Friday hills

Welcome to the weekend!

** I know some of you read the blog with a comment RSS.  There seems to be something with the server my blog is on, so you are getting some old feed.  I can’t do anything about that, so my advice would be to unsubscribe from the feed and either just add the blog feed or add it back in later (but don’t forget about me!).  I am hoping it will settle down shortly.  **

Anyway, we are starting to cool down weather wise.  Summer was short lived

I made up pumpkin oats for breakfast.

After working for a while and because it is Friday, John and I took a break to go out riding this morning!  Yay! Bright sun this morning – makes my dimples look like ravines.

We decided to do a little hill work.  This is not *the* hill I will be working on, but it is a good one nonetheless.

It has 2 parts – the first downhill here, then it flattens a little before going down again around the corner.  It’s maybe a half mile hill.  We went down the hill and then rode it back up.  It wasn’t too bad.  I made it up without stopping, but I could certainly do with repeating this hill in my rotation as well.  Of course, it was only a few miles into the ride, so that helped.

Oh, and way off the distance? That’s Vermont. The Green Mountains.

We both feel in pretty decent bike shape, although now cold weather is coming back in again!  We did 11.5 miles today.

I had a protein drink and some clementines when we got back.  Not pictured because you all know what that looks like.

Of course, this all meant I have to work some tonight to make up, but it was totally worth it!  We may not be able to ride this weekend if the rain moves in.

Lunch = protein!

Turkey burger.

Typical Fridayitis around here.  I had a hard time sitting in my chair and doing work today.  I was productive during the time I did work, but still…

I was glad for the latte break:

John wanted pizza for dinner, but decided to save a meal out for this weekend and made up clam strips and brussel sprouts.

I am not sure what it is about brussel sprouts, but they make me very full, which is why I didn’t have fruit with dinner.  Broccoli doesn’t do that, so not sure what that is all about.

I have fruit and nuts planned for my evening snack tonight and more of Downton Abbey season 2!  Nothing too exciting tonight.  Have a great weekend!

Question: Any good plans this weekend?

    LOVE Downton Abbey!

That’s great that you are having some cycling weather. It’s been POURING here in Oregon for about the last month. And it snowed yesterday. 😛 Then today it’s sunny and 50+ degrees. Totally bizarre. It will be nice to get back on the bike soon though. I like Spin class, but it’s just not the same thing.

Nice going on those hills – that is the one thing I hate to do (run) but know that if I really worked at it, how much easier it would become.

That is a fabulous picture of the hill. Thanks so much for pointing out that that is Vermont in the background! I hope you were able to enjoy your surroundings while working on your hill biking.

I know I sometimes forget to enjoy the scenery as I trudge along with the dogs.

    Hi,

I’ve been reading your blog for quite a while and look forward to reading your daily updates… I admire your consistency, honesty, and outlook… I used to be better about blogging, and a lot of other things, and have let myself go… I hate how I feel and how I look, and want to be healthy again especially since I have a little one… I finally got the courage today and ordered Nutrisystem because I think it will be the push I need to get going again… I know you’ve done NS in the past so do you have any advice or words of wisdom? Thank you for being an inspiration to do many people! 🙂

    Great work on the hill!

Tonight was yoga and chanting, tomorrow we are going to a 60th anniversary party, and Sunday will be more yoga. There may be a movie night in there too.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Great looking food! We just finished watching Downton Abbey and loved it! I can’t wait for a new season- I love the characters. Enjoy,

More tax prep for us this weekend and it’s suppose to be rainy here so it’s a good time to do it.

I guess I need to get on the Downtown Abbey bandwagon – can’t believe how many people are watching that.

The way you talk about biking reminds me of how I am after a long winter on the treadmill. Takes a while to get used to running on the road again. But you’re so good at keeping yourself fit year round that even though biking uses somewhat different muscles you seem to whip into shape quick.

Blech on the the cool weather coming back – here too and it’s bringing rain.

Lori. that bike ride is a beautiful pic & with Vermont in the background – amazing!!!! Me, I would not be able to ride that! 🙂 Course I don’t bike ride period. 😉

    Have a wonderful weekend!

Vermont….some day I will go there. I love it, or at least the romantic idea of it and a bed and breakfast somewhere waiting for me and my husband to enjoy it. 🙂

Cleaning out the garage, helping my daughter learn how to cook dinner and my first long run are on the schedule for the weekend. I’ve done two and the other will be an ongoing project this week.

We have rain clouds rolling too and our weather is cooling off. Have a good weekend!

oh, and thanks for mentioning about the extra feeds going on..I was wondering. 😛
