Who wants a kitty?

Wednesday and you know what that means!  We ended up driving to bagels.  It was 38 degrees and sunny, which was not what we were expecting when we went to bed last night, which was rain.  However, 38 degrees really isn’t as much fun to ride in, plus it was windy.  I grumped a little, though, as I felt like the Weather Channel cheated us a bit.    Can’t trust them at all.

My bagel.

All toasty and warm in a sunny window, too.

After we got back home, I took a 10 minute walk around the block.  I am trying to incorporate those more into my daily routine to get moving.  I have a tendency when I sit down to work (or do any project, really) and go, go, go until it is done without stopping.  I really don’t need to do this and getting out and walking a few times during the day is good for me. Plus I think it helps keep my mind fresh.

I decided to be like Roz and take some flower pictures on my little walks:

Forsythia:

Another flowering tree:

Lunch time.  I got a bit hungry and took the edge off with some nuts.

Then I made up an omelet with laughing cow and hot sauce.

Another couple walks in the afternoon (one time getting rained on).  2 miles under my belt  before I knew it!  Then it was latte time.

So, does anyone want a kitty?  Look at this:

Yes, the picture of innocence.  Not!!!

I looked at my sunflowers today, which were all leafing out quite nicely as of yesterday with 6 leaves a piece.

Someone thought they would make a good snack.  One of these eaten just down to a stem. Weeks of growing ruined in one midnight kitty attack.  Argh!  She comes with free paper balls for her toys as well – and lots of hair.  Sigh…

Okay, just kidding. I love her.

Dinner tonight was a new fish attempt for me.  This time we got Mahi Mahi.

John basted it with a little orange ginger sauce (from La Choy) and pan cooked it.  I served mine on top of sauteed veggies and some basmati rice.

Looks like a dish from a restaurant!

The verdict? I actually liked this fish the best out of all I have tried thus far.  It doesn’t have a fishy taste, which is good.  It has a firm texture, which I like better than flaky (or mushy).   I think I will eat this one again for sure.  I am doing well with my fish experiments.

My literacy learner has cancelled tonight.  He got a new job and now works nights, so we are rescheduling.  I am glad he got a job!  That means I have a free evening now.  I already walked another mile after dinner, so I have gotten in 3 miles today of walking.  I am hungry now, though.  Gotta find some snacks.  Other than just this:

I love the food you prepared! I am super simple when it comes to seafood too so I can taste the flavors. Miso Salmon is one of my favorite dishes!

Flowers are gorgeous. I haven’t had a bagel in so long. That used to be my breakfast staple when I was in college 🙂

What, that wasn’t growing just for Pixie??? She must have thought you were giving her the freshest treats! Bringing a bit of the outdoors inside, just for her, right? 😉

yes the food pics do look goodand the fish dish does look straight out of a chef’s kitchen 🙂

moving more during the day. Yes i do that too. Tend to be glued to the seat. Sometimes, I even get lazy and take the elevator instead of the stairs. Must move more too. Thanks for reminding!

I remember back in the days when we still had Roussy we had a strawberry plant in the garden. One day I noticed a lot of strawberries where gone and I catched her soon after that: she was eating them 🙂

I never heard of this kind of fish, it looks a bit like meat.

And I have a desk job like you and to get some movement in during the day I walk to other peoples desks a few times a day when I have to ask them something instead of using the phone or email.

Mahi Mahi is one of Mr. Helen’s favorite fishes. Our first night in St. Martin we always go to a local Creole restaurant where he orders the Conch Salad and Creole Grilled Mahi Mahi. He’s already talking about it and we’re not there yet LOL!

I should copy you and set an alarm so that I get up and walk around every couple of hours. I totally understand how easy it is to glue your butt to the seat once you’re down and working.

LOL I imagine if any of us tried to take Pixie from you, we’d have Lori-scratches down our arms!

Thanks for the tip on the mahi-mahi! I’m still trying to find a fish I can tolerate. Well, one that doesn’t come in a can. 🙂

I am not a fish person so interesting about this one.. I want to like it for the health benefits but I just don’t! 😉

OK, I want Pixie! 🙂 I know others that do too!!!!

Love the flower pics & yes, great to get out & enjoy the outside!

I love all the pretty flowering trees this time of year. When you walk through neighborhoods you can smell them and the air is sweet and wonderful. Wish they stuck around longer!!

Our cats used to love spider plants. My mom would grow one and leave it on the floor specifically for them to chew on so they’d leave her other ones alone. 🙂

Getting up from my desk and moving around is something I need to get in the habit of. I just don’t do it and I need to. On Monday I will set it up in my tasks.

Pixie is indeed the pictures of innocence! Maybe John did it? 😉 LOL!
