What’s Blooming today!

Boy, was that a short week or what?  I think I could get used to working Mon and Tues, having Wed off, and then working Thurs and Friday.  That would be a nice work week.

I knew some heat was going to be coming in today, so I was out before 7 am to take a bike ride!  Glad I went early, too.  It was fairly quiet.  I took the paths mostly.  Lots of birdies singing and a few people, but not many.

Refreshing!

I really find it just sets up my whole day to exercise in the morning.  I tend to get crabby if I haven’t done my morning workout.  I never used to be a morning person, but somehow became one.

15 miles done and I was home. I made up a quick breakfast (I had a workout shake before leaving the house for the ride).

1-minute muffin topped with peanut flour and jam.  Kind of looks like dessert, doesn’t it?  It’s not very sweet, though.  I am always amazed at how long I stay full with this muffin.

Worked and watched the Tour until lunch.  I didn’t want anything heavy, so I made a scrambled egg sandwich!

With hot sauce  – kinda messy, but Yum!  Haven’t had one of those in a while.

Garden tour time!

This makes me so happy.  I stand out there with a big smile.  I love flowers.  It makes John laugh when he sees me get all excited in the garden.

Lilies are still going.

I put one of my attic-find planters with the lilies for now.

It gets more sun here at this time of year.

The Hot Papaya echinacea have more blooms.  I love how these open orange and then turn red.

My 3 ‘expensive’ coneflowers all together.

See how the milkshake one turns into a white fluffy ball?  So cool.

My other coneflower friend.

I have Japanese beetles now, which are eating some plants.  You can see the holes in the petals on this plant.

Snapdragons.  These are just plants that popped up where ever from when I deadheaded the flowers last year.  I like seeing where they end up.

Liatris.

One of the pots on my back porch with flowering tobacco and alysum.

My heliopsis clematis is finally blooming.

It’s about half the size it normally is at this time of year.

Ready for a snack?

My obsession.  Time to buy pineapple futures everyone.  Just a tip.

Leftovers for dinner tonight.  Chicken on a baker.

Plus something for my sweet tooth.

I have to work more tonight, but will be taking a break to walk up the street for a kiddie cone.  I budgeted it into my calories for the day.  It’s a good day for ice cream!

It’s so hot here I’ve started looking at forecast maps looking for ANYWHERE that’s cooler. It’s hot EVERYWHERE!! I admire you for riding as I suspect it’s pretty humid even at 7 a.m. We’re walking in the mall at 7. Probably could walk outside, but Bill goes right on to school so can’t sweat!! And I totally agree about getting the exercise out of the way early – it makes a HUGE difference in how the rest of my day goes. Have a great weekend – tell John hello for us!

When I worked a regular-hours job, I always liked having a midweek holiday to break things up. These days it doesn’t matter so much. 🙂

Also, when I worked that regular job, I liked working out after work. It helped me get rid of the daily aggravations. Now, I enjoy working out in the morning. Much more energy for the day ahead!

    Enjoy your weekend!

I like your pink coneflower the best! LOL on the pineapple futures. I like it dried, crushed, fresh, grilled…and then there’s pineapple upside down cake…

Snapdragons are so fun! If I walked by your house I would be tempted to snap them…after I asked you of course.

Nice that you were able to get out early and exercise. We saw no one out exercising today, but tonight we drove by a walkway by the lake and it was busy…I guess everyone waited for the blistering sun to go down.

I hope you had pistachio ice cream!

My favorite was the butterfly weed (I’m envious, I had a nice stand of it, but only one or two stalks came back this year). I also liked the chocolate chips! Yes to early, early exercise. I’m looking forward to the “cold front” next week bringing back temps in the 80s and lower humidity. We’re going to be in NYC for 3 days and I plan to do a lot of walking outside.

I am so a morn person but not quite as early as my younger days BUT when it comes to exercise – early morn! 🙂

Love the blooms as always Lori!!!

As for work, how about 2 days on & 5 days off! 😉

Beautiful flowers! Mine aren’t doing so wonderful this year with all of the heat and no rain. 🙁

Unfortunately, every day is a good day for ice cream to me. 😉

Your garden is beautiful again this season.

I always have been a morning person but I always did my workouts in the evening. It never occured to me I could do them in the morning too. Now that I’ve switched to the morning I wouldn’t have it any other way anymore. I love it in the morning, knowing you got your workout in before your day even started feels great.
