t realize that any of the hotels were casino free!!!
Enjoy the last bit of your time there!
No buying of the boot LOL!
Love it! The hotel is absolutely beautiful, what a treat to stay there.
I have been in Vegas once and I liked it, you have to visit it once in your life if you have the opportunity, it’s so over the top.
Funny, your post is so similar to the one I wrote when we visited Vegas as part of our 2007 Summer Adventure. Our idea was that Vegas was a “gotta go once” destination and we spent three days there. We visited every major hotel as they were destinations in themselves and walked ourselves crazy, but we never put a single coin in a slot machine! Probably the only people in history to spend three days in Vegas and never once gamble. Just not our thing and Vegas is now on our “been there, done that, won’t go back” list. But you are right, those flower gardens in the Bellagio are amazing and everything is just over the top. How in the world did you get that shot of the highway with only three vehicles in the foreground? We never saw it when it wasn’t bumper to bumper. You must’ve been out at sunrise! FYI – we stayed in the residence condos that are part of the MGM Grand and our favorite hotel was The Venetian!
We were up fairly early, still being on East coast time. It was really nice going around without the traffic or people!
The friend I met up with on our Grand Canyon vacation lives in Las Vegas – her husband was born and raised there – and is constantly telling me we should come visit because it’s possible to just be there and enjoy the offerings without gambling. I guess you proved that!
Did you try those boots on? I totally would have tried them on!
I was afraid to try the boots on as I have biker calves LOL!
That hotel is gorgeous – what a treat to stay there! Love that they do no smoking hotels now – that was one thing that always bothered me about Vegas, all the cigarette smoke.
There still was enough smoke around to bug me, but at least I could get away from it.
Nice digs! I love a walk-in shower in a hotel and don’t understand why more hotels don’t have them. I’d take them over the tub any day, although that one is gorgeous.
I just love that sink ! Oo La la! :)And the garden! Thanks
for sharing Lori. Glad you had a chance to get out of town.
Does a body good! Hugs! deb
Wow, there is some serious bling in Vegas! I’ve never been!
Las Vegas looks a bit over-the-top, which means I could add it to my list of places to visit in future. 🙂 Did you get any ideas for decorating your kitchen sink….?
I loved the hotel room too.
Yeah, that sink was a bit much. Not quite for me 😀
WOW!!!!! Viva Las Vegas! Love these pics Lori, thank you for sharing. Glad what happened in Vegas didn’t stay in Vegas and you posted them here. (groan, sorry too many cliches)
I AM JEALOUS because I love vegas and even with that my fave piece is the SPONTANEOUS bit of the UNPLANNED.
love.
Lori,
I enjoyed the mini tour of Vegas. I have never been there but I would like to go someday. You take great pictures !!!
Lynn
Thanks! There will be a couple more posts about it. We did a lot!
I’ve never been to Vegas, although my husband has been dozens of times – he was “Vegased out” by the time I met him! That room is fabulous – gotta love a big tub like that!
The tub was awesome! I had a nice bubble bath 😀
WOW!! I was stuck in the Vegas airport yesterday Lori for 3 hours plus! I could have met you but did not even know you were there! Dang!!!!! That is one amazing room!!! I am not a Vegas fan BUT that room would be fine for me AND the way you explained the hotel!!!!
NICE rooms! And I love those boots!!!
Great photos! Your hotel looks super nice. We stayed at the Stratosphere and it wasn’t that nice. LOL I loved the Bellagio gardens! I see they changed some of the stuff since we were there in June. Pretty cool!
